The Order of Distinction was the third of the Golden Empire's orders of merit. It was awarded to civilians who were not government employees for "meritorious service to the Royal government". It was junior to the Royal Service Order and senior to the Order of Merit.
Grades and awards[]
Awarded in three degrees—Knight, Companion, and Member—the Order of Distinction was customarily awarded to beings who rendered services to the Empire's government without actually being part of it. Examples were members of the Synno Gendarmes, who were employed by the government of Synno itself, not the Empire. Renamo Kemset, a Nei who killed Enemy of the Empire Kilwyo Kesh, was made a Companion of the Order. Kweerikirr, Crees'tuf of the P'w'eck Confederation, was also made a Knight of the Order upon the alliance between the Confederation and the Empire in 142 ABY. Kyriel Windrunner was nominated for the Order as a result of her actions which alerted the Empire to the threat of Impar terrorists, but declined the honor.
Design[]
All three grades had the same medal: a gold Abstalian Phoenix head set on a silver plate, on a gold and green rosette. The medal was suspended from a sky blue ribbon with varying numbers of green stripes.
