R2-D2.
Artoo Detoo or R2-D2 for short was an Astromech Droid during the invasion of Naboo in 19 BBY. He and many other astromechs were aboard the Naboo Royal Starship when the ship carrying the queen fled the planet. When the ship tried to pass the blockade, the shield generator had benn damaged. All the droids were sent to repair the shields, but almost all of them were destroyed. However, R2-D2 was the last one alive and managed to fix the shields. The hyperdrive had been severly damaged and the ship eventually crash landed on Utapau. Before crash landing, the droid had been cleaned up as a service of grattitude by the queen. R2-D2 managed to survive the crash landing and helped repair the ship. He met the Protocol Droid C-3PO and the two started a wonderful friendship.
