Noirah Na, also known as Noirah Chum, was a survivor of both the Old Jedi Order and Alderaan, though she was originally native to Holt. At different times in her life, she was not just a Jedi, in both the Old and New Orders, but a member of the Rebel Alliance, as well as a champion ice artist with her partner Jon Tellison, and a coach in the sport later. She was also involved in the media smuggling ring run by Haali-Ola-Edi. She was the wife of rebel commander Ellé Okrest.
Biography[]
Jedi Padawan(29 BBY to 19 BBY)[]
Noirah Na was born in Mycani, on Holt, to parents Mylo Lik and Eltana Mol. She was discovered to be Force-sensitive and was removed to the Jedi Temple within a few months. At the age of seven, shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, she was apprenticed to Master Simms. The two of them were sent to aid in the resettling of refugees from seceding worlds wishing to remain in the Republic. They would continue to work there for several months into the war, but eventually would be sent into battle.
The Battle of Yentz[]
Shortly after General Grievous emerged, he would lead a battalion of battle droids against Yentz, and Noirah and her Master would be sent to the aid of the native species, the Goline. It was on this planet the Grievous would commit the first of his many atrocities. He had already mass massacred civilians by the time the two Jedi had arrived, and they were just in time to witness the gruesome death of the Goline's leader Drus'shi by a virus which Grievous had infected him with. Master Simms managed to convince the enraged Goline to remain in retreat while she and Noirah attacked the battle droids while Grievous was briefly offworld. They routed them, then called in for reinforcements.
Five Jedi Masters arrived, including Kai Hudorra, and then Noirah and Simms also briefly went offworld. They returned shortly after Grievous, to find only Hudorra still alive out of the five Masters, the entire Goline army dead of the virus, and many more civilians murdered, with the rest of the Goline population in grave danger. The three Jedi worked together to get as many of the survivors off the planet as they could.
The horrors they were witnessed to resulted in the only time Noirah ever saw her Master cry, and gave Noirah herself nightmares for months afterward. She also developed a strong admiration for Master Hudorra.
Order 66[]
Two years later Noirah Na and her Master were reunited with Hudorra on Toola. They were still there when Order 66 was issued. When their troops turned on them, Simms was killed, but Noirah and Hudorra were able to escape. Though she never told anyone, Noirah harbored hopes of becoming Hudorra's padawan. Hudorra disguised Noirah as a slave boy and snuck her off Toola and to Coruscant, where they discovered the takeover of the Emperor, and Hudorra told Noirah that there was no choice but to hide themselves and forget the Order, in the hopes that the Jedi might someday rise again. He took away her lightsaber, gave her enough money to get off of Coruscant, and told her to leave him and form a new life for herself.
Student on Alderaa(19 BBY to 11 BBY)[]
Disillusioned about both Hudorra and the galaxy, completely lacking direction, and very close to suicide, Noirah without entirely thinking about it traveled to Holt, where she sought out her parents, and met her brother Moitros Nol, who had followed her pursuits and greatly admired her. Her father used certain contacts from his job to obtain a false identity for her, and under the name of Noirah Chum she traveled to Alderaan, and entered a boarding school with a false record as having settled there as a refugee from the Lahara Sector and chosen to stay after the war.
Emotionally far older than her peers, Noirah made some friends but never grew close to any of them. The school was adjacent to an ice rink, and she took to spending time there, until a coach recognized her potential as an ice artist. Aware that the Force gave her a unfair edge in competitions, Noirah chose to focus on pairs skating, so her success would be dependent on someone without that advantage. She went through three partners during adolescence before finally being paired with Jon Tellison in 11 BBY.
She started entering competitions offworld in 15 BBY. One of the first was on Ando, where she was recruited by media smuggler, Haali-Ola-Edi, or more accurately, by her young Force-sensitive daughter Enmi-Ola-Mundi, as a member of her growing media ring. She confessed her past to her as well.
Ice Artist(11 BBY to 0 BBY)[]
In 9 BBY Noirah and Jon won the Alderaan championships for the first time, and they made the Galactic Championships in ever year between 7 BBY and 1 BBY except 5 BBY. After 4 BBY they always finished within the top ten. By this time Noirah had told Jon her secret history, but he would never know of her smuggling activities.
In 2 BBY Noirah and Jon reached the point where they had a serious shot at winning the championships for the first time. Ultimately they would lose when reigning champions Ponat Rinit and Torn Wills would win the title for the second time. Like many, Noirah would be deeply grieved by Rinit's suicide the day after the championships.
During that competition, on Mirial, Noirah was also running a job for Haali-Ola-Edi, and in the course of it she would meet Ellé Okrest, with whom she quickly fell deeply in love. Though they enjoyed a brief liaison, neither would speak fully of their feelings to other, something Noirah would regret at times after they parted.
Returning to the championships in 1 BBY, Noirah and Jon would at last win at the respective ages of 28 and 31. Deciding they were too young to retire, they went back to the competitive circuit the next year, and had just won the Spin of Skyrees when Noirah declined to return to Alderaan with Jon, having accepted another job from Haali-Ola-Edi. The job nearly killed her, but ironically saved her life, as it was the only reason that unlike her partner, she was not on Alderaan when it was destroyed by the Death Star.
Involvement with the Rebellion(0 BBY to 4 ABY)[]
Feeling the life she had built for herself had been destroyed just like her previous life had been, Noirah Na continued to aimlessly ran jobs for Haali-Ola-Edi, then for her daughter after the latter's death, but for the first time since fleeing Coruscant in 19 BBY she actively sought out the Force, and through much meditation came to the conclusion that her destiny lay with Ellé Okrest. She spent some time tracking her down, but finally joined a loose ship of rebels on their way to an attack on Skyrees, offering her expertise on the planet to aid them. During the subsequent battle she not only found Ellé again, but saved her life. The two of them were married immediately afterward, and Noirah joined the Rebellion. She was then also reunited with her brother Moitros, who was a rebel pilot.
In marrying Ellé, Noirah became step-mother to her infant daughter Amlé, and was left protecting her during the evacuation of the rebel base on Hoth in 3 ABY. The two of them were separated from Ellé, who believed them both to be dead, for longer than anticipated, and grew very close. But when Ellé returned, it was with Nick Rostu, whom she was now involved with. Noirah was ready to give her up, but Ellé ultimately chose her wife over her lover.
Moitros was killed in the Battle of Endor, and Noirah was still mourning him when she participated in the liberation of her wife's home planet of Naboo. After that she looked up her parents, but discovered they were both dead.
Retirement and Coaching(4 ABY to 20 ABY)[]
After spending the remainder of 4 ABY with Sabé Andierre in the palace of Theed, Noirah and Ellé retreated to a home together in Theed to raise Amlé. Discovering distressingly little interest in ice artistry on Naboo, Noirah made it her mission to encourage interest, and she started coaching prospective skaters. Her first pair, Molné Hadné and Huon Loterrie, would win the Galactic Championships in 18 ABY.
Meanwhile, both Noirah and Ellé, who was borderline Force-sensitive, would observe the emergence and growth of a New Jedi Order, but Noirah for a long time saw her life as having led her elsewhere. However, as time went on, they found their desire to be a part of it growing, and finally in 20 ABY, they would put their life on Naboo aside and travel to the academy on Yavin IV.
Jedi Knight(20 ABY to 29 ABY)[]
Both would be knighted by the time of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and Noirah would fight in battles all over the galaxy during the ensuing war. After 28 ABY, however, she would spend most of her time with Ellé on the front in the Chommell sector, and it was in defense of the displaced inhabitants of Naboo that she would give her life in the Battle of Chommell, in 29 ABY.
