This article is about the Second Order of Lettow. You may be looking for the Legions of Lettow.

The Second Order of Lettow, often referred to as just the Lettow, was a dark side sect organized by an ex-Dark Jedi of the Bogan, Gareth Sode. The Order remained hidden for most of the First Hutt War, consolidating its power base on Kalakar VI while carefully making alliances and recruiting members. In the waining days of the First Hutt conflict, the Order made itself known by openly allying itself with the Hutt Empire. It then moved its headquarters to Vergesso Prime in the Vergesso Asteroids, where it reorganized its priorities, militarized, and joined the war against the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order; though secretly, its goals were to eliminate the Dark Jedi Empire and become the true "heirs" to the dark side.

History[]

Formation[]

The Second Order of Lettow began with a dissenter amongst the ranks of the Dark Jedi of the Bogan. Gareth Sode, its founder, had joined the Dark Jedi as an Acolyte many months before the founding of the Order. In his mind, the Dark Jedi were becoming soft; too worried with proving themselves to the Jedi and the Republic, than to really study and develop their true dark powers. His doubts in their resolve deepened when they abandoned traditional training in favor of "training missions" where experience and success became the training regiment instead of tutelage in the dark arts, and experience in lightsaber dueling. Finally, when the Dark Jedi formed an alliance with the Hutt Empire, Gareth left the Bogan to start his own dark side cult; ironically, his Order would do the same thing years later.[3]

Escaping the Bogan proved to be more troublesome than he had thought it would. The leader of the Bogan did not like the idea of a member of their fold abandoning them, especially on philosophical differences. Several assassins were sent after Gareth to claim his life. In fear for his life and the future of his plans, Gareth was force to look for a safe haven beyond known space.

He found sanctuary on the moon of a world beyond the borders of both the Republic and the Hutt Empire; Kalakar Six, which orbited the planet of Dromund Kalakar. There he discovered a dark side nexus and built a temple with the help of the Force. He then set to work building his new Order. The first problem that arose was from where to derive his teachings. He recalled the dark texts that had been used to found the Dark Jedi of the Bogan, the teachings of the Dark Jedi, Xendor who had formed the Legions of Lettow following the First Great Schism. Gareth began studying these ancient texts and began to become more and more sure that the Bogan had strayed from Xendor's teachings in favor of their own methods and thus, in his mind, had weakened themselves and tainted the dark side itself in the process.

Later in his studies, Gareth found a secret power of the dark side involving alchemy and "dark side magic" as he called it that allowed one to spawn creatures of pure evil with the aid of the dark side of the Force. Using these discoveries along with Xendor's teachings, Gareth named his new order the Second Order of Lettow, in reference to Xendor's first Order. He then decided that his Order would work in the shadows until it became strong enough to oppose its Dark Jedi 'parent', and then, they would strike and replace them as the true heirs of the Dark Side. Of course, there was still the Jedi to deal with, but Gareth decided he would deal with them when the time finally came.

Forming Alliances[]

At some point after all of this, the Second Lettow Order was discovered by the Luminado Mercenaries and approached with a deal; in exchange with help training their members, as well as sanctuary on Lettow controlled worlds, the Luminado would supply ships, credits, and men to aid the Lettow's cause. Seeing this as a means to gain further influence in the galaxy, Gareth accepted, allying the Lettow and the Luminado.

First Hutt War[]

Death of a Jedi Master[]

The Order remained hidden for many months until Gareth had found a reasonable target; the ex-Jedi and ex-Ospion Guardian, Taecelle Selena, whom he had tracked to the world of Taris. His plans were interrupted by Jedi Master Haar. He then engaged Haar in a duel, resulting in the Master's death, however, Taecelle, whom he'd beaten moments earlier, arose to defend her former student, Haar, and managed to cause Gareth to retreat.

Alliance with the Hutts[]

At the end of the First Hutt War, Gareth made an alliance with the Hutts in exchange for control of the Lybeya System in the Outer Rim. The Hutt leader, Tusa Ujalli Hai, agreed to this so long as the Order trained agents for the Hutt Emperor's Darksaber project. Gareth agreed, solidifying the alliance and then moved his followers to Vergesso. Once settled there, he disbanded the Second Order and reorganized it into the Order of Xendor.

Organization[]

Dark Lord[]

The Dark Lord was the leader of the Order. He made all of the final decisions for the Order and set the example for its younger members.

High Prophet[]

The High Prophet was the second-in-command of the Order, as well as the Dark Lord's apprentice. The High Prophet was chosen by the Dark Lord himself and could only be replaced at the Dark Lord's word, or on the occurrence of death.

Dark Council[]

The ruling body of the Second Order, the Dark Council was composed of four of the Order's wisest members, appointed to advise the Dark Lord. The current High Prophet always sat on the Council, and was its leader.

Dark Masters[]

A Master was a member of the Order who had shown substantial potential and mastery of the dark side of the Force and of their lightsaber prowess. They usually had a high mission success rate and had trained numerous hopefuls in the ways of darkness. Two of the Order's best Masters were always chosen to sit on the Dark Council, which advised the Dark Lord himself.

Dark Prophets[]

A Dark Prophet was equal to a Master in terms of Force power or lightsaber mastery. The difference lay in their application of the Force. Dark Prophets had a high talent for being able to see the future through the Force. Their ability to sense beings and events in the Force was also usually unusually high. The best of these prophets was always selected to sit on the Dark Council.

Shadows[]

A Shadow was the Order's equivalent of a Jedi Knight or a Crusader for the Dark Jedi. They made up the bulk of the Order. Shadows had completed training under a Master and had begun their own studies in the hopes of becoming a Master. They also start doing missions for the Order at the Dark Lord's bidding. Shadows also trained apprentices, though they were often less effective than an actual Dark Master.

Apprentices[]

An Apprentice was the lowest rank of the entire Order. They were the hopefuls that were tutored by Shadows and Masters in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. They usually remained at the Temple, though they occasionally would go on missions with their teachers.
