Q-17 was a Q-series droideka which fought in the Clone Wars before joining the Droid Confederacy.
Biography[]
It was unknown where Q-17 was manufactured, and by whom. It probably had some form of modification as it was built especially for Grievous. Q-17 served most of its early life on board the Invisible Hand, but in 22 BBY it was transferred to guarding Grievous, where it was briefly involved in the Battle of Hypori.
Battle of Hypori[]
With Q-17 inactive, Grievous is forced to duel the Jedi alone.
During the battle, Q-17 emerged at the head of the droid forces. As he was the most dangerous droid, the Jedi quickly force pushed him into a wall, and assumed he was destroyed. When Grievous started to battle the Jedi, he expected Q-17 to come and help him, but saw it smashed against a wall, so continued the battle alone. After victory had been won, Grievous took Q-17 to the Hypori factory to be repaired, and he was ready to continue service in a few weeks.
Remainder of the Clone Wars[]
The Clone Wars continued for a few more years, and Q-17 was frequently alternated from being Grievous bodyguard to a defender of Capital Ships. In 19 BBY, at the end of the Clone Wars, Q-17 was placed in action on what would later become known as the Survivor. While on board, plans were made to escape from the Republic and Q-17 joined the conspiracy. Just before they were about to leave, a battle started when some Jedi and Clone Troopers entered the ship. Q-17 killed several clone troopers, and was soon joined by Unit 933, a droid it had worked with several times during the Clone Wars. The battle was won when Order 66 was ordered and the clones briefly turned on the Jedi. All of the droids escaped safely to Providence.
The Droid Confederacy[]
The Droid Confederacy was founded, and Q-17 was made part of the Droid Parliament. It also became a commander in the Confederacy's army. The rest of the Droid Parliament realised that Q-17 could not be a useful member as it could not speak or communicate with them in any way, so gave it an upgrade meaning that it could.
Second battle of Providence[]
During the Second battle of Providence, Q-17 was tasked with guarding the command bridge of the Survivor from the Galactic Droid Empire. During this time, it was confronted by Darth Tyler, who had a brief duel with it. Q-17 appeared to be beating Tyler, until Tyler realised that Q-17's shield generator had beed upgraded to deflect anything. After this, Tyler only used occasional attacks to make sure Q-17 kept its shield up, and eventually the shield ran out of power and Q-17 had Force Lightning used on it, which temporarily short circuited it. Tyler then entered the command bridge.
Later, when Tyler was going to return to the Medal, Q-17 follwed him in its Droideka Interceptor, the Seventeener. It followed Tyler into the Medal, and was met by Sollas Vikkal, Unit 933 and Azz'gabat, who loaded Q-17's Droid Interceptor into their Quarren Gunship and began to set off. Azz'gabat, however stayed behind.
