Old Republic eraRise of the Empire era

The Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy was a governmental organization of several planets located in the Senb'An'Tiin star system. It had been in existence for almost 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire.

History[]

Conflict with Elecria[]

Around 4,000 BBY, the leaders of planet of Elecria decided to expand the territory of their kingdom and began military operations on several worlds, including Vur'Lua, Uthel, and Shiib. They used various methods in order to deceive the governments of other countries, including the display of respect and friendliness, but in reality, they were preparing fleets and armies to conquer these worlds.

Eventually, the Uthelian authorities learned the truth and began their own preparations in an attempt to stop the Elecrians. Little did they know, however, that the enemy made a secret agreement with the Sith Empire that already established its own military base on Elecria.

A strike team was formed after the first military units from Elecria were destroyed, and sent right to the enemy's capital, where they managed to destroy the Sith base as well as military plants. They wanted to capture the Elecrian Emperor Arzar Esmut, but he committed a suicide before being found by the enemy.

After the war, a peace agreement was made between Elecria, Uthel, and Anarmar. Although Shiib was the aggrieved party in the conflict, it decided not to be involved in this process.

Peace Agreement[]

The agreement was signed in the city of Naijil, Uthel. It established the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy, which was a trade, military, and political union of three planets that agreed to help each other in case of conflicts and complicated issues.

The document included the main provisions concerning the legislative and judicial systems, currency in use, tax systems, rights and obligations of the parties and many others.

It was also stated that new members may enter this organization if they wish. However, a very complex procedure was defined in case of a secession of one of the members.

First reformation[]

With the development of infrastructures on Anarmar, it was decided to move the headquarters of the Confederacy to a new place — Anarmar Ring City. A large building was constructed in one of the prefectures, including the Planetary Assembly Complex, the Living Apartments for the representatives, the Confederacy Library, and others.

It was also decided that all three members would be independent in almost every single way except for foreign policy; thus, Uthel was not any longer in charge of overlooking Elecria and forming Police forces for Anarmar. It was also decided to elaborate a constitution, or at least an agreement that would replace the old agreement of 3,955 BBY.

There was no constitution, but instead some amendments were added to the text of the main agreement.

Later on, new members were accepted in the ranks of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy. Prolla was a primitive world that sought the help and support of other organizations. It was during this time that the local government made two agreements: one with Anarmar and the other with the Trade Federation. The two decided to help the undeveloped world convert into one of the advanced mining facilities.

Battle for Anarmar[]

In 31 BBY, the administration of Prolla declared its complete independence from the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy, as well as a refusal to pay the interests from mining activities on Prolla (instead, the Trade Federation would get more). Anarmar wanted to resolve the conflict through peaceful means, but Prolla would sent advanced battle droids to the city. Several groups of mercenaries landed on Anarmar as well.

The Prime Minister Adrio Velenno had to leave the planet and hide on Shiib for several weeks, but later he returned with the support of his people from Uthel and Elecria. He learnt that for some reason, the battle droids began to malfunction and were destroyed by the local citizens, and the mercenaries had to flee.

Second reformation[]

Prolla became independent in 30 BBY, but soon after the conflict, the planet of Shiib decided to become the associate member of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy. A new agreement was made, that resembled the first document in many provisions, with a new part concerning the rights and obligations of an associate member.

Actually, it was the civil war on Shiib that was the reason why this planet would join the Union. If not the attempts of the Prime Minister of Anarmar, the planet would suffer the worst consequences it could imagine.

The Clone Wars[]

In 21 BBY, a new Prime Minister was elected — Duvar Enego, who had been a Security Minister for years prior to this new post. During his his career he adopted several changes:

  • The reformation of the Anarmar Police Corps, so that it could serve the needs of the planets-members.
  • The reorganization of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy into a Senb'An'Tiin Federation.
  • Joining the Galactic Republic.

Not all of these changes came into effect at once: the citizens and the governments needed proof that all these objectives were justified. Very soon nobody had any doubts, that the measures, taken by the new Prime Minister, were of utmost importance for the Senb'An'Tiin — when Elecria joined the CIS together with Prolla.

A group of Anarmar Security Forces was sent there only to perish in a dreadful battle.

Just after that Duvar Enego made an agreement with Palpatine, and Anarmar was converted into a Republic military base, several legions of clonetroopers were sent to Elecria to stop the Elecrian revolutionaries, Trade Federation battle droids, and other military units of the CIS.

It took some time before the Separatists struck back; this time, they tried to invade Uthel, but they lost the majority of their troops there and had to hide again soon.

After the establishment of the Galactic Empire, the Senb'An'Tiin Federation was dissolved. All its members were turned into the Imperial territories.

Known Members[]

Initial members:

  • Uthel
  • Elecria
  • Anarmar

New (later) members:

  • Prolla
  • Shiib (associate member)

Political organization[]

The main body of the Confederacy was the Planetary Assembly, that consisted of representatives of the planets-members. There was no single leader; instead, the rulers of each planet had to be present altogether in case of taking a serious decision. They were all equal in their rights and responsibilities.

After the transformation into a Federation, the post of Head of State was established.

Military organization[]

Just after the conflict with Elecria, the planets-members decided to create their own army. However, it was Uthel that was providing the alliance with security and police forces. On Anarmar, the Uthelian units formed the so-called Anarmar Police Corps, and on Elecria, almost every commander was from Uthel, but the soldiers were mainly Elecrians.

In 31 BBY, Duvar Enego raised for the first time a question of reforming the existing security measures.

With the beginning of the Clone Wars, the army of the Republic was the main organization maintaining order in the cities. Later, Imperial stormtroopers were patrolling the streets, and there was no need for a new army or police.

Behind the scenes[]

The Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy — the name as well as the form of government, possibly, was derived from the Swiss Confederation, the only confederacy that exists nowadays in the world. Actually, it should be considered a federation, although it was called a confederation. Another example is Senegambia Confederation that was dissolved in 1989; instead, the Republic of The Gambia and Senegal were formed as two different states.
