Nuru Kungurama, born Kung'urama'nuruodo, was a male Chiss Jedi Padawan who lived during the Clone Wars. After surviving Order 66 and losing his connection to the Force, he joined Big Gizz's swoop bike gang and took on the name Spiker.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Kung'urama'nuruodo was born on Csilla in 33 BBY. In that year, an escape pod containing the infant Chiss was discovered by Jedi Masters Dooku and Ring-Sol Ambase and brought into the Jedi Order. A mishearing of the capsule containing his name led them to give him the name Nuru Kungurama. Raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Nuru was eventually taken on as a Padawan by Jedi Master Lanchu Skaa.[1]

Order 66[]

In 19 BBY, the Great Jedi Purge began with the issuing of Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. When the clone troopers of Breakout Squad turned against Nuru, he discovered that he had lost connection to the Force,[2] as was typical of most Force-sensitive Chiss.[3] With the help of Big Gizz, Nuru managed to escape from the clones and went into hiding as the Purge continued under the newly established Galactic Empire.[2] Joining Big Gizz's swoop gang, Nuru claimed to know nothing of his origins to those that asked[4] and hid his physical appearance with a set of spiked armor, which earned him the nickname "Spiker."[5]

Behind the scenes[]

Originally separate characters, Nuru Kungurama and Spiker were merged into the same character for the purposes of the Destiny Universe based on the authorial intent of Nuru's creator Ryder Windham that the two characters were one and the same, an idea which Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee expressed approval of.[6]
