The Recapture of Jakol was the first battle of Operation Armbreaker, a major offensive undertaken by the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Inner Rim planet Jakol was conquered a year earlier by Confederate Marshal General Yosip Zagoonga during the Battle of Jakol. It was subsequently occupied by a combination of Separatist battle droids, armed CIS supporters, and Sergon Security Services mercenaries. However, after the major Republic victory at the Battle of Foless, the Republic sought to retake Separatist-controlled systems as part of Operation Armbreaker.
The battle began with a Republic Battle Group attacking Confederate warships defending Jakol, managing to quickly destroy all the vessels before they even were able to flee. A sizable invasion force of several clone legions supported by non-clone personnel then landed on the surface, targeting major cities and military bases. Within a few days, all Separatist resistance was neutralized, ending the Recapture of Jakol in a decisive Republic victory.
