OOM droid marine, mainly known as droid marine, were OOM specialized droids that were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems naval forces. They were programmed with advanced combat tactics and were used aboard Confederate Navy vessels as guards along with security droids, but mainly they were used to board enemy vessels during combat. Their heads included chips that were uploaded with the schematics of the latest Republic Navy warships, so when they boarded they would know the weak points of the ship they were aboard as well as their locations.

Characteristics[]

The droid marines were OOM-series battle droids. They served as the secondary defenders of Separatist warships during battles (second to the OOM security droids). They primarily specialized in raiding enemy ships. For this purpose, the droids were equipped with advanced computer brains that held schematics of enemy ships, giving them locations of themselves and their comrades as well as the weak points of the ship. They were armed with advanced blaster rifles and standard CIS rocket launchers. They had programming to pilot Separatist Navy spacecraft, but it was limited, and they oftentimes left the piloting to OOM pilot droids.

History[]

The droid marines were designed as part of the OOM-series battle droid project, an attempt by the CIS to built better, more intelligent droids. They were used heavily during the Clone Wars. Droid marines were more than a match for clone marines that the Galactic Republic used, and won many battles in the War. However, most were deactivated after the execution of the Separatist Council. Many Separatist holdouts used the droid marines as part of their fleets, but those were destroyed. Over the years, many were rediscovered and reactivated by the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, though were rarely seen in combat. In later years, few were seen in service of the New Republic navy as backup forces, and rarely were seen in combat.
