Order 51 was a legal military order issued by a Sith Lord who was disguised as the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the Second Clone Wars. The contents of the order were replaced by the Sith, differing from the originally registered order to capture defective clone troopers. The replacement strictly meant for the extermination of all Jedi Generals, shinies and then every single clone of the Great Clone Forces.
The execution of the order caused the deactivation of the Clone Forces, and prompted the rise of the Dark Galactic Republic. Eventually, all surviving clone troopers were labelled as fugitives and hunted down to extinction. Hence, the remaining clones became infuriated and upheld a clone rebellion that eventually resulted in the eruption of the Third Clone Wars.

The command of the order was issued exclusively throughout the whole galaxy to the clone troopers once the Supreme Chancellor was killed and his impersonater took place.

Most of the obeying clone troopers executed the order flawlessly. But the rest were defective due to the lack of influence of the Supreme Chancellor.
