Quenam Kasafee was male Impar shapeshifter recruited as a Novice of the Order of Keltrayu. He was born on Vor'Dal shortly after the planet was absorbed into the Golden Empire, and his birth was sensed by Prime Legate Sorrik, who was on the planet overseeing its surrender. He discovered Quenam, and the Impar authorities strongly encouraged the Kasafees to submit their child to the Order as a gesture of goodwill.
Quenam was taken to the Citadel where he was tended in infancy by the Order's nursery droid, as well as Rayne Turgachia and Jira Zaffrod. Quenam grew up with Jira's daughter Siobhan and the Narxoxicrar Wyriz, and the three became close friends—they were together so often that their comrades began calling them "Sioquyriz" to save time. They were also very close with Rayne, and Quenam often affected blond hair as a sign of affection for her.
Though just as rambunctious and playful as his best friends, Quenam was the quietest of the three; Siobhan was the most dominant personality, and Wyriz favored demonstrative expression. Quenam had strong control over his shapeshifting for a child of his age, and often used physical changes rather than words to express his moods.
