Rise of the Empire era

The Rakkasan Group, also known as the Rakkasans, and often stylized as Rakka's Sons, or Children of Rakka in memoriam, was a private military organization founded by the Wookiee warrior Rakka and human Kellan Jayfon Tau (I). The Rakkasans would be contracted by the Galactic Republic during the Stark Hyperspace War and by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.

History[]

Before 87 BBY and inspired by the tale of the Wookiee warrior Rakka and his children's defense of his village from Trandoshan invaders, the young Corellian-born human Kellan Jayfon Tau (I) convinced Rakka and their friend Zuka, to endeavor on developing a "defense for the people" that law enforcement couldn’t effectively render in the Coruscanti underworld.

Together, the trio handled small jobs such as protection details until they attracted enough members and financial backing to become a recognized and legitimate organization rather than just another gang. By 87 BBY with one hundred and eighty-seven members and a single star ship dubbed the Currahee, Rakka's Sons were born.

Sometime later Zuka departed the organization after a falling out while Rakka fell ill, and stepped down as leader. With Rakka's absence, leadership fell to Tau who simplified the group's name to "Rakkasans" to appropriate to what the media mistakenly called them and establish a brand. By 44 BBY, the group would go on to be contracted and participate in the Stark Hyperspace War under the employ of the Galactic Republic.

By 22 BBY, the Rakkasans were under the employ of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and led by Cerra Tau and an elected command council.
