I am not part of the dark—simply deeper in the shadows.
—Quinlan Vos

Quinlan Vos was a male Kiffar Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order as a general in the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. Hailing from the planet Kiffu in the Inner Rim, Vos wore long, dreadlocked hair and a band of pale yellow across his upper face. Vos was gifted with psychometric powers which allowed him to "read memories" from inanimate objects through physical contact. A prolific Shadow, Vos established a complex spy network branching deep within the inner workings of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' government. Planting himself within Darth Tyranus' Shadow Collective, Vos' struggle with the dark side of the Force was put to the test as he was forced to confront his own darkness during his double life.

Following his redemption he was readmitted into the Jedi Order, Vos served on numerous missions including the hunt for the Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure. Throughout the war, Vos was openly disdainful of the clone troopers under his command, which lead to him being disliked by clones and hated by Sergeant Kal Skirata. Vos was on Kashyyyk as part of the battle there when Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, in reality the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, was cut down by Master of the Order Mace Windu on Coruscant. Recalled to the Coruscant Jedi Temple, Vos was appointed to the reformed Jedi High Council because of his own struggles with the dark side. Revealing to the High Council his lover, Khaleen Hentz, Vos agreed to turn over their son, Korto to train as a Jedi in exchange for granting Hentz amnesty on Ossus. Serving the Order faithfully for over a decade, Vos was struck down in combat by fellow Jedi Jerec during a mission to Korriban. As his final act, Vos slew Jerec as he recognized the once famed Jedi Master had been seduced to the dark side by the spirits of Korriban. He was cremated on the pyre on Ossus and remembered as a strong Jedi Master.

Biography[]

Early life (65– 32 BBY)[]

Quinlan Vos was the son of Quian and Pethros Vos, members of Clan Vos, the rulers of Vos's homeworld. Vos was born with psychometric powers, and thus destined to become a Guardian like his parents. One out of every hundred Kiffar had psychometric ability to some degree, but Vos's latent ability with the Force enhanced his own, and he was considered by many to be an exemplar of the ability that had ever been seen. Initially Vos' people were unwilling to give him up to the Jedi Order, as that would require him to relocate to Coruscant and cutting him off from his homeworld. As a compromise the prolific Jedi Watchman Avlis Tholme agreed to train Vos initially on Kiffu. Training the boy from a small compound on Kiffu, Tholme was forced to take Vos offworld when both of the boy's parents were murdered by Anzat and Vos' aunt, Tinté Vos, forced him to use his abilities to read the memories implanted in his deceased mother's medallion. Vos screamed for days on end, and only Tholme was able to calm the boy. Knowing that he would never be safe on his homeworld now that his aunt was ruler, Tholme took the boy to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant where he entered into regular Jedi training. Sorted into a clan at the Temple, Vos trained alongside children his own age including the young Human girl Aerklin Shylar and the Purpilian Tomac Moorcé.

Apprenticeship[]

While Vos showed great prowess at the academy, he left the academy early to train with Master Tholme in 55 BBY. Training largely on the Outer Rim, Tholme encouraged the young Vos to enhance his psychometric skills, taking him to prison worlds to handle evidence or travelling to ancient tomb worlds to handle artifacts and determine their histories. Early on the pair traveled to the Order's crystal caves where Vos constructed a green-bladed lightsaber in the Temple on Ilum. During a trip to Ryloth with Master Tholme, Vos saved the infant Aayla Secura from a Hutt crime lord and later identified her as Force-sensitive and returned her to Coruscant for training. Vos continued to grow under Tholme's tutelage, enjoying the lifestyle of the Jedi Shadow and working in their company when at the Temple or on missions. Vos and his master were brought into the Silent Wars in the aftermath of the Stark conflict, joining Padawan Tomac Moorcé and his master, Indot Sheni on the planet Gulma where they hunkered down as the planet was bombarded by attacks by the Dark Masters and the Machine Empire. Living off rations for a year, Vos and Tholme were clearly overwhelmed by the Machine Empire's forces on Gulma when the light side energy released upon the death of the ancient Jedi Master Zordon's death washed over the battlefield and reduced the Empire's forces to dust. Returning to Coruscant, Vos and the other Shadow's involved in the fighting were sworn to secrecy, discussing the conflict with no one.

To refresh himself after the fighting Vos accompanied Obi-Wan Kenobi and his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, on a camping trip to Ragoon VI for a meditative retreat. While trying to show off to each other with different acrobatic and telekinetic stunts, Vos accidentally tumbled into the water from which he was saved by Jinn. During his time between missions, Vos pursued a romantic relationship with fellow Padawan Aerklin Shylar but they eventually ended it, knowing the Jedi Code forbade such attachments. On the eve of his knighting ceremony in 40 BBY, Vos went into deep meditation high within the Coruscant Temple's summit meditation chamber before descending at dawn to have his Padawan braid ceremoniously severed from his scalp by the lightsaber of Grand Master Yoda.

Training Aayla[]

Only a year into his life as a Jedi Knight, Vos selected Aayla Secura from the academy due to the bond they had formed during her rescue years prior. While Vos promised to pass down some of his skills as a Shadow to Secura, he sensed that she would make a strong Guardian and was determined to develop her full potential. Traveling to the exotic planet Felucia, Vos endeavored for Secura to develop tracking skills as well as the ability to conceal her presence in the Force, blinding even the environment to her presence. Perfecting that technique while on the world, Secura was allowed to develop a bond with a local Felucian mammal which she named T'dai. Finding joy in the simple creature's companionship, Secura was heartbroken when she found him deceased. Sensing her emotion distress, Vos used the opportunity to reinforce the idea that the Force is eternal and the living pass through the shroud of mortality upon their death where they exist as part of the Force eternally.

Padawan Secura and her Master undertook many successful missions together over the course of her apprenticeship. They rescued a young princess from the Skyboat pirates of Xoman Free, faced the terbeasts of Ogden Minor and solved the Mystery of the Lodi on Solibus IV. In 32 BBY, Vos and Secura were on Tatooine on an undercover mission at the same time Master Qui-Gon Jinn found himself temporarily stranded there. Secura later informed the Jedi High Council that she and Vos heard about Jinn's death just before they left. She reported that Vos regretted not revealing himself or contacting him, that if he had been aware of Jinn's plight, he would have undoubtedly aided him in reaching Coruscant. Leaving Tatooine, the pair were assigned a mission to Ryloth to investigate the sources of glitteryll, a dangerous new narcotic appearing on the black market. During their assignment, the two were captured and drugged causing heavy amnesia in both Jedi. While Secura was taken by her uncle, Pol Secura, who had to feed her more glitteryll every day because her spirit kept reasserting itself, Vos was transported to Nar Shaddaa in secret.

Amnesia (31 BBY)[]

Vilmarh Grahrk[]

Upon awaking from a deep sleep, Vos suddenly found himself inside of a burning building on Nar Shaddaa with no memory of who or where he was nor what he had been doing. He was able to escape to the roof, encountering a small group of bounty hunters upon doing so. Acting instinctively, he used his telekinetic skills to shove them off the rooftop and sending them to their deaths. Diving into one of Nar Shaddaa's many dark alleys, Vos encountered Vilmarh Grahrk, a Devaronian smuggler. Using a commandeered speeder bike, the two managed to find a place to hide, avoiding assassins at every turn. Villie, as he liked to be called, explained to Vos that the local criminals had made bets based on how long Vos would survive on Nar Shaddaa, knowing of his Jedi origins and his amnesia. Once they were safe, Villie put his blaster to Vos's head and pulled the trigger, but it turned out that Vos had switched the weapon's power cell while using it against enemies on Villie's speeder.

Vos kicked Grahrk to the ground and, after grabbing the blaster and switching its power cell once again, demanded Grahrk tell him everything he knew, or he would kill him. Before he could do so, two beings carrying lightsabers walked into the room, claiming to be Jedi. Grahrk told him that they were in fact "bad boys," and with that the two attacked. Vos instantly killed one with Villie's blaster, then grabbed his downed opponent's green lightsaber. As it touched his hand, visions suddenly flowed through his mind, including that of his Padawan, Aayla Secura, and his own name. With a great deal of his power returned to him, he quickly killed the other lightsaber-wielding foe, a Gotal . Villie revealed that, while Vos was killing the fake Jedi, he had made a new bet: that he would get off Nar Shaddaa alive. After being convinced to go with Grahrk, Vos grabbed the other lightsaber which he could sense belonged to Secura. With that, the two began their trek off the Smuggler's Moon.

Leaving Nar Shaddaa[]

On the way to the Smuggler's Moon Vos encountered more intense visions; of Tatooine, Bib Fortuna, Tinté Vos, and glitteryll, primarily. After learning Grahrk knew of Bib Fortuna and his possible whereabouts, Vos quickly convinced him to help find the Twi'lek and, knowing they could never leave the moon until doing so, Grahrk agreed. Vos and Grahrk located the Twi'lek, and the Jedi asked Fortuna aggressively what glitteryll was. Fortuna only revealed that "someone in a high position on Coruscant" was behind it all before a group of guards burst into the room. Vos and Grahrk quickly dispatched the guards, though Fortuna was able to escape during the melee. After the emergence of a droideka the two escaped through a window, stealing Bib Fortuna's parked speeder, and immediately made their way to Grahrk's ship, the Inferno. Upon arriving at the ship's docking bay, Vos discovered Grahrk had failed to mention he lost the ship in his recent betting on Vos's possible demise, so the ship now had security droids surrounding it, conveniently forcing Vos to help Grahrk regain his ship.

Upon entering the ship, Vos and Grahrk were not allowed to take off due to the InfernoTemplate:'s onboard navigation droid, NT 600, correctly claiming that Grahrk was no longer the owner. With annoyed bounty hunters and gamblers fast approaching, Vos quickly told the droid that activating the ship's shields would "protect the new owner's investment." Agreeing with this logic, NT activated the shields, though they began deteriorating instantly due to an ion cannon-wielding bounty hunter firing upon it. A Quarren named Gorzima suddenly came on-screen, accusing Villie of stealing back the Inferno. Grahrk promised that he would simply fly the Inferno off-planet, collecting his soon-to-be winnings due to Vos escaping Nar Shaddaa, and allowing himself to buy the Inferno back. Gorzima disagreed, but Vos was able to persuade him, allowing the two to fly away from Nar Shaddaa.

Grahrk transferred his new-found credits to Gorzima once out of the atmosphere. With Vos not being sure where to go next to fill out his memory a bit more, Grahrk reasoned that the best place would be where he was born. So, NT 600 scanned the Jedi and discovered that he was a Kiffar from the planet Kiffu. After granting him transport to his homeworld, Grahrk stayed behind on the Inferno, allowing Vos to seek out his past, and perhaps learn a little more about himself. On his home planet, Vos met with his aunt, Tinté Vos, the Sheyf of Kiffu and Kiffex. Though she shunned the Jedi, as well as Quinlan Vos's Padawan Aayla Secura, she told him that a few weeks ago he and Secura had come to Kiffu to learn of a drug called glitteryll. She said that it was a combination of glitterstim and ryll, that the Corporate Sector Authority was interested in it, and that he and Secura had investigated the matter on Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine. She also echoed Bib Fortuna's statement on Nar Shaddaa that someone high up on Coruscant was behind it all before instructing him to go to Ryloth to seek information and his Padawan.

Seeking Aayla Secura[]

Once on Ryloth Vos and Grahrk were met by Vos' cousin Asanté Vos whom, due to his amnesia Vos did not recognize. Escorting Vos to the Twi'lek chieftain {{Sw|Pol Secura]], Vos explained his situation and learned from the man that the last time he had visited Ryloth, Vos and his Padawan had traveled to Kessel as it was the place of origin for glitterstim, one half of gliteryll's components. Weary from his ordeal on Nar Shaddaa, Vos stayed the night at Secura's residence only to be awoken by an incoming holomessage from Grahrk who told him to meet him by within the Rock Gardens. Upon arrival Vos was confronted by another Devaronian, Holmar Grahrk, Villie's cousin. Before the two could interact, Holmar was murdered by his cousin who informed the Jedi that he had no intention of being killed on Ryloth by competitive relatives. Searching the Garden for clues as to his last visit to the world, his psychometric abilities helped him discover that he and his Padawan had searched a nearby cave system. Delving deep into the caves, Vos and Grahrk found a mass web of giant spider eggs; the kind found normally on Kessel and used to make glitterstim. They were soon attacked by a group of hatched spiders during which time Asanté Vos walked in wielding a blaster, and shot Vos in the back. She explained that he and Secura had gotten too deep into the glitteryll situation, and that she and Pol Secura had overdosed them with glitteryll to wipe their memories, in the process protecting them from higher-ups behind the scenes. As she prepared to kill Vos, pulling her blaster up to his head, she was stabbed from behind by the mother spider. With a recovered Villie's help, Vos was able to kill the spider and, with his new information, decided to visit Pol Secura once more.

Vos and Grahrk barged into Pol Secura's quarters overlooking the caves of Ryloth, aggressively demanding to know where Jedi Secura was. Fearfully revealing that she was now one of his servants,Secura summoned his Jedi niece to enter the room. Determining that the Twi'lek girl was still amnesic Vos handed her his lightsaber and encouraged her to ignite it hoping it would stir her memories. Disappointed when she did not seem to recall anything of her past life, Pol Secura explained that she had to be given more glitteryll every day to suppress her Jedi memories. Enraged at Chieftain Secura's mistreatment of his own blood, Vos interrogated the politician with Force lightning while demanding to know who was behind selling the drugs to the Corporate Sector. After suffering much pain, Pol Secura implicated Senator Chom Frey Kaa in the plot. As Vos prepared to kill him, Aayla Secura instinctively used the Force to telekinetically push them both off the ledge, leaving Vos hanging on the edge and sending Pol Secura plummeting to a stone platform below, killing him. As Jedi Secura rushed to her uncle, Grahrk pulled Vos up, explaining to him that going after Aayla Secura would be useless, because to her he was nothing more than the man who made her kill her uncle. Vos reluctantly agreed, and the two made their way back to the Inferno, flying out of the atmosphere.

Confronting Chom Frey Kaa[]

Soon after leaving Ryloth's atmosphere, Vos and Grahrk were contacted via hologram by Jedi Master Mace Windu, who said that he had learned of Vos' memory loss from Tinté Vos, as well as his assassination of Pol Secura on Ryloth, and that he was to come back to Coruscant for retraining immediately. Vos cut off the transmission and, against Grahrk's cautioning, decided to go to Coruscant to find Chom Frey Kaa. Landing in the underbelly of Galactic City, Vos was at a loss as to how they would locate Kaa. Stunning the Jedi with his blaster, Grahrk handcuffed Vos and delivered the unconscious Jedi to Senator Kaa. Coming to, Vos found himself in the Twi'lek Senator's presence; the corpulent bureaucrat revealed that Grahrk had been complicit in the entire drug manufacturing and smuggling plot from the beginning and had been accompanying Vos as part of the plan to ensure that the operation went off without a hitch. Despite Kaa's confidence in the Devaronian, Grahrk betrayed his benefactor and armed Vos with his lightsaber, allowing him to unshackle himself and destroy the Twi'lek's [battle droid guards.

As Vos prepared to kill the Senator, he was interrupted by Master Mace Windu, who told Vos that to kill him would be to succumb to the dark side of the Force. Vos was disobedient, not willing to let Kaa survive, and engaged the High Councilor in a brief lightsaber duel. Master Windu, with his pacifism, was able to make Vos see the error in his actions and Vos pledged to submit himself to the Council of Judgment so long as the Order would retrieve his Padawan from Ryloth. Unbeknownst to those involved, the entire debacle had been engineered by Darth Sidious, who aimed to bring Vos to the dark side as a new apprentice. However, even though Vos returned to the light side, Sidious recognized how close he had come, and that in the future he would be even more at risk of falling.

Mission to Dathomir (30 BBY)[]

Slave of the Witches[]

Three months into his retraining, Quinlan Vos was sent to the planet Dathomir to investigate the local Witches following reports that they had something to do with the mysterious vanishing of the planet Ova. With only four days to work, Vos flew into the planet's orbit and, activating the ejector seat in his starship once he had entered the atmosphere, crashed down into Dathomir's towering forests. He was soon confronted and taken as a slave by the female-dominated Dathomiri. Tasked with excavating one of the Dathomiri's ancient temples, Vos quickly came to be promoted to Lizard Keeper, a menial job of tending to the Kwi, a blue saurian species native to Dathomir. Upon arriving in the Kwi stable, a fellow slave explained to Vos that the Dathomiri were cutting off the Kwi's paws, and using them to activate the machines in the temples they were excavating. Before the other slaves could continue with the depawing of the Kwi, Vos used his lightsaber to free the beasts before staging a slave riot As he planned his escape, Vos made contact with one of the remaining Kwi and used his psychometric skills to uncover the truth of the species. A regressed form of the ancient and powerful Kwa, the civilization noted for constructing interstellar gateways called Infinity Gates within Star Temples, the Kwi stilled longed to protect their ancestors' great works.

Realizing that he was being watched by a Witch, Vos chased after her, only to be lured into a large pit filled with hog-like creatures. Quickly freeing himself, Vos caught up with the Witch who was called Ros Lai, the daughter of the powerful Mother Zalem. Hiding out of sight, Vos discovered that Lai was communing with the spirit of her father, who was revealed to have been murdered by his wife. As Lai plotted her revenge on her mother, Vos revealed himself and offered his assistance in stopping Mother Zalem and her plot to uncover the Star Temple. Because Lai wished to gain access to the Temple for her own ends, she telekinetically choked Vos before being attacked by her sister witches who branded her a traitor for her plot to kill Mother Zalem. Dispersing the attacking witches, Vos and Lai descended into the chasm containing the Star Chamber where they engaged in a battle with several of Mother Zalem's Coven. Ultimately too late to prevent the Mother Witch from activating the Infinity Gate and using it as a weapon against Coruscant, Lai murdered her mother before fleeing back to the surface. Using telekinesis, Vos activated the Star Chamber's defensive systems to free himself so that he could reverse the effects of the Gate and save Coruscant. The reversal caused the destruction of the Gate permanently, and the death of Zalem and her Coven ensured that the knowledge of the dangerous weapons of the Kwa would remain a secret.

Mission to Kiffex (30 BBY)[]

… in becoming a Knight, a Jedi is expected to face his greatest fears and vanquish them.
—Tholme

Approximately one year later, in 30 BBY, the High Council, at the request of Tinté Vos, sent Vos to Kiffex to investigate a break-in and slaughter at one of the planet's security compounds, as well as a disturbance in the Force reported by Jedi Watchman of the Kiffu sector T'ra Saa.

Upon arriving at the Kiffex security compound in question, Vos was attacked by a group of feral Anzati. Fending them off narrowly, Vos was soon joined by his former master, Tholme, who had been sent by the High Council to watch over Vos, and together the two were able to send the Anzati running. Though Vos did not remember Tholme due to his recent amnesia, he recognized him from the files in the Temple Archives. Tholme and Vos both sensed someone hiding in a nearby storage compartment, and upon opening it, discovered Vilmarh Grahrk. The Devaronian explained that he came to Kiffex tosmuggle blasters, but was arrested by the local Guardians and imprisoned on Kiffex for his actions. Grahrk, believing that Vos and Tholme would get him off Kiffex, led the Jedi to a nearby settlement, where they were fired upon by order of Gorto Zaga, chief of the settlement. The Jedi and Grahrk were able to survive the blasterfire however, and with a cautionary application of concilium from Tholme, were soon inside the settlement and Vilmarh Grahrk's hiding place.

When Tholme and Vos had a moment alone, Tholme showed Vos a medallion that once belonged to his mother, Quian Vos. Upon touching the medallion, Vos was ravaged by memories of his parents, Quian and Pethros, intercepting an Anzati ship attempting to come to Kiffex, only to get boarded and attacked by the Anzati in doing so. The Anzati sucked the essence from Quian and Pethros, draining them of their lives. Tholme recounted Vos's youth to him, and said that witnessing the death of his parents as a child caused the darkness within him and that his amnesia necessitated the need to face his mother's death once again to quell the darkness within him. Inside, Vos knew that Tinté Vos had shown his parents' murder to him to turn him to the dark side, thus making him useless as a Jedi in hopes of bringing him back to Kiffu as a Guardian.

While at the Black Hole cantina in the town of Deadend, Vos, Tholme, and Villie watched as a Jedi Master named Zao concealed himself as personal chef of Gorto Zaga, the Aqualish chief of Deadend. Following Zaga disapproving a meal prepared by Zao, Zaga's men opened fire on him, forcing himself, Vos and Tholme into battle. Seemingly from nowhere, an army of Anzati led by Aayla Secura, who had recently been turned to the dark side by Volfe Karkko, attacked Black Hole, forcing the Jedi and Gorto's men into a defensive position. Vos, consumed by feelings of fear and rage brought on by his parents' death, was attacked by his former Padawan, as the Anzati began wrapping the Black Hole patrons in green webbing. Secura fled to the roof of the establishment and Vos, against Tholme's advisement otherwise, gave chase. When the two met on the roof, Secura said she would kill Vos for killing her uncle Pol Secura, before fleeing on a bathwa and leading several Anzati back into the forests. Tholme soon caught up with Vos, who accused Tholme and the High Council of lying about not knowing where Aayla Secura was and that they sent him to Kiffex to find her. As Tholme defended himself and the Council and denied Vos' claims, Grahrk arrived with three of Gorto Zaga's skycycles allowing Grahrk, Vos, Zao and Tholme to escape the compound and continue the hunt for Secura.

Following a brief attack by Anzati, the group of Jedi rendezvoused with Jedi T'ra Saa, who told Vos that she was sent to bring him back to Coruscant and to warn the others of the reawakening of the fallen Jedi Volfe Karkko. The fallen Anzati Jedi had turned to the dark side millennia prior and was eventually put in stasis on Kiffex by the High Council, only for Aayla Secura to awaken him in the present. Together Saa, Tholme and Zao were able to detect Karkko's whereabouts on Kiffex with the Force, and they and Vos set out to find him, with Grahrk prompting to stay with Saa's crashed ship. When the four Jedi arrived at Volfe's compound, the Anzat called out to Vos through the Force and compelled Vos to enter. As the other three Jedi battled Karkko's Anzati defenses outside, Vos entered Karkko's fortress and discovered countless conscious bodies wrapped in green webbing. Vos neglected to rescue them despite their pleas for assistance, instead going straight for Secura. As Vos arrived in the inner sanctum of Volfe Karkko, he was attacked by his Padawan, much to the delight of Karkko. Vos and Secura dueled with their lightsabers while Vos' calls to Secura to come back to the light fell on deaf ears. Eventually, Vos switched off his lightsaber, refusing to battle Secura further. Just as Secura seemed to be convinced of Vos's sincerity, she was struck by a blast of Force lightning from Karrko, rendering her unconscious.

Vos and Karkko then proceeded to duel each other, and in the end, with mental assistance from Zao, Tholme and Saa, Vos defeated the fallen Jedi by slicing through his abdomen and cutting him in two. Vos then revived Secura and restored her memories, which had ultimately been stored in her lekku. Vos carried the weakened Secura out of Karkko's fortress and the five Jedi, after rescuing all of those held captive inside, boarded Grahrk's ship, the Inferno—which he had contacted using T'ra Saa's ship—and escaped Kiffex. The five Jedi and Villie then landed on Kiffu and were joined by Mace Windu, Adi Gallia, and Plo Koon, who had originally come to the system to rescue Vos from Kiffex. Together, they decided that, with Vos and Secura's collective closeness to the dark side of the Force, Tholme would become Secura's new Master. Vos, meanwhile, decided to follow Zao's lead and become a "leaf blown by the winds of the Force." With that, he and Villie boarded the Inferno and set out to parts unknown.

From Knight to Master (30 BBY)[]

Wayward Jedi[]

As a consequence of his activities on Nar Shaddaa, Ryloth, Dathomir and Kiffex, Vos earned himself several bounties on his head. While on Ord Mantell a group of bounty hunters ambushed him and, if not for the arrival of his former apprentice, nearly overwhelmed him. Once the bounty hunters were taken care of, Secura revealed that Master Tholme had gone missing after embarking on a mission to bring the Morgukai warriors Tsyr and Bok to justice. The Nikto father-son pair was suspected of abducting Nat Secura, the heir to Clan Secura and Padawan Secura's uncle and his return was need to ensure stability within the governing council of Ryloth. Beginning their search by seeking out Vilmarh Grahrk in Ord Mantell's casino district, Vos asked for Grahrk's help in hunting down the Nikto. Grahrk informed Vos and Secura that he had been in the employ of the Morgukai, obtaining cortosis and flying transports for them. He went on to say that had been the pilot of a ship carrying Tsyr, Bok, Tholme and Nat Secura, but had been dropped off at Ord Mantell and paid off. After Vos used his skill in the Force to give the Devaronian a winning edge in the casino, Grahrk finally admitted that Tholme and Nat Secura had been taken to the Nikto homeworld of Kintan to be imprisoned indefinitely. After asking Villie to send a message to Lon Secura, telling him his son had been located, Vos and Secura departed for Kintan. En route to the planet, Vos sensed uneasiness in Secura—uneasiness about him. Secura responded that he was not acting like the Vos in her lekku memories. Vos realized this, but for him, his life began in the burning room on Nar Shaddaa; thanks to Pol Secura, he knew little of his life before that, but assured Secura that he was at peace with his situation.

Mission to Kintan[]

Two Morgukai against one wounded Jedi? Seems unfair. Would it help if I closed my eyes?
—Quinlan Vos to Tsyr and Bok

Upon arrival on Kintan, the Jedi inadvertently set off a sensor, alerting Tsyr and Bok to their presence. The Morgukai tracked the Jedi vessel and blasted it out of the sky, despite Secura's impressive flying. Realizing their prey were not dead, the Morgukai set out on foot to hunt them down, but were ambushed. The Jedi managed to escape for a time, using the explosion of a thermal detonator as cover, but were again ambushed by the Morgukai as they attempted to cross a lava river. A fierce battle ensued, in which Secura attempted to fend off the two Morgukai, while Vos—already safely on the opposite side of the river—used the Force to steady Secura's footing. Even after being wounded by Tsyr, Vos was still able to aid Secura in reaching him. Leaving the Morgukai behind, Vos and Secura made a difficult climb up to the fortress where Nat Secura was being held. A sandstorm impeded their progress, forcing them to seek shelter within a cave. Inside, Vos informed Secura that she had passed all the preliminary trials to become a Jedi Knight, and the coming battle would be her final test. He encouraged her to steady herself, and release her feelings of self-doubt if she wished to succeed.

Once within the fortress, the Jedi were again confronted by Tsyr, who set attack droids upon them. Vos told his apprentice to seek out Nat Secura, while he engaged Tsyr. Jedi Secura feared for Vos's life, as he had already been wounded in the previous battle, but Vos was resolute. However, his situation became increasingly desperate with the arrival of Bok, thought lost at the lava river. Vos was able to hold his own in the battle, recovering Master Tholme's lightsaber and beheading Tsyr. Bok, however, was still alive, and shot Vos through the shoulder. By this time, Secura had located and rescued both Tholme and Nat, and raced to Vos's aid. She sliced off Bok's arm, and watched his apparent demise as he threw himself from a cliff. Vos, however, was on the verge of death. Secura helped heal Vos and return him to consciousness, at which point he thanked her, calling Secura his "former apprentice". She had passed her final trial. Vos, Secura and Tholme returned Nat Secura to Ryloth, then departed for Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. There, Secura was formally given the title of Jedi Knight, while Vos, for his selfless actions on Kintan, was made a Jedi Master in the presence of the High Council and Tholme. After the ceremony, Vos promised Secura she would never have to walk the path of a Jedi Knight alone, for he would always be at her side.

Separatist Crisis (24–22 BBY)[]

As the Confederacy of Independent Systems formed under the leadership of former Jedi Master Dooku, Master Tholme called upon Vos to assist in establishing a vast spy network to counter the growing threat of the Separatists. Infiltrating the office of Techno Union Representative to the Galactic Senate Wat Tambor, Vos posed as a technician aboard the Foreman's personal aide's transport and began his two-year long mission of planting moles within the Techno Union and the Senate. Casting a wide net, Vos' informants systematically funneled information indirectly back to the Coruscant Temple to be analyzed by Tholme's other Shadow agents. One of Vos' informants, a prostitute named Khaleen Hentz, became romantically involved with the Kiffar Jedi in the months leading up to the outbreak of war. Having met while waylaid on the Techno Union factory world Tar Morden, the pair traveled together often and arranged to meet each other to exchange information and find pleasure in each other's company. While Vos used his late night rendezvous with Hentz as a pleasant distraction to help him remain stable during his life undercover, Hentz was in actuality a spy for Dooku who was tasked with infiltrating the Jedi's spy network and cutting them off and feeding them misinformation.

In 22 BBY Vos made his way to the Wheel, a massive space station famous for its vast casinos and a sea of information flowing from across the galaxy. Holed up within the station's underbelly, Vos was not at the Jedi Temple when Master Mace Windu led a strike team of Jedi to rescue Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, his Padawan Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo on Geonosis. Upset that he had not been able to intercept any information on the attack there before it occurred, Vos went dark in an attempt to root out his leak. When the comm silence was noticed, Tholme dispatched Aayla Secura to investigate since she would know him the best as his former Padawan. Upon locating her former master, Vos informed her that he was very close to intercepting a certain disc that had valuable information concerning a pending attack on Kamino. They, along with Hentz, managed to steal the information, although they put the prostitute's life at risk to retrieve it. Secura also learned then that Vos was beginning to get emotionally involved with Khaleen. She did not make any move to report this to the Jedi, but she did warn him not to get too attached.

Clone Wars (22–19 BBY)[]

Double agent[]

He will be our agent on their side."

True, all this is. But dangerous this game is that Quinlan Vos plays—most of all for him. For that which you pretend to be, you may become.

—Tholme and Grand Master Yoda.
Quinlankillstinte

Vos murders his great-aunt, Tinté Vos.

Following his ordeal on the Wheel, Vos began to move in on his greatest task: following up on Dooku's comments to Jedi Kenobi on Geonosis regarding the Sith. While it was clear that Dooku was a Sith, the High Council was convinced that he was but the apprentice and his master, supposedly named Darth Sidious, was the Sith Master of the Zabrak responsible for killing Master Jinn on Naboo a decade before. As one of the few Jedi to know of any Sith involvement, Vos was tasked with finding any information on the Sith that he could and therefore plotted his infiltration of Dooku's inner circle. It quickly became clear that the so-called Shadow Collective was a dark side organization formed of Dooku's Force adepts and dark side acolytes. While only senior members of the High Council and Tholme were aware of his activities, his other colleagues in the Order suspected that he had actually fallen into darkness when Vos appeared to have joined the Collective early in the war. While providing valuable information to the Order when he could, Vos focused most of his time in gaining Dooku's trust such as when he betrayed the Republic by selling information during the battle for Brentaal IV. Following the assault there, Jedi Master Agen Kolar was sent to Nar Shaddaa to bring Vos into custody on the orders of the High Council. Vos escaped Kolar, ensuring that his cover was not blown, but he was unable to protect Hentz from capture. Deep in a Coruscant prison, Tholme offered Hentz her freedom in exchange for her cooperation in contacting Vos, as the Kiffar had been largely comm-silent as he sank deeper into his work with the Shadow Collective.

Unbeknownst to Vos, Count Dooku continued to believe the Jedi Master was simply feigning loyalty in an attempt to infiltrate the Shadow Collective. Playing on Vos' weaknesses, Dooku continued to draw him "closer to the shadows," as Vos himself described it, than he had ever been before. Forcing Vos to watch the torture and eventual death of his former lover and fellow Jedi Aerklin Shylar, was but the first of many trials presented to Vos. When Dooku took his acolytes to Kiffu to negotiate establishing a Separatist base on Kiffex, the Guardians refused. When the two sides attacked, Vos tried to rescue his great-aunt, the Sheyf Tinté Vos, and killed fellow acolyte Kadrian Sey in the process. Seeing Vos's true intentions, Dooku went after and caught the Kiffar Jedi at which point he hinted that the Sheyf was hiding a dark secret from her nephew. Encouraging Vos to feed on the dark side and look into the past using his psychometric skills, Vos succumbed to the Sith Lord's influence and, through the Force, discovered that Sheyf Tinté had sacrificed his parents to Anzati as part of an unholy business deal. Vos went into a blood rage and with a surge of dark side power, Vos struck down his aunt with his lightsaber, cementing his position within the Collective.

Dooku's servant[]

Master Drallig teaches this form, and I think Master Windu invented a variation on it, too. He calls it Vaapaad, just like Bane's Sith instructor did. Could Master Windu be a–? Nah. Still, I'll look into it.
—Vos, while reading a section on Darth Bane's The Rule of Two.

Following his homicidal service on Kiffu Dooku, known to his dark side adepts as Darth Tyranus, gave Vos the ancient crystal found inside Darth Andeddu's Holocron of Heresies. The synthetic red crystal had once powered the legendary Sith Lord's blade and now it would power Vos' own. Vos' quick ascension to Tyranus' elite earned him a rivalry with other Acolytes such as Tol Skorr and Savage Opress who believed that their longer service went unrecognized. Others, such as Asajj Ventress and Sora Bulq, were secure in their place at the top and agreed to work alongside Vos, though neither excepted him as their equal. To encourage Vos, Tyranus assigned him to monitor a powerful individual at a high-class banquet on Coruscant. Implying that the mark was in fact the second Sith whom, unbeknownst to Vos, the Count knew Vos was obsessed with discovering; Tyranus was pleased when Vos and Hentz infiltrated the banquet disguised as a recently killed Kiffari general. Vos was told via holocomm when the mark was in front of him, but Vos saw both Supreme Chancellor Palpatine as well as Senator Viento. Vos decided that Viento was the most likely to be the target, as it was unthinkable that Palpatine could be the second Sith, so he waited until later that night and broke into Viento's quarters to attempt the assassination, using his powers of self-concealment to hide his presence from the Jedi assigned to guard Viento, K'Kruhk. However, K'Kruhk had been keeping a watchful eye on Vos at the party and, even though he couldn't sense Vos at first, was aware of the fact that Viento may be in danger. Just as Vos ignited his lightsaber to kill Viento, K'Kruhk burst through the window and lunged for Vos. He was too late, however; Vos had already slashed Viento across the chest. After a brawl with the Whiphid Jedi, in which both combatants were wounded, Vos escaped with Hentz's help.

Realizing that Viento could have could not have been the second Sith as Vos would not have so easily been able to eliminate a Sith Lord, the angered and confused Jedi sought answers from Lord Tyranus. Confronting the Confederate Head of State over the assassination plot, Tyranus seemed amused and stated that he never said that the mark was the second Sith, seemingly taking pleasure in his own hidden awareness of Vos' obsession with rooting out the second Sith. To keep Vos in his thrall, Tyranus assigned the Kiffar to hunt down the Twilek Kh'aris Fenn, a traitor to the Confederacy of Independent Systems condemned for using the funds Dooku had supplied as a means to aid the Separatists for the Twilek's own needs. Fenn was executed by Vos for his treachery, with each murder further immersing himself in the dark side. By this time, most Jedi, with the exception of Master Tholme and perhaps Secura to some extent, were convinced that the Kiffar had surrendered to the dark side. But Vos' control was not completely destroyed despite Tyranus' grasp. While on the planet Honoghr, Aayla Secura and clone trooper commander Bly were trying to find an Scientific Information Packet (SIP) disk containing evidence of the Separatists contaminating the planet. Vos rendezvoused with them and told Secura he had not really turned to the dark side. He helped them recover the disk, but then threatened to kill Secura if she did not give it up. He revealed his true intentions in joining the Separatists: to find out the identity of the Second Sith and kill him to end the war. Secura forced Vos to see the light by saying he could kill her or return to Coruscant with her, if there was any good left in him. Vos almost agreed, but fled after Bly shot him. This convinced Secura that Quinlan Vos was not totally lost.

Old friends[]
Hey, Kenobi! Hey, Commander, looking good. How's Temple life?
—Quinlan Vos to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cody.

Months later, Vos met Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on the derelict spaceship Titavian IV where they found themselves on opposite sides of war. When Kenobi was beset by both Asajj Ventress and Tol Skorr, Vos managed to convince Kenobi that he still served the Republic by helping the Jedi Master escape. Trying to flee the ship, Kenobi proposed that one of them retrieve the Skorp-Ion with his starfighter so they could both get to safety. Vos volunteered to hold off the Dark Jedi, but Kenobi knew he was injured so Vos took the fighter. He managed to repair the Ion and then destroyed Kenobi's starfighter to prevent Skorr from getting his hands on it. He then disabled Skorr's ship and the two Jedi Masters jumped to the Rendili system. Upon boarding Master Saesee Tiin's flagship, the High Councilor had Vos imprisoned to await trial on Coruscant. During the ensuing battle power to the prison hold was lost so Vos escaped to take a starfighter to assist the Republic. He helped Kenobi board the lead Rendili ship to rescue Master Plo Koon and several Republic personnel, earning Tiin's trust.

Returning to Coruscant as a prisoner, Vos stood before the Council of Judgment and plead his case. Revealing that he had in fact been on assignment by the High Council and Master Tholme, Vos was able to convince the Masters that he had not fallen completely under the sway of the dark side and had remained true to his Jedi foundation. Reinstating him within the Order's rosters and allowing him time to recuperate at the Temple, Vos was given the rank of General within the Grand Army of the Republic and assigned to the battlefield. Reunited with Kenobi, one of Vos' first assignments was to hunt down the Hutt Ziro, the uncle of a powerful Hutt crime lord and a fugitive of the Republic. Tracking the paper trail back to the Hutt Grand Council on Nal Hutta, Vos and Kenobi confronted the Grand Council and accused the Hutts' of arranging for the break in. Contending that Ziro had damning evidence against the Grand Council, Vos suggested that the Council wished to prevent Ziro from talking to the Republic. In their presence, Vos used his psychometric skills on a goblet to determine that Ziro had recently been drinking from it within the Council chambers.

With that in mind, the two Jedi departed and eventually tracked Ziro to the planet Teth where they hoped to detain him and extract whatever information Ziro was concealing. Discovering Ziro shot dead by an assassin, Vos and Kenobi were confronted by the infamous bounty hunter Cad Bane who was able to stall them long enough for him to escape. What the Jedi failed to determine was that Ziro had evidence that the Hutt Council had recently been contacted by Shadow Collective member Savage Opress who hoped to forge an alliance between himself and the Hutts.

The calm before the storm[]

Despite his seeming departure from the Shadow Collective, Vos actually maintained his contacts within the Confederacy's Force-using arm in order to continue his pursuit of the Second Sith. Locating Viento's corpse in the Senate crypts, Vos was able to read the body and find clues which drew his attention to the Anzati assassin Saljé Tasha. Seeking information from Jedi-ally Dexter Jettster, the Besalisk put out the word that he wanted Tasha's services. When Tasha showed up, Vos relieved her of her cortosis gauntlets and used his psychometric skills to determine that Sora Bulq had hired her as an assassin on Coruscant. Believing that this indicted Bulq as the Second Sith, Vos sought out Master Oppo Rancisis at the Jedi Temple. Rancisis informed Vos that his former master, Tholme, was investigating on Saleucami and discovered an Anzati trained Morgukai clone army being created beneath the planet's surface. Rancisis agrees to allow Vos to join his three battalions as his second-in-command, hoping that Vos' familiarity with the Anzati and the Morgukai will assist in the siege of the world.

Siege of Saleucami[]

Once on the surface of Saleucami Vos joined his former Padawan, Aayla Secura, in the ground battle. Hoping to prevent the Morgukai clones from leaving the planet, Vos and Secura were joined by fellow Jedi Sian Jeisel, A'Sharad Hett, K'Kruhk, Ausar Auset, Xiaan Amersu, Elsezar T'Bolton, Kle Durnar and Kri Xeltek in a massive task force dedicated to stopping the Shadow Collective. During a brief interlude in the fighting, Vos spent an evening with his lover, Khaleen Hentz, and asked her to arrange a meeting with Sora Bulq on his behalf. Recording in his private holocron his plan to kill the Second Sith no matter what the cost, Vos rejoined the fighting to begin his final step to completing his mission.

Engaging in a duel with fellow Shadow Collective member Tol Skorr as part of a diversion, Vos convinced the other Jedi around him that he disappeared on the battlefield while he actually slipped through the Confederacy's compound to conduct his meeting with Bulq. Welcomed into the compound while Bulq finished his communique with Darth Tyranus, Vos overheard the Sith's order to execute Tholme. Prepared to carry out the order to ensure the trust of the Sith, he hunted Tholme down and located him over a lava ridge in the subterranean compound. Begging Tholme to join him in his plan to kill the Second Sith, Tholme knew that the Weequay was only another Acolyte and not the true Sith Lord. Tholme refused Vos' offer to unite and engaged in a duel with his former student who dispatched him, sending him falling into the lava flow. Unable to grieve for Tholme so as not to blow his cover, Vos returned to the surface and the Jedi base to find Master Rancisis slain. Though the other Jedi suspected Bulq was behind the assassination, Master Sian Jeisel felt incorrectly that Vos had done it. Because of Rancisis' death, Vos was placed in overall command of the Republic forces on the battle. To ensure that the siege would be a success, Vos "read" Rancisis' corpse to determine his plans, as he hadn't shared them with anyone.

Dance with the dark side[]

No more games, Darth. No more pretending. I know who I am. I've made my choice. My name is Quinlan Vos and I am a Jedi.
—Quinlan Vos to Darth Tyranus on Saleucami.

Infiltrating the Confederate base, Vos sent Secura off to set charges on the thermo generators while he sought out the Shadow Collective leadership on the planet. Confronting Skorr, Bok, Bulq and Darth Tyranus (via hologram) in the main operations planning center, Vos claimed to have read Rancisis' corpse to learn his plans so that he might share them with the Collective. Revealing that Secura was sent to the shield generators as a show of trust, Bulq dispatched Bok to kill the Twi'lek and exact his long-desired revenge against the Jedi woman. While Vos' ruse seemed to have been sold, Darth Tyranus caught him off guard by revealing Khaleen Hentz' true identity as a double agent for the Collective. Tyranus detail how Hentz was ordered to gain his sympathy and confidence, including making him think she loved him so that she might learn who his moles were and leak false information to him. Hentz confessed that she had indeed been hired by the Sith but that her feelings were genuine and she was loyal to Vos in the end. Confronted with giving into his hatred and killing the woman and slipping fully into the dark side, Vos listened as she pleaded with him to look in her heart and know the truth. He cupped her face in his hands, looked in her eyes and passionately kissed her. He then sliced her chains with his lightsaber, proclaiming he was a Jedi. As he was surrounded by Dark Jedi and Anzati, help came from an unexpected source—Tholme, who withdrew from the Force and waited to see if Vos chose the right path. To further Vos' success, Secura was safely in a different location than Vos had indicated, communing with her master through the Force to help him stay rooted in the light.

Standing to fight alongside his former master, Vos engaged his longtime rival Tol Skorr while Tholme battled against the legendary Sora Bulq. As Hentz defended the Jedi from the Anzati with her blaster, Vos was able to focus his efforts against Skorr who taunted Vos by claiming there is no second Sith. In anger at the claim, Vos telekinetically pushed Skorr off the command platform, sending him to his death in the lava below. Assisting Tholme in the fight against Bulq, Vos' aggressive nature threatened to engulf him as the hologram of Tyranus encouraged him to strike down the Weequay duelist.

Form seven is very aggressive, Quin. It can take the user very close to the dark side—and you, frankly, sometimes walk too close there as it is.
—Mace Windu

Forcing Vos to employ the Vaapad-style of fighting to drive him closer to the brink, the Kiffar simultaneously engaged in an inner battle with himself as light and darkness waged war within him. After slaying Bok, Secura had come to the command center to join Tholme in attempting to keep Vos within the light of the Force. Sora Bulq believed he had perfected the power of Vaapad through the direct application of the dark side. Quinlan Vos, in order to combat Bulq's furious technique, gave himself over completely to Vaapad and in turn accepted and embraced the full fury of his opponent and transformed his anger into a superconducting loop. As Bulq's hatred merged with his own inner darkness, passing in and out and through him, he then channeled all of that energy back towards Bulq.

Vaapad is more than a fighting style. It is a state of mind, a path that leads through the penumbra of the dark side.
—Mace Windu)

Mastering the flow of light and dark in that moment, Vos found a meditative calmness as Bulq raised his saber to deliver his final blow. Moving within the Force, Vos spun around and struck Bulq down across his torso, bringing an end to the master-duelist. Darth Tyranus, who saw the entire duel, deemed Vos lost and cut the connection, silently struck by the massive loss his plans had suffered by losing Skorr, Bulq and the entire army of Morgukai. As Vos and the surviving Jedi fled the Confederate base moments before the Republic fleet bombarded the compound from space, decimating the cloning facilities and killing off the Morgukai threat. As the Jedi Generals departed the planet to report to new assignments, Vos agreed to lead a battalion on the graveyard world Boz Pity, also having earned back Master Jeisel's respect. During the final moments on the planet, Vos learned that Hentz was pregnant with his child and would seek out a quiet place to lay low until the war was ended. Pledging his intent to leave the Jedi Order at the end of the Clone Wars, whereupon he would find his love, Vos departed to Boz Pity fully embracing the light.

Last days of the war[]

While General Vos took his troops to Boz Pity for a refit, he quickly left for Kashyyyk to reinforce the besieged Wookiees following the Battle of Coruscant. In transit he heard that Anakin Skywalker had killed Darth Tyranus, and that the Shadow Collective was suspected of collapsing. Relieved at Tyranus' death, Vos hoped that the Second Sith would reveal himself now that only one Sith remained alive and their acolytes were scattered or dead. While on Kashyyyk Vos joined Master Luminara Unduli and Wookiee Elder Gumbaeki in freeing a number of Wookiees from Trandoshan enslavement. Near the end of the conflict, Vos' group was cornered by crab droids and considering retreat when the Inferno blasted in and saved them. Vos introduced the Wookiees to their savior, Vilmarh Grahrk, along with his new co-pilot, the Wookiee Chak. Because of his previous travels with Grahrk, Vos was given full access to the Inferno, which he used to access Grahrk's recent navigational charts. He discovered that Grahrk had been using the Claatuvac Guild hyperspace routes mentioned by a wounded Trandoshan, leading Vos to believe Grahrk had stolen the information. However Vos learned that Chak had provided the routes after stowing away on a run Grahrk was carrying out for the Wookiees; this information was key to a Republic victory and would prove vital to the ensuing battle.

While Vos and Master Unduli's forces were reinforced by Grand Master Yoda and Master Tsui Choi, the battle was interrupted by an emergency message from Coruscant. Master Windu ordered all Jedi to return to Coruscant immediately, passing their role as general onto other senior officers in the field. Shocked by the message, Vos joined Unduli, Choi and Grand Master Yoda in abandoning Kashyyyk to search for answers on Coruscant. During transit, Vos and the others were privy to Master Yoda's communications with the High Council, learning quickly that the Second Sith was in fact Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and that Windu had successfully vanquished him hours prior. Unsettled by the revelation, Vos was more eager then ever to return to the capital and discover the truth about the Sith. Accompanying Master Yoda directly to the Supreme Chancellor's offices, Vos' psychometric skills were exhausted going over every piece of evidence within the suite of offices. Reuniting with Master Tholme, who informed him that several of Palpatine's closest aides and allies were being rounded up by other Shadows, Vos was comforted to know that Master T'ra Saa had collected Khaleen Hentz and was bringing her to a safe house on Coruscant to avoid possible backlash as the war came to a dead stop.

Assisting in the major investigation into the identity of the Sith and weeding out how deeply the Sith plot delved into the Republic, Vos traveled with the Shadows to interpret the evidence discovered in different Sith stockpiles around Coruscant. During a secret conclave of the High Council, new members were summoned to replace those lost in the tumult of the past week. Unsure what to make of a summons to stand before the Council, Vos approach with apprehension only to discover that Tomac Moorcé, who had been recognized as the Order's Grand Master during the private deliberations, had nominated him to the Council. Welcomed to the Council, Vos humbly accepted the honor at being offered the seat on the august body. During the ensuing clandestine meetings Moorcé expounded on his ideas to bring the Order back from the brink, suggesting the Order move to Ossus and restore the academies on Tython in an attempt to restore the Force and the Order's role in preserving it. Vos' insight into the dark side of the Force and his close ties in the Confederacy would prove vital during discussion on the future of the Confederacy and on new teachings relating to a Balance in the Force. At the end of their private deliberations the High Council called the Conclave of Coruscant and together they revealed the new Grand Master and his shocking new plans for the Order to the entire assemblage of Jedi.

A Jedi renaissance[]

A new level of responsibility[]

Hailed as a hero by Grand Master Moorcé in recognition of his work deep undercover, Vos was overly flattered and felt it was time to come clean on all of his secrets. Standing openly in front of the Council of Judgment consisting of Moorcé, Kenobi, Shaak Ti, Djinn Altis and Coleman Kcaj, Vos confessed to his relationship with Hentz and the baby growing inside of her. Summoning Hentz to the Temple, Vos stood aside as she stood before the Council for questioning and judgment for her crimes against the Republic. Once her hearing was completed, Vos was summoned back into the chamber to hear the Council pass judgment on the pair. Reading their verdict, Moorcé declared that Hentz would be pardoned of her crimes against the Republic but would have to live out the rest of her days in Jedi custody on the planet Ossus, free to move about and do as she wished with the exception of leaving the Jedi fortress world. Additionally, per Republic law and Jedi custom, the child would be raised in the traditions of the Order with limited contact with its parents. Vos convinced Hentz that this was indeed the best option for their unborn child and the pair agreed to the terms. To conclude the hearing, Moorcé agreed that the Council would recognize the pair as married in compliance with Kiffar traditional marriage which was a state of mind not a license or state ordained practice.

Eight months later, within the Halls of Healing, Hentz gave birth to their son, Korto Vos. Painting the traditional Kiffar markings on his newborn son, Vos declared that the darkness would never touch the boy, for he would be raised in the light of the Force and would become a great Jedi. Testing the boy to determine his Force-sensitivity, the Jedi healers deemed him sufficient for training and allowed his parents to nurture him for several days before taking the young Korto to be raised within the Order. As the hype surrounding his child's birth died down between the two, Hentz agreed to take the next transport available to Ossus per the demands of the Council. As Ossus continued to be restored, Vos remained on Coruscant helping to unravel the mysteries of the Sith alongside his former master and the other Shadows still focused on the Chancellorship of Palpatine. Initially met with anger and suspicion from workers in the Senate as well as the public, support for the Jedi had stirred in the months since the death of the Chancellor as the war wound down and peace resumed. The work of the Jedi quickly became recognized as honest and transparent and even media-based attacks by the Peoples' Inquest could not tarnish their reputation. Vos eventually concluded his investigations into Palpatine's true identity, Darth Sidious, and traveled to Ossus to continue his duties as a Shadow and High Councilor. Invigorated by the beauty of the Order's new homeworld, Vos was truly happy to see Hentz enjoying her new life in her small cottage high in the Eocho Mountains where she could garden and raise simple beasts for food and travel. With more time then ever to relax and reflect, Vos accepted missions at a steady pace, searching for the remaining members of the Shadow Collective. While many within the Order believed them extinct, Vos remained convinced that some had survived and that they were simply laying low to regain their strength after such a tremendous loss.

Fears realized[]

Mission to Korriban[]

Personality and traits[]

Despite Quinlan Vos' Jedi training, he had an ongoing struggle with the dark side which flared throughout the Clone Wars. He was consumed by hatred for his great aunt, Tinté Vos, after discovering that she had sacrificed his parents to Anzati vampires, and murdered her in cold blood, completing his fall into darkness. However, despite committing many evil acts during his time with the Shadow Collective, Vos managed to convince his old friend Obi-Wan Kenobi that he still served the Republic and he helped Kenobi escape Tol Skorr and Asajj Ventress. Vos was very mindful of his cover as a Dark Acolyte, sacrificing a childhood friend, Shylar so that he wouldn't reveal himself. However, he blew his cover by rescuing his great aunt, though he killed her shortly afterwards. Vos displayed great strength of character by overcoming the dark side during the Clone Wars.

Despite being a Jedi, Quinlan Vos fell in love with Khaleen Hentz and at the end of the Clone Wars he fathered a child, Korto. While his commitment to Hentz and his child were strong, he realized the boy would prosper within the Order and agreed to turn him over to the Acquisitions Division soon after his birth. While declining to marry Hentz, he arranged for her to live out the rest of her life in peace on Ossus, far from her life of crime and secrecy. Vos had a rather sarcastic sense of humor and when he faced the Matukai warriors Tsyr and Bok on Kintan he said that the two of them against himself - who was wounded at the time - was unfair before asking them if it would be easier for them if he closed his eyes. Vos was openly disdainful of the clone troopers under his command during the Clone Wars leading him to be disliked by them and earning him a reputation for being unpleasant. With his appointment to the Jedi High Council, Vos grew even more serious in tone and demeanor, though his roguish qualities shone through in debates and discussions. Not one for reading in the Archives, Vos was typically found deep in meditation or brooding around the Temple's dim-lit corridors on his way to a meal or training session.

Powers and abilities[]

Form seven is very aggressive, Quin. It can take the user very close to the dark side—and you, frankly, sometimes walk too close there as it is.
—Mace Windu

Aside from his first few years training on his homeworld, Quinlan Vos received his initial training at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, ensuring that he possessed a standard understanding of the Force, and its applications. Having achieved the rank of Knight, was trained as a Jedi Guardian and he wielded a single green-bladed lightsaber, though his chosen blade color changed throughout his lifetime. The hilt design was similar to that of Dooku's standard, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsabers. He was a master of Ataru and taught his apprentice Aayla Secura everything he knew.

Vos was also trained in Vaapad by Master Sora Bulq, though he was not a master of it. Vos would later demonstrate his new talents inadvertently during a practice session with Mace Windu, who immediately recognized his move as part of Vaapad. Windu abruptly halted the duel, warning Vos not to use Vaapad again, as Vos was already considered to tread too closely to the dark side for him to safely employ Vaapad. However, while Vos was serving as a double agent for Count Dooku during the Clone Wars, he was encouraged by Bulq, who had by that time allied with Dooku, to take up Vaapad's power again. Mace Windu, in his private memoir, expressed concerns and suspected Vos has mastered Vaapad to a degree greater than than the Kiffar Jedi revealed. Quinlan Vos would later demonstrate his level of mastery of Vaapad in defeating Sora Bulq during the siege of Salecumi in lightsaber combat. Sith Lord Darth Tyranus also trained Vos in some elements of Form II: Makashi, while characterizing Vos' dueling skills as "appalling". The Kiffar had also been shown to hold his lightsaber in reverse grip indicating he was a practitioner of Shien. Vos's abilities with a lightsaber allowed him to defeat and slay three Dark Acolytes during the Clone Wars; Kadrian Sey, Tol Skorr, and even Sora Bulq. It should be noted that Bulq was considered to be one of the greatest swordsmen of his time.

In addition to his considerable lightsaber combat skills Vos had the power of psychometry, the ability to read images from objects. As a Shadow and an investigator, this technique was particularly useful and made Vos a skilled educator on the subject. Vos was also one of the few Jedi during the Clone Wars who was able to cloak himself completely in the Force, which he learned from Tholme and passed on to his peers following the war to ensure it became a commonly taught technique at the Grand Academy. An expert tracker, he could locate his enemies based on their effects on the environment and the Force. He also had considerable working knowledge of espionage and counter-intelligence, and worked as a double agent for several years. While working undercover, Tyranus personally trained Quinlan Vos in the Sith arts including the ability to cast Force lightning from his finger tips and beast control.
