Name's Sam, by the way. Samantha... if I were putting on airs.
—Samantha D'callo.
Samantha D'callo – known as Sam by her friends and more formally Queen D'callo following her coronation in 27 ATC – was a female Twi'lek who lived on Voryle during the Third Galactic War.
She was the only child of Prime Minister Namos D'callo, and spent most of her life criticizing her father's oppressive government while taking more direct action against his Imperial allies on the planet.
During her mid-teens Samantha met and befriended Countess Patrice LaLenna, the only pro-Republic figure on Voryle's ruling council. It was LaLenna who encouraged Samantha to become more vocal in her opposition of her father and his government's oppressive policies which – while ultimately ineffective – endeared her to the working classes she was fighting to defend.
In 27 ATC Samantha began working with Isla Ahnkett and her gang – the Cobbled Terentateks – by providing them with advice and intelligence that she was uniquely placed to acquire. She also participated in several raids on Rabid Akk – the Sith Empire's proxy on Voryle – holdings alongside Ahnkett, despite the Chiss' initial objections.
Thanks to her persistence Ahnkett eventually confided in Samantha about her ongoing mental health problems, allowing the Twi'lek to assist in her recovery and ultimately leading to the pair becoming romantically involved.
When it was revealed that Samantha was the daughter of the Prime Minister D'callo, however, Ahnkett angrily broke off their relationship, though their separation did not last long. After Samantha risked her life to assist Ahnkett in the killing of a colossal Sithspawn loosed upon the city by Sith Lord Sera Artofen, the pair resumed their relationship.
Following the successful thwarting of Artofen's plot, her subsequent departure from Voryle and Namos D'callo's death at the hands of Ahnkett, Samantha was propelled into the role of Acting Prime Minister against her wishes and Ahnkett was summoned to Coruscant for debriefing, prematurely ending their romance.
With Ahnkett gone, Samantha begrudgingly stepped into her role as Voryle's temporary head of government, unaware that her ally Countess LaLenna had spent the entirety of Samantha's time with Ahnkett scheming behind her back; shortly after taking charge, the remaining members of the ruling council put forth a bill to disband the government and implement a monarchy – with Samantha as regent – to ensure "swift and decisive decision making" that would allow the damage caused by the late Prime Minister to be dealt with quickly and without bureaucratic delays.
Blackmailed and strong-armed by LaLenna, the rest of the council were given little choice but to support Samantha and – after almost a full day in the debating chamber – the bill was passed, leaving the councilors relieved of their duties and free to enjoy an early retirement while their collective authority passed to Samantha, the first queen of Voryle.
During her reign, Samantha enlisted Bibi Jotto – one of the Cobbled Terentateks' lieutenants prior to her coronation – as her head of security. The pair became romantically involved, though Samantha insisted on discretion in the hopes of avoiding scrutiny from her critics, which remained a point of friction in their relationship until 29 ATC.
Midway through the year, the Sith made another attempt to sway Voryle into joining the Empire by supporting a coup launched by Gunam Drahm, a businessman who had benefitted immensely from his friendship with Samantha's father. Forced to go into hiding with Bibi when Gunam and his troops stormed the throne room, Samantha eventually regained control of the planet with the help of Isla and her partner Zhavi Waverunner, supported by the Cobbled Terentateks.
Despite the newfound strength of her position, Samantha suffered severe personal losses in the aftermath of the conflict; Rissessk – Countess LaLenna's butler and Samantha's friend – died protecting her from a Sith assassin, while Bibi elected to end her own life to repair a wound in the Force created as a result of her resurrection via a collection of powerful artifacts the previous year.
Bibi's demise healed the wound and put a stop to negative effects it was having on the local residents, but sadly the pressure of Samantha's position coupled with the death of her old friend and romantic partner left her demoralized, isolated and feeling out of place on her homeworld, leading to her abdication.
Appointing Countess LaLenna as her replacement and gifted a D5-Mantis Patrol Craft dubbed the Eternal Sovereign by her Hutt ally Tabassa, Samantha departed Voryle in search of a new life, eventually becoming the right hand of underworld kingpin Mister Crimson, head of the smuggling operation known as Crimson Wave.
