This civil war tore our planet apart since the assassination of the Federation's leader by the Covenant, an organization consisting of the non-Human species that reside here and are led by the Faunus. But the Federation also has its own problems, many believe that the Federation leader was assassinated by the Kingdom of Xozar, but we do not believe that nor does the Kingdom of Cantis. We've been assisting Xozar against Naven and Noborg in our civil war since.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward to Admiral Annabelle Nakamura on the Remnant Civil War
Remnant was a planet found within the Remnant system of the Arkanis sector located in the Outer Rim Territories. The planet itself was colonized by humans in 853 BBY and found that the Faunus species were the natives. Overtime, other species began to immigrate to the planet, these species included: Twi'leks, Bothans, Duros, Sullustans, Mon Calamari and Quarren. By the time of the Clone Wars, it was discovered by humans that there were a number of Chiss on the planet as well who joined the Covenant in 245 BBY. After the assassination of the Remnant Federation leader in 15 BBY, the Covenant were branded terrorists, but denied all credibility and involvement in his death.
History[]
World War[]
The World War was a conflict that erupted on Remnant decades prior to the Remnant Civil War where the Cemor Empire—predecessor of the Kingdom of Cantis—attempted to take over Remnant, fighting against the other kingdoms and empire already present. The Faunus were part of this war through the Covenant who only defended themselves against attacks.
Remnant Civil War[]
Geography[]
The number of continents on the planet's surface consisted of eight continents which included: Ablun, Ator, Bokan, Baxont, Dewran, Emith, Facon, and Unai. Ator and Bokan were the two largest continents on the planet and were controlled by the Kingdoms of Hontis, and Naven, respectively.
The Covenant, a non-human organization, controlled Baxont, and a single island near the continent Facon called the "Ancient Haven" which they defended with their Army and Navy, and was located in an ocean between Ator and Bokan.
Continents[]
Ablun[]
Ablun was the continent located near the north-western regions of Remnant, it consisted mostly of frozen ice plains and glaciers that gave wildlife scarce food resources and cold temperatures. It was the third largest continent behind Ator and Bokan, and the neighbor of Bokan, Emith, and Unai. Discoveries made by the Covenant on this continent in 163 BBY gave them belief that Remnant was once controlled by a much larger empire and that the Faunus weren't the primary species native to the planet.
It was also one of the continents covered in snow, the others being Unai, Dewran, and some northern parts of Bokan.
Ator[]
Ator was the first largest continent located in the southern hemisphere on Remnant, it consisted mainly of forests, mountains, and plains which wildlife had thrived for thousands of years with enough food resources and temperate climates. Being one of the largest continents, it was believed by the Kingdom of Hontis that Ator held many hidden secrets deep within its mountain ranges that remain unexplored due to the terrain.
During the golden age of the Kingdom of Hontis, many cities were built by builders and defended by valleys in between mountains. Hontis also mined from the mountains, claiming large amounts of metal, coal, even rare crystals known as Cestlite, an amber-ruby crystal acting as an energy source, powering Hontis' airships.
Bokan[]
Bokan was the second largest continent located in the northern hemisphere, bordered with Ablun, Emith, and Unai. Bokan's terrain consisted of plains, forests in its southern regions while its northern regions were covered in snowy forests and mountains. Wildlife in this region include large animals and predators that prey on local Faunus and human settlers.
The Kingdom of Naven had built large walls surrounding its capital city, Muxton, to better protect it against the many predators lurking around the continent. Much like Hontis' airships, Naven also uses these ships to travel far distances. With Armosis, an extremely rare and strong type of metal, mined in the snowy mountains of Bokan, the Kingdom of Naven traded these with Hontis in exchange for Cestlite.
Baxont[]
Baxont was a small continent in between Ator and Bokan, and the neighboring continent of Facon. Being the only small continent, Baxont was considered neutral territory by all five Kingdoms. According to the Baxian Treaty, this continent was to remain neutral and not be claimed by any Kingdom as an outcome of the World War, however the treaty didn't include the Covenant who operated on the continent. The reason for this was because the Covenant weren't an official "kingdom" but rather just an organization recently declared a terrorist organization after the assassination of the Remnant Federation's leader.
Baxont, discovered by the Covenant, had large amounts of material known as Ploitine, used on many of the Covenant's military vehicles, airships, and ships. Mined only by the Covenant, talks between them and Naven was going to allow the Faunus trade Ploitine for Armosis, however with the assassination of the Remnant Federation's leader, this never happened.
Dewran[]
Dewran was a snowy continent bordered with Unai and Emith. Its terrain mainly consisted of snowy plains, glaciers, and small valleys. There were packs of predators only known as Parasites that dominated this continent, even hunting human settlers as well as Faunus and other immigrated species. There were a total of 363 human settlements and farms within Dewran before the Parasites "took over" the region.
Before the Remnant Civil War, the Covenant managed to tame roughly nine packs of Parasites through unknown means. Since the Civil War's start, the Covenant only unleashed three Parasites against both Cantis and Noborg in response to their surprise attacks. The reason for this was because it was known that only a single Parasite was able to tear apart an entire town in mere hours.
However, Ley, the capital of the Kingdom of Xozar, were able to build defenses around the city, protecting it against the Parasites who waited directly outside their 40 feet high walls.
Emith[]
Emith was a desert-covered continent full of sandy plains, plateaus, and mountains. It neighbored with Dewran, Ablun, and Bokan. It was also the only region on Remnant that was periodically hit with massive sand storms sometimes covered dry plains and trees. Due to its rugged terrain and weather, it was hard for settlers to maintain stable farms and settlements. The only known predators to reside in this region were the Arachnids, deadly predators that sometimes rivaled Parasites.
The Kingdom of Naven controlled most of the region with its vast amount of Hontis-built airships and Noborg-built personnel carriers, protecting against Arachnid attacks. It was also where Naven mined metal used on its infantry armour.
Facon[]
Facon was a small continent surrounded by water, and was located in between the two oceans; Vuns and Vlia, as well as between Ator and Bokan. The region was mainly forests and plains, periodically hit with thunder storms and inhabited only by non-human species. "Ancient Haven" was located just south of the continent, protected by the Covenant's Army and Navy.
Since Facon was located right in between Ator and Bokan, both Hontis and Naven would often discuss on Facon as they both considered it, like Baxont, to be neutral territory. This continent was also protected by the Baxian Treaty as it served as one of the last large battlegrounds of the World War decades prior to the Civil War.
Unai[]
Unai was a snow-covered continent bordered with Ablun, Bokan, Dewran, and Emith. Its terrain was mostly frozen ice plains, snow plains, and snowy hills and small valleys. Snow storms usually happened every month on the sixth day, slowly filling up the small valleys and cave entrances.
The only known human settlements were Stonehaven, Bayfront, and Coldgulf. Since the start of the Remnant Civil War, there have been only three confirmed attacks of former human settlements by predators only known as "Snowmen," which were a lot taller than Arachnids. They were classified by the Kingdom of Naven as Class One Predators.
Oceans[]
Vuns[]
Vuns was an ocean located in the southern hemisphere of Remnant and was bordered with Vlia to the north, and Kenint to the south. Being the second largest ocean, Vuns was also the deepest ocean. It was also bordered with the two continents Ator and Bokan, with the former on its right and the latter to its left.
It was believed by the Kingdom of Cantis that Vuns held ancient structures on its seabed which led to the belief of an underwater city that was lost hundreds of before the arrival of humans and predating Faunus, it was nicknamed "Lost Atlas" by Cantis. The ocean also had large portions of Covenant, Hontis, and Naven naval fleets with territories and borders outlined between the three.
Vlia[]
Vlia was the third largest ocean located in the northern hemisphere of Remnant and was bordered with Vuns to the south, and Kenint to the north. Being the third largest ocean, Vlia, like its sister ocean Vuns, was also deep. However, unlike Vuns, its only notable point of interest was Muxton Bay where the home fleet of the Fleet of Naven was found.
Vlia was also full of Faunus pirates who didn't join the Covenant and mainly conducted piracy which was in clear violation of the Remnant Federation's anti-piracy laws. However, after the assassination of the Federation's leader, the Kingdoms of Naven and Noborg abolished its anti-piracy laws, which was disliked by Hontis, Cantis and Xozar.
Kenint[]
Kenint was the largest ocean on Remnant, bordered with Vlia to its north, and Vuns to its south. Originally called the Ken Expanse, the ocean was later renamed Kenint after the Remnant Federation's previous leader. Taking up 34% of Remnant's water, it was also the less protected, despite the fleets of all five Kingdoms. Kenint was also rumoured to have hidden islands and many other uncharted landscapes, leaving many to believe there were more land to be claimed.
Being the largest ocean, the Kingdoms of Hontis, Cantis, and Xozar increased its anti-piracy laws and regulations by introducing more anti-pirate fleets and airfleets. However, this did not stop pirates at all as most of the anti-piracy fleets were spread thin, and each of the three Kingdoms' fleets defending borders and territories from the Covenant, Naven, and Noborg.
Government[]
Remnant, prior to the World War, did not have a formal global government but rather the Kingdoms each controlled their own territories and borders. Each Kingdom traded with each other with resources, materials, food stock, and supplies until the First World War where all five fought against each other for domination. However after the war, the Baxian Treaty was created on a continent Baxont where all five Kingdoms gained peace and witnessed the formation of the Remnant Federation. This new era of peace went on for decades until the Remnant Civil War, many believing it to be the works of the Covenant.
However after the Remnant Civil War was resolved by Imperial Navy Admiral Annabelle Nakamura, the Remnant Empire was formed and all five Kingdoms and the Covenant respected and supported the Galactic Empire.
Kingdoms[]
Kingdom of Cantis[]
The Kingdom of Cantis is one of our allies, led by Kianna Redforge. Their previous leader was named Jane, a respectable and honourable woman who executed her older brother because of his leadership before and during the World War. She was the mother of Kianna Redforge, the Kingdom's current Queen. So basically, any business you want in Ablun, she's the one you'd have to talk with first, and I'll warn you, outlander, she don't like outsiders as much. Just talk with Noborg, and they'll tell you.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward giving Annabelle a brief history of the Kingdom of Cantis
The Kingdom of Cantis was the fourth largest kingdom government that held control over most of the continent Ablun, where it protected settlements, farms, and towns from predators. The Kingdom's monarch was Queen of Cantis Kianna Redforge, a descendant of the legendary Redforge bloodline.
Prior to the World War, the Kingdom of Cantis' official name was the Cemor Empire, led by a "rogue" Redforge son who was later executed after the War by his sister Jane, who also reorganized the government into the Kingdom of Cantis, naming it after its capital city Canta.
The armed forces of the Kingdom were officially known as the Armed Militia of Cantis, which itself was split into three different branches: Cantis Militia, Navy of Cantis, and Cantis Airfleet.
Kingdom of Hontis[]
Warren Ward, descendant of Wance Ward, great-grandson of Wardric Ward, grandson of Welsh Ward, son of Wilson Ward, and the King of Hontis, and ruler of Ator. For years since the passing of my parents, I've ruled the Kingdom of Hontis for twelve years. My family's supreme leadership abilities and responsibilities kept this continent alive and well for decades, perhaps centuries after our golden age. So if you have any questions, or just want business with anything involving Ator, then you'll mostly certainly have to speak with me, miss Nakamura.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward introducing himself, and giving Annabelle a history of his family and the Kingdom of Hontis
The Kingdom of Hontis was the largest overall kingdom government that held its control over the continent Ator as well as parts of the Vuns and Vlia oceans. The Kingdom's monarch was King of Hontis Warren Ward, a descendant of Wance Ward, a member of the Ward family.
Decades before the World War, the Ward Empire was led by a man named Zarkan Ward who was killed during the War for Ator, and replaced by Warren's great-grandfather Wardric Ward who secretly led the rebellion, and reorganized the Empire into the Kingdom of Hontis, succeeding the Ward Empire and abolishing its "Imperial" ways of life. The capital city was named Wance, after Ashton and Zarkan's father, and Warren's great-great-grandfather.
The armed forces of the Kingdom were known as the Armies of the Wardens, split into three branches: Warden Army, Warden Navy, and Warden Airfleet.
[]
The Kingdom of Naven, ruled by the Queen of Naven Glendale Crescent II, daughter of Glendale Crescent I. Glendale's a stubborn woman, she believes anything Elena says. Ever since her mother's passing, the Naven Militia seem to be more aggressive lately, been pushing against the Covenant and our borders. With that said, I cannot help you, outsider, if your business involves Naven or Bokan.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward giving a brief history of the Kingdom of Naven to Annabelle Nakamura
The Kingdom of Naven was the second largest kingdom government that held its control over the continent Bokan as well as parts of the Vlia and Vuns oceans. The Kingdom's monarch was Queen of Naven Glendale Crescent II, a former princess who took up the crown after her mother's passing prior to the Remnant Civil War.
Sometime before the World War, the kingdom was formally known as the Kingdom of Zuvia under the monarch her grandmother Liana Crescent, who was succeeded by her daughter, Glendale Crescent I, reorganizing the Kingdom into Naven after the War. After the reorganization, the forces of Naven had began to spread more out into Bokan, eventually building 30 feet high walls around its capital city, Muxton.
The armed forces of the Kingdom were known as the Naven Militia, split into three branches: Naven Army, Naven Fleet, and Naven Airfleet.
Kingdom of Noborg[]
My family's history with the Kingdom of Noborg go way back before the World War, hard to believe that my ancestor Wance allied with them but then I guess they didn't like their Queen at the time and wanted to assassinate her. From the history books, Noborg was used to be a larger Kingdom like Hontis and Naven but then overtime, they decreased in size. Elena Ambershot is a descendant of Kari Ambershot, so she's a fighter and a brilliant leader. If you want in on Unai then you'll have to speak with her, outsider.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward giving a history of his family and the Kingdom of Noborg to Annabelle Nakamura
The Kingdom of Noborg was the smallest kingdom government who held their control over the continent Unai, given by the Kingdom of Naven, and a small portion of the Kenint ocean. The Kingdom's monarch was Queen of Noborg Elena Ambershot, the granddaughter of Carlton Ambershot, a legendary warrior who fought during the World War against the Kingdom of Hontis.
The Kingdom was formed decades prior to the World War, it was formerly allied with the Ward Empire but with the plot of the Wardens to assassinating Elena's great-great-grandmother as Queen, this damaged their relations with each other, sparking the Noborg-Warden War, spanning over a decade before the Ward Empire's fall and reorganization into the Kingdom of Hontis, however the relations between the two did not recover.
The armed forces of the Kingdom were known as the Noborg Armies, which was split into three branches: Noborg Army, Noborg Warfleet, and Noborg Airfleet.
Kingdom of Xozar[]
The Kingdom of Xozar originally consisted of citizens from both the Kingdom of Zuvia, now known as Naven, and the Cemor Empire, replaced by the Cantis Kingdom, who all left after the World War. They settled in the Dewran region and were led by the Wisebrew family who eventually became their monarchs following their ascension into a kingdom. When the Parasites arrived and took over most of Dewran, the only way in and out of it is by air which we gladly provide airships for. Basically you don't need to speak with him if you got business in Dewran because...well the Parasites "own" the region.
—King of Hontis Warren Ward to Annabelle Nakamura about the Kingdom of Xozar
The Kingdom of Xozar was third largest kingdom government found within the Dewran continent. Despite the threat of the Parasites, the Kingdom was able to successfully build defenses surrounding its large capital city, Ley. Its monarch was King of Xozar Varin Wisebrew, a member of the Wisebrew bloodline.
Formed after the World War, the Kingdom of Xozar were formerly citizens of the Kingdom of Zuvia and Cemor Empire who left and created a village in Dewran, eventually becoming a Kingdom. When the Kingdom of Naven learned of their previous citizenship, they were branded traitors, however the Cemor Empire did not as they were already replaced by the Kingdom of Cantis. When the Parasites began to spread throughout Dewran, many of their farms, settlements and villages were attacked, and Ley became the only settlement in the region, protected by a large defense force.
The armed forces of the Kingdom didn't have a formal structure but had three distinctive branches: Xozar Knights, Xozar Sailors, and Xozar Airmen.
Covenant[]
We, miss Nakamura, are the Covenant, we do not share the same opinions and ideals as our neighboring Kingdoms. They branded us terrorists! Accused us of assassinating their leader, at which we did not have no intention of whatsoever. All we care about is to defend and preserve both our territories and the artifacts of the larger empire that pre-date my race. You may roam freely around our settlements without consequence, miss Nakamura.
—Alpha Chieftain Kenji to Annabelle Nakamura
The Covenant were a group of Faunus and other non-human species together in a united goal of protecting itself as well as preserving the world of Remnant as they discovered evidence of an older empire pre-dating the Faunus. They controlled Baxont, and "Ancient Haven" near Facon, and were also based all around Remnant, and despite not being an official kingdom, they did still held their own Army and Navy, its air forces were part of the Navy as the Covenant Air Fleet.
The title of the Covenant's leader was Alpha Chieftain, which was held by Kenji before and during the Remnant Civil War. The Alpha's protectors were known as the Alpha Knights with the leader of this group titled as Knight General.
Culture[]
Remnant's culture were divided into several groups, each kingdom had its own culture owning to the diversity of its inhabitants. With a unique identity and distinctive character for the five different Kingdoms.
The Kingdom of Hontis was the more futuristic-like kingdom with its advanced technology such as its airships fielding massive gun cannons and high explosive bombs. The Kingdom of Naven were the more modern-like kingdom with their basic forms of travel such as walking, and vehicles without any heavy weaponry. The Kingdom of Cantis were identified as being more royal-like and having technology such as better armour for its infantry and guardsmen, and weren't as advanced as Hontis. The Kingdom of Noborg were like Naven in a way except they had vehicles with weaker armour and airships with weak weaponry. The Kingdom of Xozar, despite being surrounded by Parasites, were the less-armed kingdom, being limited to only swords, and horses, however still had access to airship travel through the Kingdom of Hontis, they were considered the less-advanced kingdom out of the five.
Inter-Kingdom relations[]
Before the Remnant Civil War, the relations between all five Kingdoms were stable due to the Remnant Federation where all five leaders from each kingdom had a seat on the Remnant Council, led by the Federation's leader who hailed from the Kingdom of Hontis. Since the formation of the Remnant Federation at the end of the World War, the Federation became the sole government of the planet with each Kingdom witnessing its formation on the continent Baxont with the signing of the Baxian Treaty, which also served as the Federation's constitution.
However after the assassination of the leader by the Covenant in 15 BBY who denied all accusations and intentions, there were also other evidence suggesting that one of the five Kingdoms were involved in his death. The Kingdoms of Naven and Noborg both believed that Xozar were the ones who assassinated the leader with Hontis and Cantis both defending the kingdom, stating that they were just making wild accusations without any real evidence or proof they were involved. This splintered the Council, however the Federation did not dissolve itself despite this.
Species[]
Native[]
- Unknown extinct species
- Faunus
Immigrated[]
Predators[]
On Remnant, there were other native species all identified as predators by each of the five Kingdoms. Each predator species were categorized by the Kingdom of Naven and added to the Class system of the Remnant Federation. The lower the number of their class meant the more dangerous.
- Parasites - Class One
- "Snowmen" - Class One
- Arachnids - Class Three
Trivia[]
- The style of governments being kingdoms were inspired by RWBY and the medieval-like names were inspired by Wardie1993's Star Wars universe.
