Rugiph Vumdoth was a male Pofuran officer that bore the rank of commander in the Confederacy of Independent Systems' naval branch during the Clone Wars. While descended from the native inhabitants of Pofura, Vumdoth himself was born centuries after the world was destroyed by the Hutt Cartel for the perceived danger that it posed to the myriad of illegal businesses that their criminal empire conducted through the Slice, yet despite this, Rugiph nonetheless considered the ravaged planet his proper homeworld and inherited an intense hatred of the Hutts for their heinous crimes against his species. Like many Pofuran residents of the Outer Rim Territories, Vumdoth was receptive towards the speech of inflammatory rhetoric that Count Dooku delivered during the Raxus Address and subsequently joined the burgeoning Separatist Alliance during its gradual road to war. Prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, a pan-galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy, Commander Vumdoth distinguished himself during his service within the Separatist Navy, acquiring numerous scars while conducting campaigns against pirates and Hutt-affiliated smuggling activities within space controlled by the secessionist government. Later, historical accounts of the Clone Wars credited Commander Rugiph Vumdoth among the several famed Pofurans that became rallying points for other members of their species that sought to reunite their scattered people from across the stars, but despite his unflinching dedication to the Confederacy of Independant Systems, the commander treated any member of his species — even those aligned with the Republic and its supporters — with the respect that any of his kinfolk were due.
