Shaak Ti was a skilled and powerful Togruta Jedi Master who replaced Yaddle on the Jedi Council and fought during the Clone wars.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Much of Shaak Ti's early life is a mystery but after gaining the rank of Jedi Knight she took a Padawan, named Fe Sun and trained her on Shili. Shortly after Sun gained the rank of Jedi Knight she was killed by a criminal named Lyshaa.
Shaak Ti partially blamed herself for Sun's death realising that she'd trained her Padawan to focus to much on the Force and not enough on combat. However her Jedi sense of detachment allowed her to understand, and cope with her pain caused by the death of Fe Sun. Lyshaa confessed that she killed Fe Sun because she hoped that killing a Jedi would gain her reputation as someone dangerous. After that Shaak decided to spend more time training in combat, eventually becoming one of the Jedi Order's finest swordfighters, though as a Jedi Consular she still relied largely on the Force.
In 2 BBG, Shaak Ti, along with fellow Jedi Master Coleman Trebor, helped defend Supreme Chancellor Palpatine from an assassination attempt ordered by Granta Omega. During the Separatist Crisis, she made a public statement regarding the conclusion of the Gotal hostage standoff, supporting fellow Jedi Sarissa Jeng's actions in preventing further loss of life.
Clone Wars[]
Battle of Geonosis[]
Shaak Ti was among the 214 Jedi who went to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padme Armidala from Count Dooku on Geonosis. Largely thanks to her montrals, she was able to survive the battle even though her Ataru and Makashi fighting styles were usually weak against blasters.
Battle of Kamino[]
Shaak Ti was present at the Battle of Kamino, along with Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura and Tsui Choi while Oppo Rancisis coordinated the battle from above with the use of Battle Meditation. During the fighting, Shaak Ti and Clone Commander Alpha headed to secure the latest generation of clones. Shaak Ti briefly engaged Asajj Ventress, who was on a mission to secure cloning data, and after proving to Ventress that she was the superior duellist, the Rattataki distracted her by informing her that she'd activated a self-destruct sequence that would destroy an entire generation of infant clones. Shaak Ti allowed Ventress to flee and focussed on saving the children instead.
With the arrival of Ahsoka and Anakin, the combined Jedi set out to protect the fetal clones of the third generation. The Jedi, however, were being pursued by a large group of battle droids. While the three Jedi covered Alpha, Shaak Ti ordered him to deactivate the self-destruct sequence while she used the Force to tear open the transparisteel that crossed the ocean to the labs before another assault reached them. After destroying the tunnel, Shaak Ti needed Anakin and Ahsoka's help to seal off the exposed opening from the overwhelming power of the sea with the Force. They succeeded, saving themselves and the clone infants.
Meanwhile, the Mon Calamari Merai, a tactician for the Separatists, tried to destroy the city's shield generator in a desperate attempt to get an upper hand in the battle. The data gathered regarding the shield generator by the Corporate Alliance was false, and Merai's efforts were in vain. Merai flew into the Jedi hyperspace rings lying in orbit to destroy them and buy Ventress and his troops time to retreat. He activated his self-destruct system, but the Jedi were able to pull away from the explosion which destroyed the rings. The CIS retreated upon Merai's death.
In the aftermath of the battle, Shaak Ti was seen healing clone troopers and wondering how Ventress had known the self-destruct sequence.
Battle of Brentaal IV[]
Five months into the war, the Galactic Republic had received information that a Separatist stronghold would be lying dormant for a few weeks opening a window of opportunity to attack. In addition, it was learned that the planet was seceding to the Confederacy. The planet, Brentaal IV, was a vital link in the Perlemian Trade Route connecting the Core Worlds and the Tion Cluster. The Republic sent what should have been an adequate task force for the job, comprising four Jedi and a strong complement of clone troops and air land vehicles, with the entire effort being coordinated by Jedi Master Plo Koon, in orbit. Shaak Ti and Master Shon Kon Ray led a strike force on Brentaal IV. General Ti commanded the ground forces.

Shaak Ti fights on Brental IV.
Part way through the battle, Shaak Ti sent word to Plo Koon that she was going to attempt to rally the Republic forces at the fortress for one last push. About four troops found their way to meet Jedi Master Shaak Ti at the entrance to the fortress sewers. They decided that the Republic's best chances laid in the destruction of the fortress' ion cannon batteries and shield generators. With those destroyed, an airship could execute a bombing run and decimate the opposition.
As Master Ti lead the group into the fortress, it became realized that the fortress was truly a prison and that the commotion on the surface had incited a jail break. Master Ti, realizing the need for more troops, guaranteed the prisoners their freedom if they would help her bring the fortress down. The group of prisoners included the hidden Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos along with the renegade Senate Guard Sagoro Autem and the criminal Lyshaa. The mission forced Master Ti to confront Lyshaa, who had killed her former student, Fe Sun.
Eventually, the force split apart to accomplish their mission. Quinlan Vos and Autem were sent after the guns, the single clone trooper left in the company went toward the shield generators, and Master Ti and Lyshaa went to capture Shogar Tok. Master Ti refused to be goaded by Lyshaa, and allowed the Zeltron to help her infiltrate Shogar Tok's chambers, using Lyshaa's ability to project and control other's emotions thereby allowing the mission to end bloodlessly. Meanwhile, Agen Kolar who had been captured and imprisoned was being questioned by Count Dooku. Dooku was very interested about what became of Shaak Ti. Kolar told Dooku that the Ti had been slain. Dooku, nevertheless, did not fully trust Kolar's words and ordered Shogar Tok to send a detail in search of her body and confirm her death.
As Shaak Ti and Lyshaa reached Tok's chambers, Lyshaa attempted to attack Shaak Ti and escape, in which both became trapped in a lightstorm chamber that was an automated device that was triggered by Lyshaa's presence. After both escaped the deadly chamber, Lyshaa actually having been saved by Shaak Ti, they continued their way to Tok's chambers. When they finally reached the chambers, Lyshaa was able to cloud Tok's emotions but also turned on the General. Shaak Ti was shot in the stomach by the Zeltron before she could arrest Shogar Tok. As Lyshaa tried to gain Tok's favor, neither party was aware that Master Ti was still alive. She used the Force to heal her injury.
As the rest of the team completed their missions to disable the fortress' defenses, Master Ti revived herself and confronted Shogar Tok. Shaak engaged Tok and Lyshaa in a fierce duel but pushed Lyshaa out of the fight before Lyshaa could strike her down. In the ensuing duel, she was forced to kill Shogar with her lightsaber. Distrusting of Shaak Ti's mercy, Lyshaa tried to escape, but was killed in a lightstorm chamber protecting Tok's office. Brentaal IV was freed from Separatist control.
Personality and traits[]
- "Shaak Ti's the most cunning Jedi I've ever met. She even taught me a few tricks."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
Shaak Ti was an unusual Togruta and she preferred to operate alone where possible, being more solitary than most of her species. Before Fe Sun's death she focused most of her time on the Force. However after Sun's death, Shaak put more effort into lightsaber combat and unarmed combat, feeling that she spent too much time focusing on the Force and not enough time focusing on her physical skills. Shaak Ti felt that training was as important as experience and her dedication to her combat training eventually made her one of the most talented and well known fighters in the Jedi Order. Strangely, Shaak Ti's training style seemed better suited to a Jedi Guardian than a Jedi Consular, though she was exceptionally powerful in the Force.
Shaak Ti was well known for being extremely cunning, one of the most cunning warriors in the Jedi Order and she often brought up useful ideas. She was a natural leader and a talented strategist.
Shaak Ti was very reflective and contemplative. When the Clone Wars came, she would meditate on war and reflect about its effect on Jedi. Like the rest of the Order however she failed to see that Darth Sidious was controlling both sides of the war. She had many questions and increasingly little time to ponder on them. Her confusion about how Asajj Ventress had known the self-destruct sequence required to destroy the clones was one of many questions that she didn't have time to figure out due to the relentless demands of the war.
Shaak Ti also had a subtle sense of humour and was very compassionate always knowing how to comfort someone who needed it. Despite this she could have an unfeeling demeanor at times. Ahsoka Tano even noted that, by Togruta standards, Shaak Ti would technically be classified as sociopathic, though she acknowledged that this was only if her personality were judged purely in accordance to the Togruta species, not the definition of sociopathy at large.
Due to Shaak Ti's concern for the infant clones on Kamino, Asajj Ventress speculated that the Togruta's maternal instincts may have reflected a desire to become a mother. Shaak Ti never had children due to the rules of the Jedi Order but she frequently softened when she was around them.
Powers and abilities[]
Force powers[]
Noted for having an extraordinarily powerful connection to the Force, only falling short of the likes of Grand Master Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, his children, and Darth Sidious during her lifetime, Shaak Ti was one of the most powerful Jedi of not only her own time, but in the recorded history of the Order. She was a skilled healer using this power to heal clones on Kamino and keep herself alive and still able to fight after being shot in the stomach by Lyshaa. She was also a master of Force Barriers and Tutaminis, capable of deflecting and absorbing Force Lightning with her bare hands and even repel lightsaber strikes.
Shaak Ti was talented in the use of Telekinesis, able to lift multiple large objects with great dexterity and precision, a skill that advanced to a degree where she didn't even need to look at what she was lifting in order to manipulate them effectively. She was even able to wield her lightsaber telekinetically if she was deprived of it, preferring to keep it in her hand but completely capable of turning the blade into an independent weapon if necessary. Shaak Ti was also capable of moving with extraordinary speed and leaping long distances.
Shaak Ti had a strong connection with nature, able to sense the individual animals or plants around her. Thanks to this she was a master of Animal Friendship able to use the Force to calm and control the most vicious beasts. In her later years, her connection with nature extended to such a degree that she could control the plants around her. T'ra Saa noted that if Shaak Ti had been born a Neti, sentient plants with a natural connection to nature regardless of Force sensitivity, her power would have extended far enough to control not only her immediate environment but possibly even entire jungles.
During the Jedi Purge, Shaak Ti's exceptional Force power advanced to such a degree that she, along with fellow survivor T'ra Saa, kept the entire planet Felucia in balance, providing a place where the light side of the Force dominated the dark despite the overwhelming dark side influence around the rest of the Galaxy. Darth Sidious himself noted that Shaak Ti had become as powerful as Yoda by the time of the late Purge and Darth Vader reluctantly admitted to himself that he would be no match for her due to his Force connection being permanently weakened after Obi-Wan defeated him on Mustafar.
Lightsaber training[]
Shaak Ti was an exceptionally skilled lightsaber combatant, one of the greatest duellists of her time. She was a master of Makashi and Ataru, hybridizing both styles into a graceful, precise and agile combat style. Asajj Ventress, herself a highly skilled practitioner of both forms, acknowledged that Shaak Ti was the superior duellist during their brief encounter on Kamino and opted to flee after distracting the Togruta by endangering infant clones rather than continue the duel. Even Count Dooku, universally acknowledged as the greatest Form II master of the time, confirmed that Shaak Ti's mastery of Makashi was extremely close to rivalling his own, considering her to be the only Jedi alive during the Clone Wars who truly comprehended the nuances and efficiency of the style.
Shaak Ti also had some skill in Soresu and although this was neither her preferred nor strongest style, she had enough proficiency to survive the battle of Geonosis. This was aided by her natural Togruta physiology but Shaak was aware that the tiring acrobatics of Ataru and Makashi's weakness to blaster fire weren't practical in prolonged blaster engagements. Nonetheless in short term blaster battles, Shaak was so fast and precise that she could handle multiple opponents very quickly, only falling back on the defensive strokes of Form III when she started getting tired.
During the Battle of Coruscant, Shaak Ti was assigned to defend Chancellor Palpatine and, albeit with help from Roron Corobb and Foul Moudama, held off General Grievous and an army of his IG-100 MagnaGuards for an extended period of time, even holding off a dozen MagnaGuards single handed in the latter stages of the struggle, despite already being weary.
Mace Windu once said Shaak Ti was "as beautiful as a flower yet as deadly as a viper" and she was considered by him and Yoda, who were the most powerful Jedi alive by the time of the Clone Wars, to be one of the most talented warriors in the Jedi Order's history. Darth Sidious, after witnessing Shaak Ti's formidable skill first hand during the Battle of Coruscant, acknowledged that the Togruta Jedi Master would have been a serious problem if she'd accompanied Master Windu to arrest him, being relieved that Windu made the mistake of choosing considerably weaker Jedi.
Other abilities[]
Shaak Ti was skilled at hand to hand combat being able to hold her own against many opponents with her bare hands and was also capable of quickly adapting to wielding unfamiliar weapons, using anything around her to defend herself.
As a Togruta Shaak Ti had excellent spatial awareness and her montrals acted like a kind of radar allowing her to ultrasonically perceive her surroundings, which came in handy numerous times in the Clone Wars. It was partially thanks to this ability that she was able to survive the battle of Geonosis, despite her signature lightsaber styles not being great for deflecting blaster bolts, and she was able to ultrasonically sense bolts coming towards her in time to dodge or deflect them. She also used this ability on Brental IV again avoiding blaster bolts and was the first Jedi to hear General Grievous approaching during the battle of Coruscant, even pinpointing his exact location before he attacked.
