This article is about the droid. You may be looking for the derriphan creature.

The Remote was the Zabrak Bao-Dur's droid companion. Built when he was still a child, it received numerous modifications and upgrades over the years, enabling it to assist its master with repairs and other tasks.

The droid accompanied Bao-Dur during his adventures with Meetra Surik aboard the Ebon Hawk, and after when the exiled Jedi became Dark Lord of the Sith. During this time it had a contentious relationship with G0-T0, another droid member of the crew. When the Hawk crash-landed on the Sith stronghold of Malachor V, Bao-Dur secretly dispatched the Remote to Singularity Base with instructions to activate the Mass Shadow Generator, which would destroy the planet. The Remote was intercepted and disabled by G0-T0, though it would eventually be repaired.

Bao-Dur's fate is unknown, but in 21,108 AR the Remote was in possession of Atton Rand, who had taken it upon himself to warn the Galactic Republic of the threat of the true Sith. During the Second Battle of Malachor V, Atton successfully inserted the Remote into Singularity Base, distracting the various Sith present so that the droid could finally activate the Mass Shadow Generator. Six years after its first failed attempt, Bao-Dur's gambit succeeded, and Malachor was destroyed, while Atton, the Remote, and their other companions escaped.

As the Outer Rim Incursion commenced, the Remote became a member of Republic SIS unit Salvage Team Four along with Atton, Kaevee, Atris, and fellow droid X-C88. Due to its compact size and minimal weaponry, it served support roles including repairs, computer interfacing, and reconnaissance.
