Povis, rarely referred to its native name, Ian Kino, was a planet in the Povis system, all the way out in the Outer Rim Territories. Povis is the most outward planet settled under normal circumstances within the Cybe sector. Povis was once the site of the Cult of Odaine, a group of zealots fanatically worshipping the mythical god Odaine, due to Aradani expansion, the cult faced extinction.
History[]
The Cult of Odaine[]
Povis was discovered a couple of years before 2876 BBY by the Aradani Royal Navy. Beset upon by Aradani colonists, the initial attempts at colonization failed as they were killed by members of the Cult of Odaine, a group of fanatics loyal to the mythical God Odaine. Further attempts were halted, and instead the Aradani Royal Marines and later Aradani Royal Army were deployed to pacify the local population.
Deployment of military ground forces resulted in a long, drawn-out campaign. The Aradani were led by general Christopher Cour, who died fighting the cult. In 2876 BBY however, the cult had been driven to near-extinction and Povis was added to the Kingdom of Aradan.
Later history[]
It remained a proud member of the kingdom of Aradan, but faced a parliamentary interregnum when the kingdom was absolved and the majority of its members joined the Galactic Republic. Povis refused, and a central form of government ceased to exist for a brief period of time. However, the royal army managed to restore order for the next few years, up until 19 BBY.
In 4 ABY, Povis was beset upon by Norven Loyaler's Aradan Union.
By the time of the Aradan Union in 5 ABY, a large majority of cities on the planet suffered from an economic crisis as a result of the temporary collapse of the Cyberlane.
By the time of the Aradan Sectorate, Povis had enjoyed relative recovery from its economic situation and became a member of the democratic government.
