Panaka was a Captain of the Naboo Security Force during the invasion of Naboo in 19 BBY. He and others, along with Queen Sabe Amidala, were captured by Battle droids. Two Jedi Knights, Qui-Gon Jinn and his former Apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi saved Panaka and the others, along with the Gungan Jar Jar Bink. They escaped in the Naboo Royal Starship and eventually crash landed on Utapau.
