Ord Vejovis is one of those in-between planets you could say is important enough to be chosen as a permanent base by the Republic and having a continuous Judicial presence, but not important enough to be a big political player even with its Colonies region peers.
Horatio Kersion, on the importance of Ord Vejovis.

Ord Vejovis was a big terrestrial world in the Colonies region of the galaxy. As its system was located at the intersection of three moderately important secondary hyperlanes the planet, then named just Vejovis, was colonized very early during a wave of expansionism of the early Galactic Republic by core-originating Humans. The strategic importance led the Republic to eventually expand Vejovis into an official Ordnance/Regional Depot, adding the permament prefix Ord to its name.

Description[]

Having its orbit in ideal distance to its sun the planet had comfortable moderate seasons all year around and likewise enough fertile land distributed across four continents and several island groups to sustain its population of more than 6.2 billion inhabitants as well as some surplus left for export.

Inside the big cities varying industrial goods were produced while in orbit there were two Republic-owned repair yards big enough to attend to cruiser- and destroyer-size ships. The renowned starship manufacturer Rendili StarDrive operated one cruiser-scale and one capital-scale shipyard in orbit as well together with a massive orbital storehouse which could hold several mothballed reserve ships.

Due to the intersection of three hyperlanes, secondary as they might be, the Vejovis system profited at least from a moderate amount of trade traffic, mainly through small family businesses and independent traders from around the sector.

History[]

Republic Era before the Clone Wars[]

The Republic Judicial Forces used the planet as one of several hundred permanent bases in the Colonies region during the era of the great peace to enact security patrols and fight galactic crime by sending patrol groups out through all three secondary hyperlanes into different systems and sectors.

The repair yards were used to maintain and repair Judicial vessels while the Rendili-owned shipyards sparsely produced new Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruisers throughout the decades.

To attract even more trade and thus profit, a great additional orbital trade port was constructed near Ord Vejovis' moon Idey from 81 BBY to 79 BBY.

Galandia with Gozantis

The Galandia, one of the 250 reactivated reserve units, is escorted by the Judicial Gozanti-Cruisers Nelkadorium, Osmodurim and Komentaja towards the capital shipyard at Ord Vejovis to start her modernization.

In 60 BBY Ord Vejovis gained a bit of prominence in the HoloNet news as it was the planet where the starting shots of the great modernization program for old Invincible-class Dreadnaughts were fired in accordance with a recent rare major decision of the Republic Senate. The vessel Galandia which was held in the planets storehouse being reactivated and brought to the capital shipyard in order to be upgraded to the new Invincible-class RJF-version.

In the following years the Rendili shipyards above Ord Vejovis would continue to modernize more Invincible-ships for the Judicial Forces one at a time, working in tandem with hundreds of other shipyards.

Clone Wars[]

During the Clone Wars, Ord Vejovis remained staunchly loyal to the Republic and became an important base for GAR activities in its own and neighboring sectors of the Colonies region.

The repair yards of the planet proved to be a valuable asset for the Republic Navy as they tended to hundreds of damaged Republic warships throughout the war years.

During the first half of the war the Rendili-owned shipyards continued to produce Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruisers at a higher rate in order to bolster the numbers of the Republic fleet and provide more reserve units for planetary defenses.

Under the watch of representatives belonging to Republic High Command a second capital shipyard was built in the orbit of Ord Vejovis to allow faster parallel production of ships, which culminates in the shipyards producing new Victory I-class Star Destroyers during the second half of the Clone Wars.
