Sam Beckett Archer was a Human male who was an Admiral in the Confederation of Free Planets fleet and during the Clone Wars in the Republic Navy, the Imperial Navy, the New Republic Navy, Galactic Alliance Navy and later a Grand Admiral in the Imperial Navy of the New Galactic Empire.

Early life[]

Sam Beckett Archer was born in 57 BBY to Henry Archer, a renowned Republic scientist, and his wife Sally Archer, a teacher at a Republic school.

Galactic Republic[]

In 33 BBY, Sam joined the Galactic Republic and by 22 BBY Sam was an Admiral in the Republic Navy.

Clone Wars[]

Battle of Coruscant

The Battle of Coruscant

In 22 BBY, the Clone Wars started on the planet Geonosis and Sam served with Master Yoda at the Forward Command Center, from there Sam commanded clone troopers and directed the battle. Here, CRC-09/571 informed Yoda that the forward positions of the clones were advancing on Separatist forces. Yoda's order to target the nearest Core ship was relayed to the artillery units from the center. In 19 BBY Admiral Archer commanded the fleet during the Battle of Coruscant against the Separatist fleet from the Venator-class Star Destroyer Destiny. In 19 BBY the Destiny with Archer onboard, transported CC-2009, CC-5052 and Jedi General Aayla Secura to Endor for a mission on the planet. Following the mission to Endor the Destiny transported CC-2009, the 52nd Star Corps, Alpha Company and the 42nd Assault Squad to the planet Felucia. While the Intrepid transported CC-5052 and Jedi General Aayla Secura to the planet Felucia.

He apparently knew about Project 239, a top-secret Republic project to develop transporter technology.

Imperial Service[]

After Order 66, Archer served in the Imperial Navy as the commanding officer on the Venator-class Star Destroyer Destiny. Admiral Archer helped Darth Vader search for Ion Team, a clone trooper unit that did not follow Order 66. Later, CC-2009 and the 52nd Star Corps and CC-1119 and the 501st Legion captured Ion Team took them back to Darth Vader.

New Republic and Galactic Alliance[]

Later Archer served in the New Republic and the Galactic Alliance. Admiral Archer fought in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong. After the Yuuzhan Vong were forced out of the galaxy, Archer served in the Galactic Alliance after the Galactic Alliance overthrew the New Republic. The Jedi soon overthrew the Galactic Alliance and became the next government, and later started the Confederation of Free Planets, which Archer and the rest of the clones worked under and became part of the military. They each got assigned a Jedi general to work under.

Confederation of Free Planets[]

During the time of the Confederation of Free Planets, Archer like every other CFP commanders, worked under a Jedi General. Archer worked under Ozzik Ozzel along with Fox and Typhuss. Archer commanded the fleet to stop Cad Bane and his bounty hunter group but failed to stop Bane's fleet. Later Cad Bane lead a group of bounty hunters to attack the base. The clone troopers battled the bounty hunters and won the battle. Hours later Yuuzhan Vong starships attacked the base and another battle took place with Archer leading the fleet against the Yuuzhan Vong fleet. Later Confederate commandos and ARC troopers made their way through the base and took it over, freeing the system from Vong occupation. During the Second Yuuzhan Vong Invasion, Archer fought in the Battle of Pantora against Yuuzhan Vong worldships. The LAAT gunships launched from the Destiny made it through the blockade, as Admiral Archer's Star Destroyers engaged the Yuuzhan Vong worldships. Later Admiral Archer commanded the Confederate forces in the Battle of Centax 8 against the Yuuzhan Vong forces from the Star Destroyer Destiny. Later after Order 66, Admiral Archer commanded the Confederate forces in the Battle of Aqualish against the Jedi and after the battle changed course for the Endor system.

Death[]

In 10 ABY, Admiral Archer led the Confederate forces in battle against the Jedi at Endor. When the Battlemoon was destroyed, Admiral Archer was killed.

Legacy[]

One year after his death, he was considered by Commander Typhuss, as the "greatest Admiral of the Confederation". Archer was widely credited with saving the Confederation of Free Planets from the Jedi.

Return[]

New Galactic Empire[]

After the Battlemoon was destroyed, Archer was captured by the Jedi. In 13 ABY Archer escaped from the Jedi and later joined the Empire. Later, Archer was demoted to Captain until the Emperor could get him a Star Destroyer to command.

Defense of Bastion[]

Archer fought in the Defense of Bastion, when the Malfoy Cartel criminal gang attacked the planet. The defense of Bastion was successful.

The Vong[]

After the Peace treaty on Coruscant, Archer and the Empire allied themselves with the Cartel to fight the Yuuzhan Vong. He fought alongside CC-2009.

Battle of Negui[]

Archer fought in the Battle of Negui, a group of primitive people who inhabited the planet, called the Republic Nation, who could use elements like water, earth, air and fire supported the Vong and had an airship convoy that was transporting a powerful artifact to a Vong airfield, where it was going to be used by them. The New Galactic Empire destroyed the artifact. The battle was a victory for the Empire.

Assault on Caldera City[]

Archer fought in the Assault on Caldera City on the planet of Negui between the New Galactic Empire and the Republic Nation, people who supported the Yuuzhan Vong, during the Fourth Yuuzhan Vong Invasion. The battle was victory for the Republic Nation, who got revenge on the Empire for destroying their airship fleet at the Battle of Negui.

Later years[]

Archer was promoted to Grand Admiral. Later, Archer along with Shadow Guard Lieutenant Aero, mentored Typhuss's son, Jonathan Heron as he joined the Imperial military.

Death during the New Imperial Civil War[]

In 35 ABY, Grand Admiral Archer was killed when an out of control Y-wing starfighter crashed into his ship's bridge, killing him and the rest of his crew during the New Imperial Civil War.

Behind the scenes[]

Archer's first name of Sam and middle name of Beckett is a reference to Samuel Beckett, the protagonist in the series Quantum Leap, who was also played by Scott Bakula. The character's last name of Archer is a reference to Jonathan Archer, the protagonist in the series Star Trek: Enterprise, who was also played by Scott Bakula.
