Sai cha was one of the nine marks of lightsaber combat, and referred to the act of decapitating an opponent with the lightsaber blade. The sai cha vault was a variation of sai cha which involved Ataru-style gymnastics. Jedi preferred to kill with a shiak strike, when killing was necessary, but accepted sai cha as an honorable alternative. Centurions often preferred sai cha as a killing blow because of its finality.

Notable uses[]

During the Battle of Taanab, Tirien Kal-Di cut off Churka's head after the Swokes Swokes proved resistant to the pain of shiak strikes.[1]

After cutting off his arm and cutting out his legs, Darth Vandak finally killed Krajjey by beheading him.[2]

The Jedi Knight Kenza Rowkwani preferred to use sai cha, as her Ataru style lent itself better to slashes than stabs. She killed Basceron on Alpheridies with a sai cha,[3] and killed Eviar Seldec by slashing his throat while trying for one.

During the Engagement at Haerch, Rajj-Yo decapitated former Red Eclipse leader Zhin-Vel with a leaping sai cha.

Elrabin Ralvik killed Karshi Saan on Awpierh by cutting off the deranged Iktotchi's head in a moment of distraction.

Breek Zagrev killed the Jedi Master Halambo with sai cha.
