Nike Jira Sakaros was the first daughter and second child of the Sith Lord Tariun Sakaros, Phoenix Prince of the Golden Empire, and Breek Zagrev. She was named for her mother's best friend and fellow Centurion, Jira Zaffrod. She was the niece of Rin and Nagarian Sakaros.

Biography[]

Early Years[]

Nike spent most of her early life around her mother, although in 149 ABY she was kept in the Citadel with her brother Delliak for safety during the Nightmare War. She and Delliak moved to Baes in 150 ABY when their mother became the world's Consul. They were targeted for assassination by the Human Unity Front that year, but saved by Breek, Zeth Kezzerek, Benzeel Rikos, and Kyriel Windrunner.

In 151 ABY, Delliak was taken as a Novice of the Order of Keltrayu. Nike missed him greatly and cried often in his absence at first, but she had a new sister, Amina, and the chance to be the big sibling for once eventually distracted her. Nike took it upon herself to "help" her mother with Amina at every opportunity.

"The Oldest Child in the Order"[]

In 153 ABY, Nike joined Delliak as a Novice herself. She was initially somewhat jealous of Delliak's closeness to Terra Zaffrod, but quickly became close with the young Kasci herself. Hardworking and studious, Nike often struck her Praetors as the most quietly serious of her age group. In 154 ABY, Nike met the Massassi Novice Sarvhak, overcoming his shyness around her to become one of his closest friends. She was one of the only beings who connected with Nizenya Sapphire on any level; indeed, after Kieran Sapphire, no one made Nizenya feel as comfortable as Nike. When Kieran resigned his commission and moved to Irimor with Nizenya, she and Nike remained holopals.

Amina joined the Order in 155 ABY, and her loud, chaotic personality tried the patience of her Praetors and baffled more disciplined Novices. Nike often took it upon herself to try to keep her baby sister in check, with mixed success. Nike never balked from a sparring session, even with older and larger Novices, but she most enjoyed practicing the Force, as well as having free time to read, both on her own and to younger Novices. She took up the harp at some point and loved to play.

As she grew and trained, Nike became interested in politics and diplomacy. She also devoted extra practice to mind tricks, and frequently served as a peacemaker among feuding Novices. Despite this, her big brother and other Novices kept her on her toes in sparring, and she learned tactics for countering Delliak's strength while still using her limber build and height to her advantage. Though she most enjoyed reading, music, and her Force studies, more than one Praetor noted that Nike could develop reasonable or better skill at nearly anything to which she devoted sufficient effort. Though she found piloting boring, she, like Delliak, took up flight simulator training at her parents' request so they could one day serve as Amina's wingmates.

Appearance and Personality[]

Nike had her mother's curly brown hair and, alone among her siblings, she inherited the emerald green eyes Tariun himself had inherited from his father Tak. Between her tan mother and her half-Sith father, Nike had an olive tone to her own skin. She was tall for a female Human throughout her life, though shorter than her brother Delliak.

As a Novice, Nike was quieter than others and studious. Her instructors found her polite, dutiful, pleasant, and intelligent. She enjoyed music and reading in addition to her training. Though less boisterous than her brother Delliak and much more self-controlled than her loudmouth baby sister Amina, Nike was very close with both of her siblings. Several adults who knew the siblings, including Rin Sakaros, felt Nike was the cleverest of the three.

Behind the Scenes[]

Nike's given name comes from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory.
