Rom Staam was a male Iktotchi Jedi Master who lived during the twilight years of the Old Republic.
Biography[]
Rom Staam was born on the icy moon of Iktotch and taken into the Jedi Order at an early age. Rising through the ranks of his creche-mates, Staam became apprenticed to a Jedi Master before eventually graduating to the rank of Jedi Knight. Around 48 BBY, Staam took on the hardheaded Morin Tharr as his Padawan learner, though their relationship was a tenuous one at best. Over time however, both master and student learned to respect one another and Staam was more than proud to see Tharr's elevation to the rank of Jedi Knight.
Now a Jedi Master, Staam decided to undertake a sabbatical from the Jedi Order so he could expand his knowledge on the Force. His travels brought him to the spiritual moon of Jedha, where he meditated near the Temple of the Kyber. After five years, Staam ended his sabbatical and returned to the Jedi Order.
Shortly after his return however, Staam received a private summons from his old compatriot Dooku, who had recently left the Order during Staam's absence. Traveling to Serenno, Staam met with Dooku who gave him an offer to leave the Jedi and become Dooku's student. Unaware that his old friend had fallen to the dark side, Staam was nonetheless wary of the offer and refused. As he departed from Serenno, the Count activated a bomb he had planted on Staam's starfighter without the Iktotchi's knowledge. The resulting explosion killed Staam as soon as it left the launch pad.
