Q'u Branch's Ultra Agent Droid, or QUAD for short, was a droid that Q'u Branch created specifically to act as an MI5 operative.
Biography[]
In possession of future time travel technology, the droid QUAD accidentally traveled to 3000 BBY and was inadvertently involved in the Raid on Spearhead during the War of the Gungan tribes. Before departing that era, he helped save the life of Bolo Binks, thus preserving the Binks family name and bloodline.
The time travelling droid then ended up in 58 BBY where he met artist Dono Tello on Tatooine. QUAD assisted Dono by scaring off a group of hoodlum kids that had been breaking into his workshop and destroying the sculptures.
Two decades later, Q'u had been working on designing and creating the droid for sometime and finally unveiled it to the MI5 agents in 37 BBY. He was activated and joined the MI5 agents during their mission surrounding the Alderaan Daylights murders. Soon after, QUAD assisted in eliminating the murderer Gideon Roon outside of Aldera Stadium.
In 34 BBY, after assisting Jace Bont in apprehending Asho Luckbar, Q'u upgraded QUAD with the Space-Time Displacer which allowed QUAD to travel through time and space. He used that technology to help his fellow MI5 operatives in investigating Dr. Noah's labs on five different planets simultaneously. He then used the time travel technology to multiply himself in the battle with Noah's mutant army on Khubeaie. When he accidentally jumped into the future after the mission, he saw some unspeakable things. So when he returned to 34 BBY, he fried his own circuits, killing himself to protect that information.
Time-travel sequence of events[]
A "real time" chronology can be seen in the Appearances section of this article. But listed here is the series of known events as they played out in the life of QUAD.
- 37 BBY
- QUAD was created by Q'u Branch and assisted in the "Limmie" mission.
- 34 BBY
- QUAD witnessed his future-self killing the Whiphid bodyguard on Ando Prime, then helped Jace Bont apprehend Asho Luckbar. Back at MI5 HQ, Q'u upgraded QUAD with the Space-Time Displacer. QUAD accessed it for the first time.
- 3000 BBY
- QUAD found himself in an unknown time and unknown location.
- Trying again, he ended up in the same time and place. Finding himself in the middle of the War of the Gungan tribes on Naboo, he helped save the life of soldier Bolo Binks, then attempted another jump through time.
- 58 BBY
- This time travel attempt landed QUAD on Tatooine where he assisted artist Dono Tello by scaring off a group of hoodlum kids that had been breaking into his workshop and destroying the sculptures. He then jumped through time again.
- 34 BBY
- QUAD eventually returned to HQ only seconds after he left in 34 BBY.
- After the "recapture Dr. Noah" mission briefing, QUAD jumped back in time a few days to kill the Whiphid bodyguard on Ando Prime, then returned to where he was in the present.
- As the mission began, QUAD jumped ahead a few hours to help Shasta Moonreaper investigate Noah's lab on Ord Mantell.
- QUAD then jumped another few hours ahead in time to help Gruu Funkistann and Acura Krill fight the terentatek on Kashyyyk, where his chest plate was damaged.
- Jumping back in time a few hours, QUAD joined Europa Kapanen in the battle between two settlements on Jakku, where QUAD's chest plate was repaired with a red one.
- Jumping back another few hours, QUAD assisted Pandolfo Taproot in investigating Noah's lab on Ilum.
- Then traveling another couple hours ahead, QUAD joined Jace Bont on Dagobah to find Noah escaping on a ship. QUAD made an immediate jump through space only and ended up stowing away on the ship.
- Hours later, when Noah's ship landed on Khubeaie, QUAD made the jump back a few hours to rejoin Bont on Dagobah only seconds after the ship left.
- Toward the end of the mission, while on Khubeaie, QUAD fought the battle against the mutant army, then traveled back a few minutes to fight the battle again to assist his past-self, and continued to do so 20 times in order to create an army of himself.
- Q'u Branch repaired QUAD in the days that followed. But when Q'u attempted to remove the Space-Time Displacer, it activated sending QUAD to an unknown location somewhere in the future.
- QUAD returned to the present badly damaged and not wanting to report on his findings. So he killed himself.
Specifications[]
QUAD was programmed with all knowledge of MI5 combat and weapons training. His memory also contained all files from MI5's databanks. He was able to calculate probabilities swiftly, jack into computer systems, hack, override, and perform any computer related tasks.
Built into both of his large forearms were blaster cannons, his shoulders popped open to reveal spotlights, and there were repulsors built in to the bottom of his feet which allowed him to fly. His internal defense systems also fought against electromagnetic pulse attacks, rerouting that energy to his arm cannons.
His face only consisted of two metal plates. The photoreceptors were built directly into the metal of his face. There were numerous photoreceptors in the upper plate, lining the curvature, giving QUAD an almost panoramic view. He was able to see a full 180 degrees in front of him.
Behind the scenes[]
QUAD was based on the character R-110 from the video game TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.
