It was usually mounted in pairs, and was used both on stationary fortifications and the mobile TL-L38 artillery. The SG26's insides could be refitted to fit several types of ammunition. The most infamous types were proton mortars, which were effective at any range against most units, the napalm grenade, a terrifying anti-infantry pyrotechnic weapon, and thermal detonators, the well-known thermal bomb.
It launched its projectiles with a magnetic rail gun technique, but some of its ordnance also had a chemical propellant. Some projectiles, such as rockets, shells, and mortars, were also coated in energy to reinforce them, so they had greater armor-piercing ability.
