Oppo Rancisis was a Thisspiasian male who abdicated the throne on his homeworld of Thisspias in favour of becoming a Jedi Master. Offered to the Jedi Order by the current Blood Monarch, his mother, he was apprenticed to Jedi Master Yaddle, training to become a Jedi Knight in 200 BBY. In 186 BBY, Rancisis's sister was killed by terrorists, and he was offered the throne; he declined, instead preferring to continue on the path of the Jedi.
After achieving the rank of Master and being given a place on the Jedi High Council, Rancisis served as one of the Jedi's top military advisors due to his tactical nous. He was also a member of and often led the Council of Reconciliation. Rancisis served the Jedi Council through the re-emergence of the Sith Order, the Separatist Crisis, and the First Battle of Geonosis, and when the Clone Wars began, he became a Jedi General. Along with Yoda, Rancisis spent much of the war on Coruscant, organizing and coordinating Republic forces through the galaxy, such as during the defense of Kamino and the Battle of Zaadja, conferring with Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, and serving on the Council of Reconciliation.
