The Right to Rule Fleet, previously known as Fleet Group Right to Rule, was the fleet of warships commanded by admiral Elgar Finn for almost two decades and briefly by his son, Jaro Finn, in 40 ABY. The fleet went through numerous formations and served a variety of overlords under Elgar's command, but by 17 ABY found its way back into the Imperial Navy. The Right to Rule was its flagship.
Composition[]
The fleet went through several compositions throughout its lifetime, only two ships have served constantly, being the Eager Action and the Solitude.
The fleet's largest formation was prior to the battle of Foron in 17 ABY, consisting of at least four Imperial II-class Star Destroyers, the Eager Action, the Imperious, the Smite and the Spite, the Praetor Mark II-class battlecruiser Basilisk, the Victory I-class Star Destroyer Solitude, the Victory II-class Star Destroyer Judgement, the Imperial II-class frigate Wolf's Tail, and the Vindicator-class heavy cruiser Odyssey. In addition, the Right to Rule and Foron's defence forces were also counted among the fleet in 12 ABY.
Following the battle of Ord Terath later that year, the fleet was reduced to the Right to Rule, the Eager Action, the Solitude, two Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers and a Carrack-class cruiser, the latter of which were destroyed during the battle of Columus in 40 ABY and left the Right to Rule badly damaged. The Right to Rule was anchored down in response, and the remains were reorganised into Fleet Group Hot Blood.
History[]
Early service[]
The fleet was established in 0 ABY under command of the newly-promoted admiral Elgar Finn, leading from the flagship Right to Rule. The Solitude, the Eager Action, the Odyssey and the Wolf's Tail were the first ships to be added to Fleet Group Right to Rule.
In 1 ABY, the Basilisk, a Praetor Mark II-class scheduled to be decommissioned, was instead added to Elgar's flotilla.
By 4 ABY, the fleet had been reinforced by three Imperial II-class Star Destroyers, as well as a Victory II-class Star Destroyer. During this time, the fleet was primarily stationed over Mandalore, but made its way to Foron following the battle of Endor, where it became the backbone of the Foronian Governance Navy.
Foron and Warlordism[]
The Right to Rule fleet became the premier defence force of Foron, reinforced by outdated warships serviced by the Foronian Governance Navy.
In 10 ABY, the fleet and the Governance Navy were put to the test, facing off against superior forces of Imperial warlord Blitzer Harrsk, who launched an attack from Abregado-rae. While the majority of the Governance Navy was destroyed, large portions of Harrsk's forces were devastated while the Right to Rule fleet was largely unscathed. Despite this, Elgar was forced to retreat against Harrsk's superior numbers, abandoning Foron.
Elgar's force reinforced his former colleague and ally Olyver Baines' forces in the Outer Rim, launching strikes into the Core Worlds. Elgar was eventually tasked with conquest of the Arkanis sector, briefly securing some of these worlds for Baines. However, a string of New Republic victories over Molavar and Hypori, supplemented by Elgar's desire to go home, resulted in his abandonment of his position.
The Right to Rule fleet made its way back to Foron and assaulted the meager New Republic defence force, easily defeating them and capturing the planet. The fleet remained over Foron for another five years, until in 17 ABY, the Imperial Skirmishes began and New Republic forces, led by admiral Ar'Lya beleaguered the planet.
Imperial service[]
A devastating blow, the following battle of Ord Terath also wiped out large portions of the Right to Rule fleet. Following the fleet's withdrawal from Ord Terath, the fleet numbered only six ships, two Star Destroyers, a Victory I-class Star Destroyer, two Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers and one Carrack-class light cruiser.
By 20 ABY, admiral Finn had retired and the fleet was mothballed. However, the Right to Rule returned to service when the Chimaera suffered extensive damage during the battle of Bastion, and Pellaeon singled out the ship to become his new flagship.
In 28 ABY, the fleet was temporarily reinforced with two Victory II-class Star Destroyers, the Imperial Solace and the Vehement.
