The quest for power is the driving force of history. Always has been, always will be. Those who do not recognize this principle are not spared in the grand chess game, but rather, are manipulated and moved by forces which they do not understand.
—Pultimo Sidrona

Pultimo Sidrona was a Human male politician and bureaucrat who held several different positions in the goverments of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, New Republic, and Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. A competent administrator, Sidrona avidly studied crowd psychology, and gained a good understanding of manipulating public opinion. He was viewed to be cunning by Mon Mothma, who was the Chief of State of both the Alliance and the New Republic for a time. Pultimo was the son of the senator of Coruscant in the Galactic Senate, and later in the Imperial Senate, Arkemides Sidrona. His father taught him politics from an early age, and thus he was prepared to be a life-long politician. However, Sidrona hated the Galactic Empire for its many atrocities, which he learned about through his father. When the elder Sidrona was executed by the Imperial Security Bureau on false charges of treason, he had enough and left to join the Rebels, as he would probably would have been arrested for being related to the senator anyway.

In the Rebel Alliance, which he joined in 1 BBY, Sidrona was appointed the Minister of Industry. He performed well in the position, overseeing the industrial output and assets of the Alliance. Mon Mothma therefore appointed him as the Secretary of the Cabinet, essentially the head of government, in 2 ABY, after the original holder was killed by the Empire. He quickly gained a reputation for being an authority figure among the cabinet, bringing in a new sense of discipline and increasing the efficiency of the cabinet. Sidrona was praised for his work but at the same time was viewed by Mothma and Leia Organa with suspicion, who were worried that he may be gaining too much power. However, over the next two years leading up to Endor, Sidrona made no attempt at a power grab. Following the formation of the New Republic, he became the Chair of the Senate, overseeing the newly formed Senate.

Biography

Born into politics

Sidrona was born on the capital of the Galactic Republic, Coruscant, in 32 BBY. He was born into a noble family, to Arkemides Sidrona, the senator representing the capital in the Galactic Senate. The elder Sidrona raised his son by teaching him politics, expecting the young Pultimo to succeed him in some way. He took the younger Sidrona to Senate secessions and meetings throughout the Senate District. Pultimo avidly studied politics and became his father's protege. When the Republic turned into the Galactic Empire, Arkemides continued to represent the newly renamed "Imperial Center" in the Senate. However, they could see that the influence and power of the Senate diminished as the years went by. It soon became apparent that the Senate was know not much more than an advisory body to Emperor Palpatine. And Senator Sidrona let his son know the truth (teaching him about propaganda extensively and how to ignore it) about the atrocities that the Empire committed across the galaxy. Both Sidronas grew a dislike of the New Order.

In 2 BBY, the elder Sidrona, as well as his son, who was now the special representative of Coruscant in the Senate, began meeting with Bail Organa, the senator of Alderaan and a known opponent and critic of the Emperor. They tried to do so in secret, but Senator Sidrona was eventually caught by the Imperial Security Bureau. Even though they did not discuss anything about openly rebelling against the Empire, but merely talked about possible reforms that could possibly be passed in the Senate, the elder Sidrona was still accused of treason and executed without a trial. This enraged Pultimo, who fled Coruscant on his family's yacht and eventually ended up in territory held by the recently formed Alliance to Restore the Republic. After a brief conversation with General Rahm Kota, Sidrona was accepted into the Rebellion.

Making a career as a Rebel

Once accepted in 2 BBY, Sidrona served on positions assisting higher ranking officials and officers. He ran into Bail Organa while in the Alliance, who expressed sadness and concern for the elder Sidrona's death. He knew that the young man was more knowledgable than what the Alliance leadership believed, and vouched for him to Mon Mothma. In late 1 BBY, when she formed the Alliance Civil Government, Mothma took up Organa's advice and promoted Sidrona to the cabinet. To test his administrative skills, she made him the Minister of Industry, overseeing the industrial capacity and assets of the Alliance, and ensuring that the Alliance receives the resources it needs to continue fighting the Galactic Civil War. Sidrona realized it was sort of a test, and did well, keeping the industry running efficiently and working closely with fellow ministers, becoming more liked by the cabinet. He quickly gained a reputation among fellow officials for being a no-nonsense, efficient worker.

Mon Mothma recognized this, and praised Sidrona for his abilities. He continued working, coming to like being in the Alliance. Sidrona was saddened by the death of Organa with the destruction of Alderaan by the Empire, and it solidified his belief that he made the right decision by joining the Rebellion. During this, at one incident, he was almost captured by the Empire on Hypori, while investigating the old droid factories on the planet. However, Sidrona managed to evade capture. Throughout 2 ABY, Sidrona continued the same role, and worked on provisioning the base on Hoth. That year, Valrex Tradi, the Secretary of the Cabinet, essentially Mothma's prime minister, was killed by Imperial troops during an attack on a vessel that he was on. Mothma decided to appoint Sidrona as the new Secretary of the Cabinet. This was agreed on by the other ministers.

As such, he was present at the First Conference of Free Peoples, in which matters of internal governance were discussed.
