Selun T. H. Oonba was a Human male salvager born in the Roxuli asteroids in 63 BBY. He was a private person who remained a bachelor his whole life despite the wishes of his mother.

Biography[]

The son of miners Dax and Fyllice Oonba, Selun began earning a wage by the time he was six years old by collecting broken and discarded equipment which he repaired for his Uncle Molsen's shop. When he was eleven, he was selected by Crew Chief Jlium Fode to be part of a team to salvage an abandoned starship that had drifted near the asteroids. After helping recover a rare component in the ship's hyperdrive, Oonba succeeded in impressing Fode enough that he became a regular member of salvage operations in the Roxuli system. When he was nineteen, his mother attempted to persuade him to marry Shelri Jossun, a cook at the local medcenter. Instead, Selun accepted a job working with a crew of traveling salvagers run by an Ossa named Gool Enlorbi. Among Enlorbi's crew was Zov Heshnik, B-6TT, and an obese Gran named Bozzol Nawry.

After Enlorbi passed away in 40 BBY, the crew sold the droid and went their separate ways. Oonba purchased a retrofitted Bikoland Industrial Susma3-class ore hauler and began salvaging alone. For the next forty years, he stayed in the lesser traveled parts of the Mid Rim, often facing down pirates and smugglers to obtain salvage. He became something of a legend among spacers and pirates in some of his more frequently visited areas of operation so scum and villainy eventually respected him enough that they rarely bothered him. At some point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, he came across a derelict freighter called the Wookiee Judicial. He recovered it and eventually sold it to a young Wookiee named Grahaark in 0 BBY. Because the Wookiee was a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Oonba was arrested and served three months in a penitentiary. He would have served a ten year sentence but he was released on a 1,500 credit bail because of his cooperation with the authorities and good behavior while locked up.

After being released, he moved his operations to the worlds along the Shiritoku Spur where he remained until it started seeing First Order activity. Hoping to avoid the war, he headed deeper into Wild Space to salvage there. Later, failing health caused him to decide to retire to Jocade where he died peacefully in 34 ABY. He left his fortune to an ambitious young Wookiee salvager named Tenchanak.
