Light and Dark, two sides of the whole. The Jedi and the Sith confined themselves to one aspect. We command both, for neither can attain its truest power without the other.
—Cor Syman, explaining the Order's teaching to Nolvar Linx.
The Order of Twilight was a Force-Sensitive Order founded by Gage De'Cor, one of Emperor Palpatine's former Dark Side Elite. Despite being primarily affiliated with the Dark Side of the Force, the Order was notable for also practicing methodology of the Light Side Wielders, such as the Jedi, in order to "temper" the Dark Side as a key to greater power.
Background[]
Emperor Palpatine, mastermind behind the rise of the Galactic Empire and the downfall of the Jedi Order, fell with the destruction of the Second Death Star at the Battle of Endor. Barely a year later, his Empire would suffer two defeats that left it crippled on the planets of Jakku and Utapau. In the chaos of the Second Battle of Utapau, Gage De'Cor, one of the surviving Dark Side Elite was approached by his comrade, Petarion Corvus, to join him as part of Petarion's, now styling himself Darth Petruv, New Sith Order. However, Gage refused this request, partially from loyalty to his late Emperor and partially due to his origins as a Jedi Padawan, and was forced to defend himself from his, now former, comrade. Both survived their duel, though Petarion was later wounded by the Free Knights Sentinel Kir Syman, with Gage making his escape from the planet with the aid of Cor Syman, Kir's younger brother who had considered Gage both mentor and friend. With limited fuel, Gage and Cor found their way to the world of Sendrior, Gage guided by the pull of the force. There, they found an abandoned Jedi Temple, built atop caverns with veins of Kyberite. Seeing this as a chance to create a new destiny for himself, Gage declared the founding of a new order based upon his two schools of training; The Order of Twilight.
Organisation[]
Unlike the Jedi Order, the Order of Twilight's leadership is built around a single individual known only as the Twilight Father, the first being Gage De'Cor. Below him was his second, the Twilight's Heir, who would assume the mantle of Father following the previous Father's demise. Below them were the Twilight Masters, fully trained members of the Order who functioned in a fashion similar to the Jedi Masters. Next came the Twilight Blades, filling the roles of Jedi Knights/Sith Warriors. Twilight Apprentices, the trainee members of the Order, could be taken by any member of the Order, provided they themselves were fully trained members of the Order. A unique, and potentially destabilizing, quirk in the Orders line of succession of Heir to Father was that the Heir was not necessarily, nor ever nessecarily was, the Father's apprentice, the most notable example being Gage and his successor, Cor Syman. Similar to the Sith, Twilight Apprentices could be adults when they were inducted to the order, though many Masters preferred to mentor their apprentices from a young age.
Beliefs[]
While the Order originated from practices of the Dark Side of the Force, the members of the Order were trained to maintain a firm control of the Dark Side with teachings of the Light Side of the Force, such as those practiced by the Jedi. Gage preached that the true path to power was through the careful usage of both sides of the Force, a view that was continued under his successor Cor Syman, and his official apprentice Coran Hiborn. However, the Order also viewed itself as a balancing factor between the Light and Dark side organisations, opposing both side when one grew too strong in comparison to the other, such as Cor Syman interfering with a Sith plot during the rise of the First Order.
