The Ragnos family, or Clan Ragnos, was a predominantly-Sith familial group descended from the ancient Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos. Aside from their most accomplished son Marka, the clan was generally well-respected and influential in the ancient Sith Empire. Like their ancestor, the modern members of the family were known for being very strong with the Force, though many were also known for wanderlust.
Ancient days[]
During the Golden Age of the Sith, the Ragnos family grew very rich and powerful. Many were of the priestly caste, which put them in a position of influence over lesser Sith and as advisors to the Sith Council. Gradually, the elders of the family over several generations manipulated the rise of younger members until a decent number of them were Sith Lords.
After over a century of political maneuvering, the family elders finally engineered the tutelage under a well-known and widely feared Sith Lord of their brightest young descendant, Marka. Marka grew to be a very powerful Force master in his own right, and used his family's influence and prestige to aid his own rise to power. In 5,100 BBY, he defeated a fellow Sith Lord named Simus and claimed the title Dark Lord of the Sith for himself.
Marka's reign over the Sith Empire lasted a century, and was characterized by an increase in the power of ruling families, but a pattern of non-expansion for the Empire as a whole. The vast majority of Sith feared, respected, and loved their leader, and were content with his plans for the Empire, but a few Sith Lords desired to push the boundaries of the Empire into the territory of the Republic. Ragnos would hear none of this, though, and was of sufficient power that the matter remained settled until his natural death in 5,000 BBY.
During the subsequent reign of Naga Sadow, the Ragnos family's power greatly declined, given their opposition to Sadow undoing everything Marka Ragnos had accomplished. They threw their support to Ludo Kressh, but following his demise the family elders were left without a rock to cling to. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the matter was quickly resolved by the Republic, who defeated Sadow and liquidated the Sith species.
New era[]
Like many Sith, members of the Ragnos family attempted to flee Ziost rather than die fighting the Jedi. Unlike many Sith, they managed to escape successfully, and went into hiding for the next 4,900 years. The surviving Sith fled from planet to planet, ultimately ending up on Korriban around 150 BBY.
In 132 BBY, a descendant of the Ragnos family named Heliak and his wife gave birth to a girl, whom they named Valadyn. They were discontent with her Force powers, however, and abandoned her offworld in 122 BBY. Their next effort at reproduction, however, would be greatly successful, producing the future Dark Lord Khrado Ragnos.
Four short years later, Jedi forces discovered the Sith enclave and bombed it from space. Khrado escaped under the guidance of his ancestor Marka's spirit, making his way to the Valley of the Dark Lords. He believed his entire family dead, but his mother had escaped to the Core by stowing away on a Jedi ship.
Wander, destitute, from planet to planet, Lady Ragnos was finally discovered by the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. Realizing what she was, the Muun Sith Lord gave her to his young apprentice, Darth Sidious, to do with as he wished. Sidious attempted to produce a powerful offspring from her, whom he could train into his own apprentice, but was frustrated with the result, a girl who was named Razielle. Despairing of the chances of her life improving, Lady Ragnos committed suicide. Razielle was raised for a brief period by Plagueis and Sidious, but eventually escaped.
In 41 BBY, the three long-lost siblings were brought together by fate or the machinations of the Force. Realizing their connection, Khrado took both of his sisters under his protection and did his best to keep them safe. However, all three were prone to wandering, and though they kept up communication when possible, they went their separate ways.
Subsequent generations[]
Not long after discovering his sister, Khrado Ragnos conceived a child with a human female Dark Jedi. A daughter was born, who was named Adrienne and became his father's favorite thing in the galaxy. Training his child in the ways of the Force and the lightsaber, the Dark Lord was distraught when Adrienne announced that she too wanted to journey the stars. Some time during her travels, the Sith woman had a daughter of her own, whom she named Andromeda. The Ragnos line continued (though without the name) through Andromeda's descendants.
Valadyn Ragnos also had a son, named Bryant, some time during the Imperial era. She later created Hayden Ragnos-Sakaros in a lab by combining her genetic material with that of her blood brother Tak Sakaros. Hayden's death during the Massacre at Ossus in 130 ABY extinguished the pureblood Ragnos line, leaving only part-Sith descendants.
Relationship to the Sakaros clan[]
The Ragnos family became closely linked to another Sith-descended clan, the Sakaros family. Tak Sakaros, the family head from 75 BBY on, became the blood-brother of Khrado Ragnos in 64 BBY, an act that made each man's family like the other's. After Sithmaster's death, Tak took to protecting both Valadyn and Razielle, whom he considered his own sisters, as well as his niece Adrienne and her daughter.
Tak's three sons all held an affinity for their aunts and cousins. Following the Battle of Dorian IV, Tariun Sakaros stepped up to the plate to protect his "extended family" like his father. The favor would be returned decades later, when Razielle would occasionally safeguard Tak's youngest daughter, Rin.
