Sergon Security Services, abbreviated as SSS and commonly known as Triple S, was a private military contractor based on the planet Bruge. Established in 46 BBY by Mavrick Sergon, Sergon Security Services became one of the largest mercenary organizations in the galaxy and fought for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. After the Separatists lost the war, Triple S worked for the Galactic Empire. During the New Republic Era, Sergon Security Services became a member of the Corporate Council in the Confederacy of Corporate Systems, and was employed by many corporations in the CCS.

History[]

Republic Era[]

Sergon Security Services was established by retired mercenary Mavrick Sergon in 46 BBY on the planet Bruge in the Tion Cluster of the Outer Rim Territories. With the help of some investors, Sergon expanded the company throughout the galaxy over the next several years, and Triple S eventually became larger than most planetary defense forces with hundreds of thousands of personnel. SSS was employed by governments as well as private individuals and companies. On some occasions they brought legitimate safety and security to dangerous places and fought pirates, terrorists, and slavers. However, since Triple S was only concerned with making the most credits, they did numerous things that earned them a negative reputation amongst many.

When the Clone Wars broke out in 22 BBY, the Confederacy of Independent Systems made a contract with Sergon Security Services so that SSS would help in the Separatist war effort and never work for the Republic. In exchange, the Confederacy would pay SSS well and supply them with military equipment.

One of Triple S's most notable deployments was during the Battle of Jakol in 21 BBY, when Ogval Goshal of the Jakol Separatists a Sergon Security division to help the Separatists take the planet of Jakol. They were successful, and SSS forces were paid to "protect" Jakol until the planet was retaken by the Republic.

By 19 BBY, the contract between Sergon Security Services and the Confederacy of Independent Systems had collapsed due to the Separatists having financial issues in the later stages of the war. However, some CIS individuals continued to pay Sergon Security Services with their personal wealth.

Imperial Era[]

When the Galactic Empire was established after the end of the Clone Wars, some SSS leaders feared that the company would be dissolved and nationalized. Instead, the Empire chose to keep Sergon Security Services and let them control the planet Bruge as long as Triple S would work for the Empire at a reduced price. So that is what Sergon Security Services agreed to do, and throughout the Imperial Era, Triple S served the Empire and continued being employed by private individuals and organizations. During the Galactic Civil War, Sergon Security Services fought against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. After the Battle of Endor, the Empire stopped employing Triple S and many stormtroopers deserted the Imperial Army to join Triple S so that they could continue to earn a living through fighting.

New Republic Era[]

In 5 ABY, Sergon Security Services joined an alliance of corporations and conglomerates that were establishing the Confederacy of Corporate Systems, a new government ruled by corporations. Although the Confederacy of Corporate Systems Security Forces was the official military branch of the CCS, Triple S was often considered to be the military as their forces were found throughout Confederacy territory. Although the CCS corporations typically had their own security, they often employed Triple S because they were usually superior fighters. The deals made with corporations in the Confederacy meant that Sergon Security Services did not need many contracts beyond CCS territory, although they still operated throughout the known galaxy.

By the time of the Cold War, Sergon Security Services was possibly the largest private military in the galaxy. The First Order, the Empire's successor state, was planning to destroy the New Republic and invade the whole galaxy. However, the First Order military was actually only a small fraction of the old Imperial Military, so the First Oder High Command reluctantly accepted the fact that they would need help to conquer the galaxy and restore the Empire. The First Order made a non-aggression deal with Sergon Security Services and told Triple S to assist the First Order in exchange for more territory and power. Following the Hosnian Cataclysm, Triple S attacked space neighboring the Confederacy of Corporate Systems in order to expand the government's territory.

Sergon Security Services was commanded by the Supreme Commander and the Sergon Security High Command. The High Command was made up of every general and admiral in Triple S.

Organization[]

Sergon Security Services was split into two branches; Sergon Security Ground Services and Sergon Security Naval Services.

Main article: Sergon Security Ground Services

The Ground Services consisted of Sergon Security troopers and ground vehicles. The smallest unit was a squad, made up of twelve troopers and led by a sergeant. Four squads made up a platoon commanded by a lieutenant, three platoons made up a company led by a captain, and five companies were in a battalion led by a commander. A brigade consisted of six battalions led by a colonel, a division was made of three brigades (12,960 troopers) commanded by a major general, and finally a corps consisted of two to six divisions led by a general. There were six corps during the Clone Wars.

Main article: Sergon Security Naval Services

The Naval Services consisted of fleets each led by an admiral. Fleets could be split up into task forces. During the Clone Wars, there were four fleets and one or two corps was attached to each fleet. The Triple S Armada often used second-hand capital ships from the CIS and Empire.

Behind the scenes[]

Sergon Security Services was heavily inspired by the Black Hand, a fictional private military organization featured in the Just Cause series that works for dictators and has highly advanced military equipment. In real-life private military contractors do not have tanks, warships, and military aircraft, but the author liked the concept of a powerful mercenary organization in Star Wars, as the nature of the galaxy would probably allow for such a group, and despite mercenaries seemingly being very common there are few developed mercenary organizations in Canon or Legends.
