Language is an organism. The entity of language is born, germinates, hybrids itself, and through the earnestness of social and political forces, languages can even die.
Arner Figgis, Chief Linguist at the University of Be'Nal on Issor and ardent student of the Socorran language and it's links to Olys Corellisi

Olys Corellisi or directly translated as Old Corellian in Basic was a Corellian language primarily used by early Corellians throughout the Corellian system and to a lesser extent, the Corellian sector before the Old Republic era. Around 25,000 BBY, as the Corellian shipbuilding industry boomed with their famed reinvention of the hyperdrive, interplanetary colonization caused Corellian culture to intermix with other Core Worlder's such as Coruscant and Alderaan. This coupled with Corellia's large role in the founding of the Galactic Republic ultimately brought about the eventual phasing out of the language as Galactic Basic dominated interplanetary affairs, culture and trade.

After twenty millennium's the language was largely considered obscure and outdated. Though despite it's lack of use relative to the rest of the galaxy, Olys Corellisi was still being pushed in local institutions of education especially among art, language history colleges. Most Olys Corellisi speakers by 19 BBY preserved it in remembrance of the early Corellian people and associated nostalgia for Corellia's once prominent role in galactic affairs. This camp included conservatives, nationalists, public officials and security detail. The latter mostly out of need as many smugglers, thieves, fringers used close deviations of the language as code for internal communication.

A number of pieces of Corellian culture were written in Olys Corellisi, including but not limited to, Burrin Aa'kau, Zals Turhaya and the tragedy of the Trickster King.

Behind the scenes[]

Despite the author's goal on making a cohesive story blend in with both Canon and Legends, Clynese was retconned to be Olys Corellisi. The author felt there was no reason for Clynese to be a separate language if there was already talk about it being Corellian. A retcon largely inconsequential in the large scope of things.

Beautiful Rian Johnson

"Beautiful!" Rian Johnson's response to what is canonically Clynese

James Clyne, the design supervisor that created Clynese based off his design at existing languages from Thailand and the Middle East. He'd come up with three variations. Director and writer Rian Johnson would write back in a email encoded in the language that applauded Clyne's work for being "Beautiful!!" that'd go on to make Clyne's day.

A lot of Corellian articles written by the author,Starmiinor, uses Olysi Corellisi as a basis for inspiration and starting point for Corellian lore.
