The Relinquished was a specialized Terminus-class destroyer employed by the Sith Empire for hit-and-run attacks during the Third Galactic War. Captained by Elizabeth Kondarr, the Relinquished was one of many ships under the overall command of Darth Madré and saw use primarily as a raiding vessel.
In 28 ATC, one of Madré's disciples was placed in command of the vessel while it was deployed in the Expansion Region launching hit-and-run attacks on lower value Republic worlds.
Although the mission of the Relinquished was to stretch Republic resources by assaulting lightly defended – or entirely unguarded – strategic targets and taking whatever resources they could acquire in the process, the Sith commander was bloodthirsty and regularly commanded the crew to commit war crimes.
During one such incident one of the squadrons operating from the Relinquished refused to bombard a residential district in which over 100,000 civilians lived.
No longer able to abide by the Sith's command and unwilling to allow her crew to be executed for refusing bad orders, Captain Kondarr dispatched two of her best pilots – Seon Corbeck and Eleanor Corstle – to contact the Republic and request their aid in defecting, though ostensibly their journey was to scout out a safe route through the Zavian Abyss for the Relinquished to discreetly make its way back toward Dromund Kaas with its pilfered cargo.
Corbeck and Corstle managed to secure the assistance of Project Petrichor, a new Republic Strategic Information Service initiative, and returned with Jedi assistance to ambush the Relinquished while it was traveling through the Abyss.
The two Jedi – Zhavi Waverunner and Isla Ahnkett – boarded the Relinquished and dispatched the loyalists who did not support the defection, while those who did laid down their weapons and allowed the Jedi to pass to reach the bridge. When they arrived, they were confronted by the Sith commander, but Captain Kondarr shot him in the back before he could engage the Jedi intruders.
Following the attack, the Relinquished was turned over to the SIS and became the mobile command center for Project Petrichor – which transitioned into the Strategic Asset Reassignment Bureau – and its leader, Frank Pad, with Captain Kondarr being allowed to maintain her position as the vessel's captain.
As part of its reassignment, the large cargo of chromium stolen during the ship's raids against Republic holdings was repurposed to improve the hull of both the destroyer and its starfighter complement, with the excess being used in the armour of the Relinquished's security personnel and starfighter pilots, most notably the elite defenders of Chromium Squadron.
Captain Kondarr remained in charge of the vessel itself and became well-respected among her distant peers in the Republic navy, serving the Republic with the same professionalism and dedication as she had the Empire.
During the Waverunner Exodus of 45 ATC, Kondarr and her crew were among the defectors who left the Republic to follow Zhavi Waverunner when she established the independent colony of Shimka's Well, taking the Relinquished with them. The vessel later became the headquarters of the Advanced Strategic Operations Service.
