Republic Clone Trooper Ultra-Commandos (RUC Troopers) were an elite form of Republic Clone Trooper Commandos, an extremely highly trained class of Republic Clone Troopers. Republic Ultra-Commandos were very highly skilled and were one of the most advanced Clone Trooper classes/variants in the Grand Army of the Republic. On Kamino, the RUC Troopers were genetically and biologically engineered with special nutrients and chemicals injected into their growth pods to enhance them physically and mentally because they were required to be fast and strong and quick-thinking, superior to other Clone Troopers. RUC Troopers were usually issued a lightpike and various other weapons and equipment that were unique and extremely powerful. They were also trained personally by Jedi Knights in the art of Broken Gate, a type of melee/hand-to-hand fighting practiced by the Jedi Order. Jedi Knights also trained the RUC Troopers in using their saberspear. RUC Troopers were only deployed when the Galactic Republic was dealing with extremely high risk or delicate situations. They were also used for complex enemy base infiltration and battlefield emergencies. A standard RUC Trooper battle group included three RUC Troopers and was called a Strike Team. Each of the three RUC Troopers in a Strike Team had a specialty, but could still utilize any weapon or situation. One always specialized in melee and close-quarters fighting. Another always specialized in long-range combat. The third always specialized in heavy weapons. There was no leader in a Strike Team, all three RUC Troopers were trained to work together as one. In total, there were seven-hundred and eighty-three Republic Ultra-Commandos in the Grand Army of the Republic.
History[]
Conception/Creation[]
Republic Ultra-Commandos were first conceived and grown by the Kaminoans in 29 BBY as part of an experimental regime to create a physically and mentally superior Clone Trooper, a sort of 'super-soldier.' These 'super-soldiers' would be an extremely powerful, supreme, variant of the already elite Republic Commandos. Thus these 'super soldiers' were officially named Republic Ultra-Commandos, as an advanced, but rarer, class of Commando. Three RUC Troopers, later to be named the Alpha Team, were grown and the project turned out to be largely successful despite the previous doubts of Jango Fett. Another seven-hundred and eighty RUC Troopers were grown and trained alongside the first three immediately.
Secondary Outcome - Super Clone[]
Because of the experiment's success, the Kaminoans utilized their new bioenhancement technology and created another 'super-soldier' variant of Clone Trooper called the Republic Super Clone, massive, hulking, soldiers that were two-and-a-half times the size of a regular Clone Trooper. Super Clones were inferior to RUC Troopers in combat skill and intelligence, but much more superior to them physically and strength-wise. Super Clones also became far greater in number than RUC Troopers.
Clone Wars[]
First Mission/Battle[]
Republic Ultra-Commandos were first deployed onto the battlefield in late 22 BBY at the Battle of Roungk. The situation on the little moon had turned dire, Separatist forces were about to take hold of a major weapons factory and Republic outpost/communications center, most of the Republic military stationed on the moon had been wiped out by a mass attack of Separatist proton bombs. Elite forces or large reinforcements of some kind were urgently needed. It was then that the RUC Troopers were first deployed into real combat. There were thirty of them deployed, a whole Strength, and they were accompanied by a large Republic fleet. The mission was successful. The RUC Troopers quickly and stealthily infiltrated the outpost and took down the Super Tactical Droid that was commanding the whole Separatist army on Roungk.
List of Battles[]
After the Battle of Roungk, RUC Troopers were deployed in a lot more battles throughout the Clone Wars such as: Battle of Quell, Battle of Devaron, Battle of Malastare, Zillo Beast Incident, Battle of Kessel, Battle of Kamino, Senate Hostage Crisis, Battle of Mon Cala, Battle for Uquine, Battle for Anaxes, Battle of Coruscant, Siege of Mandalore, and many more.
Order 66/Jedi Purge[]
UC-154 (Smoky)[]
At the end of the Clone Wars, when Supreme Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious issued Order 66 to all the Clone Troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic, most complied, and that included the RUC Troopers. Every single RUC Trooper obeyed the order except one. This trooper's number was UC-154, referred to by his fellow RUC Troopers as 'Smoky.' Smoky's Inhibitor Chip wasn't properly formed and therefore it was faulty, allowing him to potentially disobey all of the Contingency Orders for the Grand Army. When Palpatine finally decided that the time was right to bring down the Republic, Smoky's Captain and the Captains of the other four Force received Order 66 from Palpatine and sent out a signal to their troopers commanding them to execute any Jedi that were near, and also (if they were with him) the leader of the RUC Corps Jedi General Uurlan-Ferl Ginnascin. Also, when Order 66 was given, a large part of the RUC Corps were spread throughout the galaxy on missions etc. Smoky and his Strike Team received Order 66 from their Captain while they were on a mission on Hrinar, a planet in the Outer Rim. (There were rarely more than a few Strike Teams deployed on a planet at once, RUC Troopers were only called into combat in the most deadliest or most complex of situations). The other two RUC Troopers in Smoky's Strike Team obeyed instantly but Smoky escaped and fled to Deddnar, an largely undiscovered and uninhabited (by intelligent sentient species) planet in the Mid-Rim. He lived there for the rest of his life as a hermit in the mountains.
Alpha Team[]
As was said, the first three RUC Troopers ever grown were later called the Alpha Team, and were not part of the RUC Corps. The Alpha Team were not superior to any other RUC Trooper in any way, although they were treated with great respect. They were nicknamed 'Alpha' 'Beta' and 'Gamma.' They were assigned as Jedi General Uurlan-Ferl Ginnascin's personal guard. Sadly, they were killed by a detonator when they were separated from Ginnascin on Kessel. They were played into a trap by General Greivous and were destroyed.
Equipment[]
Weaponry[]
RUC Troopers carried extremely powerful specialized weapons made only for them. Their main weapons were a lightpike, a Doom-blaster, and an Y-570 Arm-integration Blaster on each forearm. Every RUC Trooper apart from Sergeants and Captains are issued those weapons, but each of the specialized troopers in a Strike Team are issued weapons that complement their specialty. The long-range specialist received prominently long-range weapons, the heavy specialist received prominently heavy weapons, and the melee specialist received prominently melee weapons. RUC Sergeants and Captains received lighter weaponry than RUC Troopers.
Long-range Specialist[]
The long-range specialist in an RUC Strike Team carried an RS-01 or RS-02 High-powered Sniper Rifle as well as an Z-60 Long-range Repeating Blaster. They also carried a detonator pack and a bomb setting/diffusing kit.
Heavy Specialist[]
The heavy specialist in an RUC Strike Team carried an OE-009 Heavy Repeating Blaster, a G-C High-powered Blaster Rifle, a special custom RUC Vibroblade-blaster, and a grenade pack. The grenade pack contained thermal grenades, physical and anti-armor concussion grenades, and fire grenades.
Melee Specialist[]
The melee specialist in an RUC Strike Team carried two Teren J-class Blaster Pistols, two light vibroblades, two vibrodaggers, and a vibrofist gauntlet on each hand. The only explosives the melee specialist carried were frag grenades.
Captains and Sergeants[]
RUC Captains and Sergeants carried two L-30 Blaster Pistols and an explosives kit.
