The New Republic was a government that was built from the Alliance to Restore the Republic which was also known as the Rebel Alliance, after defeating the Empire at Endor it allowed this New Republic to rise from the ashes of the Old Republic and defeating Empire, Mon Mothma was Chief of State for 7 Years and Leia Organa Solo was also elected for 7 Years before Public Belief insisted that she stepped down especially after a Noghri attack on the Corellian Government's Council leading to a number of deaths.

Shortly after the Battle of Endor where Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine met their end, Coruscant was reoccupied by the Alliance to Restore the Republic whom soon after renamed themselves the New Republic, the New Republic continued on fighting the Empire and freeing Star Systems from the Empire. By 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn had taken command of the Imperial Forces lining up a crushing invasion of the New Republic however after a failed assassination attempt by his own bodyguard, Thrawn allowed for a peace treaty to be signed between his Imperial Remnant and the New Republic.
After the Thrawn campaign, new allies from the Old Republic that assisted the Rebellion stepped forwards including ex-Senator Garm Bel Iblis of Corellia whom had been in combat secretly against Thrawn himself, also the Smuggler Alliance was formed with weary agreement between the New Republic and Imperial Remnant. When Leia Organa Solo took the position of Chief of State in 11 ABY, the New Republic thrived both in Politics and in Military growth causing the birth of the New Republic in actuality, a Government that could match the Old Republic in its Twilight Hours.
