The Octom War was a brief, but devastating conflict between the Octom Coalition and the Sith Order of Decreto during the early 160's ABY. The conflict saw the Hand Darth Nihl be promoted to the rank of Sith Lord.
Prologue[]
The seeds of war started long before Krayt's rise to power, within the rubble of the Sith Crusade. Following the final advances of Darth Abeonis' Sith armadas during the year 66 ABY many planets that had thus far been unaffected by war suddenly found themselves on the front line, straight in the way of the invading Sith.
Many worlds realized that in order to even hope too survive the Sith they would need to become one, and so the Octom Coalition was born. The Coalition soon realized that even though they had become stronger united, they would never survive a Sith invasion, and so they decided that they would surrender to the Sith, on the condition that they retain their independence.
Although the Dark Lord agreed, he did impose some serious sanctions upon the Octom people. They had to pay taxes, provide a cut of their profits from any expenditure.
Even after the death of Abeonis, this trouble continued. Darth Proditor insisted that the payments continue through-out the Successors War, even going so far as to increase the amount needing to be payed. Reluctantly, the Coalition agreed, slowly building up their forces in preparation to break off from a severely weakened Decreton Empire following the Successors War. But one thing Nuun, future commander of the Octom Coalition didn't count on was Darth Krayt becoming Emperor.
With Krayt as Emperor, the Sith Order of Decreto emerged from the war more centralized, and stronger than it had ever been since Darth Abeonis' death. Nuun knew that it was only a matter of time before the peoples of the Octom Coalition became restless, and so he decided that soon, the time would come for war.
Krayt's fist[]
The time finally came in 160 ABY when a single Decreto-class Super Star Destroyer encroached on Octom space.
