Rear Admiral was a lower level flag officer rank in the Imperial Space Armada of the Sith Empire throughout the years of the Great Galactic War. An Imperial Rear Admiral typically commanded a part of a full Admiral's fleet or served as the head of a department in the Ministry of War. Some were also appointed to command planet-side bases and facilities. In the starfighter or marine forces a Rear Admiral was one of the highest ranks and served as the head of a department.
