The Ratitans were a frog-like humanoid race native to the Inner Rim planet of Ratit. They bore a strong resemblance to the Rybets.

Biology and appearance[]

The Ratitans were humanoid frogs with green skin and black eyes. They had five fingered hands and three-toed feet.

Society and culture[]

Ratitans could work for any affiliation and occupation, and could speak in a language which consists of frog-like croaks. They could speak Basic. They also shared their name with the Ratitan whisperfly, a type of non-sentient insect from their homeworld. They were one of the 5 million sentient species (alien races) known to the Empire in the galaxy.

History[]

The Ratitans were the sentient descendants of a non-sentient amphibian species. They evolved on Ratit, a swamp planet located in the Ratit system within the Bestine sector in the Inner Rim. Their homeworld was explored sometime between 20,000 BBY and 15,000 BBY, during the Great Manifest Period and settlment of Trailing Sectors. It fell into the area of space known as the Trailing Sectors. They shared their home sector with the Aldereenians, the Bacians, the Chaaktils, the Credaanians, the Heptalians, the Koorivar, the Sarkanians, the Shahkirins, and the Xeronians. It became a part of Separatist Space during the Clone Wars. In 25 ABY, their homeworld's population was up to 10 million. Their homeworld became a part of the Darth Krayt's Sith Empire in 137 ABY.
