Saquehl Crest was a male Quarren born on Pammant, some time before the Clone Wars began. Crest was conscripted into service with the Confederacy of Independent Systems and by 19 BBY had achieved the rank of admiral in the Confederate Navy.

With the fall of the Confederacy, Crest was among many Separatist officers who refused armistice. Instead, Saquehl established his own resurgent group in the Outer Rim Territories. The admiral was a strong critic of the Empire and fought them on various occasions.

Closing in on the battle of Yavin, Saquehl and his remaining forces were reluctantly recruited into the Alliance to Restore the Republic and placed under the command of officer Beya Ar'Lya.

In 12 ABY, Saquehl was separated from Beya's unit and granted command of his own fleet.

Before the Clone Wars[]

Clone Wars[]

The Dark Times[]

In the days after the sacking of the Jedi Temple, the Confederacy's defeat became all but certain to Saquehl, and he quietly started pooling away resources.

Forthcoming from his hatred of the Galactic Republic, Saquehl enjoyed no better opinion of its replacement, the Empire. This only deteriorated as time went on, as the political situation worsened and the galaxy held fewer liberties. At this time, Saquehl commanded a fleet of primarily Confederate warships that roamed the Outer Rim, raiding Imperial facilities on occasion. The Empire's mirror image of the Republic only enhanced his belief in the former Separatist Alliance. Monument to his beliefs and opinions, Saquehl established a base near the Calamari sector and operated primarily in that vicinity.

Imperial officers often considered Saquehl part of the "upstart Mon Calamari", which was insulting to the Quarren in various ways; he himself not being Mon Calamari nor considering himself a revolutionary but instead a surviving Separatist leader. Saquehl continued to raid Imperial bases and territories around the sector and eventually got the attention he desired. Saquehl became target of Terrinald Screed's retaliating Tenth Army in his campaign to reconquer the Outer Rim, culminating in the devastating battle near Pammant where a large section of Saquehl's forces were destroyed.

Saquehl's flagship, the Providence-class Ghost of Oblivion, was boarded by Imperial marine forces under command of Tartarus, a Stormtrooper Commander operating with officer Elgar Finn. Marine forces on both sides operated poorly, but the Imperial forces were victorious and charged the Quarren for war crimes.

Saquehl's trial was held in private, due to the Quarren's origins and the dangers of rekindling both Mon Calamari and Quarren unrest. Saquehl spent his time in prison for over a decade. Due to the nature of his crimes, Saquehl was imprisoned in the Bastion, an Imperial prison located in the Unknown Regions.

Service in the Alliance[]

Saquehl ultimately survived the horrors of the Empire, but his mistreatment cemented his hatred for the Empire even further. During a mass breakout in the years leading up to the battle of Yavin, he managed to escape and was brought to the Alliance.

He was offered a position in the Alliance Navy, under the condition he would forsake his strong Separatist beliefs. To achieve this, Saquehl was placed under admiral Beya Ar'Lya, a composed Bothan officer who strongly shared Saquehl's opinions on the Empire but lacked his brashness. Saquehl's forces were distributed among the Alliance fleet, albeit none were counted among Beya's forces. Saquehl was given command of the Assault Frigate Mark I Domus.

New Republic service[]

His flagship was eventually supplanted with the introduction of the MC80B Star Cruiser, gaining command of the Mon Sion and making up the backbone of the New Republic Sixth Fleet.

The Quarren loyally served the Bothan for years to come, up until the liberation of Foron in 12 ABY when he and his ally and friend Vaas Gul were promoted and placed in charge of their own fleets.

At the outbreak of the Imperial Skirmishes, Saquehl was prepared for war but the New Republic failed to deploy him, instead electing Saquehl's former mentor Beya as one of the campaign's military leaders. Initially feeling bypassed, Saquehl found peace in knowing that Beya routed their joint nemesis, Elgar Finn, during the battle of Ord Terath.

When hostilities died down, Crest lobbied for utterly destroying the Imperial Remnant, citing the New Republic's previous victories and confident in their ability to crush the Empire for once and for all. His pleads went unhead, and the war ended with the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty.

Post–Galactic Civil War[]

Saquehl posed himself as a great critic of the Bastion Accords, sharing the believe that the Empire best be destroyed.

Following the end of the Galactic Civil War, Crest was placed on a backburner with the New Republic Defense Fleet and remained in reserve up until the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Characteristics[]

He was known for his brash and aggressive tactics, which during the time of the New Republic translated into overconfidence and strong nationalism, in particular against the Empire. As a result, during the talks of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom treaty, Saquehl consistently pushed for harsher restrictions against the Imperial Remnant, to no avail.
