Beater and Deadeye beamed into the transporter room of the Republic star destroyer Destiny
Project 239 was the codename for a highly classified Republic scientific project being developed by Republic Intelligence's Scientific Branch during the Clone Wars.
Overview[]
It's aim was to develop transporter technology, in order to transport, or "beam", from different locations with a transporter. As stated by Republic scientist Verilion Toran, the machine would take apart the atoms of the being or object being transported and reassemble them at the destination point.
History[]
Only the highest officers in the Galactic Republic, such as clone marshal commanders and Grand Admirals, were authorized to know about it.
In 21 BBY, the Republic Star Destroyer Destiny was carrying two experimental transporters aboard it during the Battle of Hoth. It was used to beam up two captured clone troopers, Beater and Deadeye, from a Separatist prison.
The Chancellor himself did not know much of the project until the Declaration of a New Order in 19 BBY, where it was revealed to the galaxy. However, early transporters were not pracxtical, and were not widely used.
