Save for the Arima Shogun, the other two on Nihon don't see eye-to-eye with the Emperor these days. Not because of the civil war, mind you but because of their past.
Reizei Ayato

The Nihon Civil War, initially referred as the Gushiken Civil War from 1,868 BBY to 1,603 BBY, and known in the Arima Shogunate as the War of Seccession and in the Nakayama Shogunate as the War for the Unification of Nihon, was a civil war fought between the Imperial Faction, Arima Shogunate and Nakayama Shogunate on the island of Nihon on the Inner Rim world Kazoku.

The three main combatants were each supported by Azuma and Nishi shogunates and clans, when the civil war came to open warfare. The Imperial Faction was supported by the Eri Shogunate, Iwasawa Shogunate, Miyuki Shogunate, and the Kumagami Clan, Otosaka Clan and Sasaki Clan. The Arima Shogunate was supported by the Hinata Shogunate. Shiori Shogunate, and the Kamisato Clan and Nishina Clan. The Nakayama Shogunate was supported by the Kanamaru Shogunate, and the Matsura Clan and Tomori Clan. All of those that supported the combatants had contributed their own Kishi forces as well.

Prelude[]

The civil war began in 1,868 BBY when the Gushiken Clan announced its intention to secede from the Shogunate Commission. At the same time, it was reported that Kishi warriors from the Arima Clan were spotted in the Gushiken and Reizei Provinces in the prior year without authorization from the Gushiken Shogun and caused an increase to tension and threat of civil war. This period was referred as the Gushiken Civil War, as it was initially thought to be between the Gushiken Shogunate and provinces overseen by the Kono Clan's Daimyo in the southern territory of the Gushiken Shogunate. However in 1,591 BBY, the Nakayama Shogunate announced plans to withdraw from the Shogunate Commission and this caused paranoia with the Gushiken Clan as they feared the Nakayama Clan could possibly interfere with their goals of uniting all of Kazoku under the former Imperial Faction. The Shogunate Committee wished for the Gushiken and Nakayama Shogunates to reconsider their decisions and remain part of the Commission to prevent another Kazokan War from erupting into a global civil war that would harm the peace and political stability that the Commission had maintained for so long. This would be taken negatively by the Gushiken Shogun who remained adamant and reminded the Emperor that the Nakamura Clan did not grant the Imperial Faction its former status as the government of Kazoku when the Kazokan Wars were brought to an end. Although the Emperor countered this by reminding the Gushiken Shogun that the Imperial Faction was a failed system of government that led to the Kazokan Wars in the first place, as the weak leadership of the last Emperor of Kazoku was the catalyst that sparked the fires of civil war, and this had a negative impact on the future relations between the Nakamura and Gushiken Clans.

The civil war[]

Outbreak of war[]

In 1,603 BBY, after nearly two centuries of geo-political tension and border skirmishes between the three in, the Gushiken Shogun was notified of the Kono Clan's Daimyo having been found dead in his headquarters. This act of war infuriated the shogun who suspected the Arima Clan due to the previous reports of their Kishi warriors in the Gushiken and Reizei Provinces. The Gushiken Shogun would send emissaries to the Arima Clan and demanded answers for this act of aggression against their Shogunate but would be met with silence, as their inquiries fell on deaf ears. This state of anger would further be fueled when it was discovered the Arima Clan, and all of their supporting clans, became the founding clan of the newly established Arima Shogunate, and that the Commission considered the request made by the Arima Shogunate to be admitted as a legitimate Shogunate and its Shogun earn a seat in the Committee would be the final nail in the coffin for the Gushiken Shogun. The Gushiken Shogunate withdrew from the Commission and remained isolationist until 1,586 BBY when they re-emerged as the Imperial Faction and declared war on the Arima Shogunate while their newly established Imperial Kazokan Army would attack the borders of the Koga Province, bringing the civil war into active war.

Confederacy invasion[]

Blue Glass Arrow Main article: Kazokan Campaign

Amidst the on-going Clone Wars, Kazoku would be invaded by the Confederacy of Independent Systems in 22 BBY, whom desired the procurement of the Tachi and Yoroi metals that was found on the Tsuki twin moons. This complicated the already on-going civil war on the planet as the Separatist Droid Armies made landfall within the Eri Shogunate. As a result, the Eri Shogunate pulled what troops they loaned, but would continue to support the Imperial Faction with shipments of supplies, weapons and armour.
