Sal Tyrius was a male Arkanian Vigo of Black Sun.

Biography[]

Born in 3 ABY, Sal Tyrius was the curator of the Diamond Chest on his home world of Arkania. Tyrius saw great value (both sentimental and monetary) in historic artifacts and had studied the histories of all major galactic powers, from the Old Republic to the Mandalorians to the Sith. He prided himself in being more knowledgeable than not just other Arkanians but any other intelligent being in the galaxy.[1]

Because of the vast wealth he had accumulated from his business, Tyrius became one of the first to be recruited into Xalren's Black Sun and was named the "eldest" of the Vigos. He was suspected to have ties with the scientist Mal Banvor, funding the Skakoan's laboratories.[1]

While serving as Prince Xalren's top lieutenant, Tyrius also had ties to the secretive Society, now known as the Malvis Cabal. In 34 ABY, he approached Dramkos the Despised, ruler of Ord Talavos where Black Sun had established a base, with an offer to join the Malvis Cabal in order to get out from under Prince Xalren's rule.[2]

In 40 ABY, the Sith Varon Krul sold Tyrius the amulet of Vorak Zal in exchange for a holocron belonging to Darth Vidius.[3] Some time later, Tyrius was visited and interrogated by Wraith Squadron for his ties with the Imperial Moff Drikl Lecersen. After directing them to Orinda, where the Imperial Remnant would be hosting an event, Tyrius returned to his work only to then be held at gun point by Kadar. The Mandalorian bounty hunter, on a crusade to execute Black Sun's Vigos, proceeded to kill Tyrius before leaving to follow the Wraiths to Orinda.[4]

As it would turn out, however, the Sal Tyrius that Kadar had killed on Arkania had in fact been a clone body, a byproduct of the Arkanian's interest in genetics. Because of this, Tyrius was able to survive via another one of his clone bodies, which had the memories of the one that Kadar had killed. With Black Sun's collapse, Tyrius ended up joining the Malvis Cabal, serving as one of their operatives. Around this time, he acquired the Kalevalen star yacht First Light, which his operatives had stolen from the pirate queen Kestora.[5]

By 42 ABY, the Malvis Cabal had established operations on Corellia, operating from the stationary First Light. In that year, Tyrius visited Thrackan Sal-Solo, who had recently declared himself head of state. The Arkanian curator informed Sal-Solo of the existence of an artifact that would prove Sal-Solo's relation to the royal House of Solo and legitimize his claim to Corellia's throne.[5]
