The Onderonian Revolutionary War was a brief and bloody conflict fought on Onderon for two months in 70 ABY. The Onderonian Liberation Front (OLF) revolted against the Onderon government, known as the Loyalists, and executed the newly elected Queen, Tayla, who was an avid supporter of the Republic and anti-Sith. Vruuk viewed the Queen as naïve and too young to hold the rank. He gathered over several thousand supporters in Iziz by claiming the Queen was killing off prisoners accused of treason and torturing the children to become loyal to her. With the many followers, Vruuk created the Onderonian Liberation Front, promising to free Onderon of the tyrannical rule of Tayla.
The leaders of the OLF composed a plan that would take Onderon. The plan called for an attack on the Market and then taking the Sky Ramp there, moving up towards the palace, and finally capturing the palace and performing a live execution of the Tayla for everyone to view. For the two months preceding the planned battle, Vruuk decided to use the dedication and loyalty of his followers to torture the government by continuous bombings, riots, rallies, and shootouts with the Loyalist soldiers. Over three hundred citizens and seventy soldiers were killed in those two months.
One morning, on three months since Tayla became Queen, the Onderonian Liberation Front sent 1,500 rebel soldiers to attack the Sky Ramp. The guards, only two shy of a dozen, were quickly overrun as the majority of the OLF forces attacked. While the Sky Ramp was being defended, fighters smuggled onto Onderon by pirates where taking off and bombing key sections of the city, military barracks and checkpoints, and air defense towers. Iziz was in complete turmoil as the battle was taken to the streets with citizens fighting citizens. Queen Tayla stood at a large window in her quarters and watched as the city was engulfed in flames from bombings, both air attacks and bombs planted in the city. Some of the tallest buildings that had stood for millennia were being destroyed. She also could see the Sky Ramp and the OLF soldiers completely dominating her troops.
When the OLF captured the Sky Ramp, the remaining six hundred troops, led by Vruuk, came behind the palace and waited for the guard to be let down and flank them from the rear. The guards at the Wall and surrounding the palace were called in to stop the OLF from entering into the Queen's house. They put up a good fight, and were holding the rebel forces off, killing them and starting to win, until the Onderonian Liberation Front troops under Vruuk stormed the backside of the palace, blasting a hole to enter. They took the Loyalists by complete surprise and many surrendered. However, the surrendering troops were given no quarter and executed on the spot. In minutes, Onderon had been taken and the Queen was held hostage. In a live video feed to all houses and computer terminals still operational and intact, Vruuk executed the Queen by shooting her in non-lethal spots (i.e. the hand, the foot, the leg, etc.) and then decapitating her. The execution was committed in the Palace Room.
To the Onderonian Liberation Front, and allies afterward, the war lasted two months from the first bombing to the execution of Tayla. To the Republic and remaining Loyalists, the war started the day of the Battle of Iziz until the capture of the palace. The Loyalists that weren't killed were given a chance to redeem themselves and turn to the OLF side or face death. Over 95% of the seventeen thousand captured Loyalists (citizens and soldiers) refused to turn and were executed. A total of 2,479,326 were killed in one day, making it the bloodiest battle in Onderon history and the Republic's worst and most deadly one-day, planetary revolution or civil war.
