The galaxy does not stay the same. It changes from day to day, and we must change and grow to meet new challenges. As Jedi, we must never allow ourselves to become stagnant or self-satisfied. We must be ever vigilant, aware of what is happening around us, and ready to adapt to changing circumstances.
—Luke Skywalker
The Reformed Jedi Order, also known as simply the Jedi Order, the Third Jedi Order, or Forge's Jedi Order, was the restored and reformed Jedi organization that was formed by ex-Imperial Knight, Forge Anders in the wake of the destruction of the New Jedi Order during the Third Jedi Purge executed by Darth Krayt. It was founded on Tython in 138 ABY at the same time the Galactic Union was being formed on Coruscant after the destruction of Krayt's Empire. The reformed Order was quick to act on the remaining members of Krayt's One Sith, starting an event called the "Great Sith Purge" (named after the Great Jedi Purge that destroyed the Jedi of the Old Republic), which was the conflict that took place directly leading up to the Second Force War.
The reformed Order grew much faster than it's predecessor, due in part to the anti-Sith feelings in the galaxy at the time, coupled with new methods of discovering Force-sensitives. Withing four years of the Order's reestablishment, it's members numbered in the thousands. After agreeing to stay out of the government, the Order was accepted as a part of the Galactic Union and was able to reclaim their temple on Coruscant. The reformed Order scrapped the ways of Luke Skywalker's Order, believing them to be flies compared to the Jedi of old. Thus, they collected every scrap of knowledge they possessed on the old Jedi and began to develop programs and traditions based on this information.
History[]
Reformation[]
One day, democracy will return to the galaxy. The Sith oppression that has been present since the days of Palpatine will be crushed, and the Jedi will once more defend the government that breaks this oppression.
—The Force Ghost of Raian Keldabe to Mark Keldabe
The reformed Order was established by ex-Imperial Knight, Forge Anders, in 138 ABY on Tython a week before the Coruscant Convention took place on Coruscant. There he met with several Jedi survivors of Krayt's purge and laid out the foundation for the new Order. The Jedi there decided that, if reclaimed, the Temple on Coruscant would no longer serve as the Jedi's main headquarters. Instead, they decided on building a Jedi Complex, made up of many temples, on Tython and using the temple on Coruscant as the location for a Jedi Academy. Four weeks later, the Jedi were accepted into the Galactic Union under the Second Galactic Constitution and were able to reclaim the temple on Coruscant. After this, recruitment became key to the Jedi in order for their organization to grow.
Great Sith Purge (139 ABY—140 ABY)[]
We must destroy the Sith completely and utterly. Leave no remnant of their Order. Even their temples and artifacts must be destroyed. We must weaken the dark side before it has a chance to recover. The Sith Order must never return.
—Grand Master Forge Anders

The Great Sith Purge begins.
The Sith were caught off guard by the new plan of the Jedi. When the Jedi, aided by Union troops, arrived on Korriban a year after their Order's reformation, they stormed the Sith Academy and the buildings Darth Krayt had used to house his Sith and slaughtered the Sith. Across the galaxy, similar operations were being carried out by legions of troops led by what few Jedi the Order had. By 140 ABY, more than half of Darth Krayt's One Sith were gone. The Jedi wiped out all data, holocrons, temples, academies, bases, etc, that they found in order to prevent future generations of Sith from learning from them and rising again. They even razed the Sith tombs on Korriban via orbital bombardment. The remaining Sith began to go into hiding, hoping to restore their Order from the shadows once more, but the Jedi were determined to hunt down every last one of them. Finally, several Sith Lords left over from Krayt's reign gathered what was left of Krayt's Empire and army and launched a final assault to protect their Order from destruction.
Second Force War (140 ABY—145 ABY)[]
Political organization[]
Although the Jedi were forbidden under the Galactic Union's Constitution to participate in it's government, in 139 ABY, during the beginning of the Great Sith Purge, it re-established the Jedi High Council to act as a governing body for the new organization. Unlike the council of old, the new council consisted of ten, not twelve, members; five were lifetime members and five served on the Council for varying amounts of time before retiring and giving their position to another Jedi Master. The Jedi were given free reign under the new government, as long as they followed the Constitution. For the most part, they acted as law enforcement for the Union, however, sometimes the Jedi acted on their own agenda, such as when they executed the purge on the Sith. The Union will sometimes support the Jedi agenda and lend them troops, which is what provoked the remaining Sith to eventually go to war with the Union and it's Jedi.
Jedi Code[]
Members of the Jedi Order, from Jedi Masters to Padawans, were encouraged to follow a set of guidelines, including self-discipline, responsibility, and public service. These principles were put simply yet effectively in the Jedi Code:
Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
- Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
- Jedi respect all life, in any form.
- Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
- Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.
—The Jedi Code
Though there were other codes by which the Jedi followed, this one in particular held true to the values of the reformed Order and eventually, the Jedi stopped using their previous codes in favor of this one altogether.
Jedi ranks[]
- Much of the information in this section comes from Wookieepedia.
The reformed Order held the exact same ranks as the Old Jedi Order did, as well as some of the ranks introduced by Skywalker's New Jedi Order. The highest rank of the Jedi Order was that of Grand Master; a role fulfilled by the re-founder of the Order, Forge Anders. Very few Jedi were invited to serve on the Jedi Council, the governing body of the Order. The Council was made up almost exclusively of wise, experienced Masters, which, at first, were only the founders of the Order themselves and later moved on to the new generation they had trained. The Council was made up of ten masters, five of them with lifelong terms, five of them with limited-terms.
A Jedi Knight who showed great understanding of the Force and managed to instruct a Padawan and train them successfully to the level of a Jedi Knight would be deemed a Jedi Master. This title could also be achieved through the performance of extraordinary deeds. A disciplined Padawan could become a fully-trained Jedi once they completed "the trials"; thus becoming the more common rank of Jedi Knight. The known trials were, but weren't limited to: the Trial of Flesh, the Trial of Courage, the Trial of Skill and the Trial of Self (also known as "facing the mirror"). A young Jedi who was apprenticed to a single Jedi Knight or Master was called a Padawan. Padawans were chosen by their masters at a young age, and wore a long braid of hair (if their species was capable of growing cranial hair) behind their right ear (if they had ears) to signify their rank. A Force-sensitive child who was removed from their family at a very young age to be taught by older Jedi in groups called clans was called a Jedi Initiate or a "Youngling".
