Nortalia was a unitary state found on the Solar System planet Earth. It was founded from northerns of the now-defunct nation Talia, which was overthrown from a civil war prior to its collapse. It was considered the capital state of the Union States.
The nation was led by an elected Prime Minister who in turn led the Ruling Council. Its legislative and judicial sections were led by an elected Minister who oversaw the Senate and Court.
History[]
Formation[]
After overthrowing the oppressive Talian government, Nortalia became an independent nation and had its established its own government and had the leader of their revolution appointed as its first Prime Minister, who also chose the first Minister. Vaxsås became the nation's capital city.
However, unlike their southern neighbors, Nortalia didn't adopt the republic form of government, considering its nation as a private matter rather than a public matter. While it did not create any tension with the public, it did allow the Prime Minister to exercise power similar to that of an emperor, but not making Nortalia a full empire.
War with Soutalia[]
In 135 BBY, an unidentified Prime Minister of Nortalia had declared war against Soutalia, the southern neighbors of the nation. Although no explicit reason was given, the legitimacy of it was always in question by the Nortalian Ruling Council, though the Prime Minister argued it was because Soutalia had "plans" to invade and annex them.
By 132 BBY, a discovery was made by the Chief Marshal that the war only existed for the sake of war against Soutalia. Upon learning the truth, a ceasefire was given by the Ruling Council whom informed the Soutalian government of the discovery. In the weeks following the war, the Prime Minister was impeached from office for abuse of power.
Union of Earth States[]
By 81 BBY, Nortalia was one of the largest nations on Earth and was considered a very powerful state compared to its lesser known southern neighbor. When nations of the world came together to form the Union of Earth States, Nortalia was chosen as the capital state, and Williamtown was designated as the Union Government's new capital city.
Prime Minister Jax Horain had resigned from his position and became the first Union President, allowing Nortalia's Minister to ascend to the office of Prime Minister.
Military[]
Much like its governmental component, the Nortalian military was a formidable military force whose power was invested into the Chief Marshal, who is appointed by the Prime Minister themselves.
The Nortalian military consisted of an army, navy and air force. The majority of these forces were absorbed into the reserve branches of the Union Armed Forces, though they weren't fully integrated and still were under the command of the nation's Prime Minister and Chief Marshal.
