Neran Daikros was a male Human Corellian who served as Diktat of Corellia.
Biography[]
Early career[]
In his youth Daikros was a champion at Corellian boxing; he continued to fight during his enlistment in the Corellian Defense Force, becoming a CDF champion. After leaving the service, he attended Corellia University, paying for his education in part through victories at amateur fights. Once he graduated he returned to the CDF as an officer, resigning his commission after three years to study law. Despite graduating with honors, he never actually practiced, serving instead as an advisor to the Corellian Council. Daikros eventually ran for elected office, serving in a number of prestigious positions, including as Mayor of Coronet City. He left political life for a few years to serve as a director of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, but returned to public service when he was elected Diktat.
Protecting Corellia[]
As Diktat, he was a staunch advocate for Corellian interests (both the planet and the broader Corellian sector) and repeatedly pushed back against the Republic imposing additional burdens on Corellia to support its campaigns. Daikros supported Jedi Master Tyson Dumiel's plans to reestablish the Corellian Jedi and supported Jendaya Rose as Senator of Corellia.
Daikros and the Corellian Council monitored Vedya Gasald's campaign to conquer the Corellian Run with concern; Daikros declared that Gasald could not be allowed to capture Allanteen Six, and when she did, he immediately convened his council of advisors to plan a Corellian response. All options were on the table, including invoking Contemplanys Hermi and even reestablishing the Corellian Emprie, but Mali Darakhan arrived to propose an alternative: an assault on Milagro, whose industrial capabilities were critical for Gasald to make any use of Allanteen's shipyards. After an intense council debate, Daikros ultimately authorized elements of the Corellian Sector Fleet to be attached to Darakhan's campaign. He also helped the campaign gain ships from Duro and the Tapani sector by negotiating defense support for Duro and right-of-first-refusal for Milagroan industrial product for the Tapani. In the following months, Daikros supported Darakhan by sending Milagro resources and pressuring his neighbors to do the same.
Imposition[]
After the assassinations of Satir and Galera Solo, Daikros personally delivered Galera's eulogy, as she had served on the Corellian Council. He, like most Corellian leaders, strongly supported Republic and Jedi attempts to hunt down Darth Alecto. He was also among the leaders who endorsed Mali Darakhan's receipt of first-class Corellian Bloodstripes after the death of Valin Aresh.
When Senator Rose was kidnapped and Nawsa Arodion was assassinated on Denon, Daikros met with several of the other Corellian leaders to develop a strategy in response. Though not an advocate of war, he had no patience for the Republic refuting Corellia's demands for justice. He hoped the arrests of Belusa Rho and Morid Dosio would provide closure, but found the Republic's response more tepid than most Corellians desired.
A month after Arodion's death, Daikros summoned most of Corellia's leaders again, including all the Green Jedi and Corsica Solo. Mali Darakhan walked out in disgust at the group's militance, taking nearly all the Jedi with him and leaving the council stymied. Corsica proposed Darakhan replacing Eymus Dorr as Supreme Commander of the CDF, but in the ensuing discussion, Daikros wound up agreeing to cede part of his own power and amend the Constitution Act to appoint Darakhan the first Lord Protector of Corellia.
The Chuns[]
In general, Daikros and Darakhan collaborated well; Darakhan often attended Corellian Council meetings, even though it was not required, to maintain good relations and cooperation between security and civilian sectors. When Nal and Kadelle Chun were arrested, however, Darakhan advocated for dropping the charges to repay the Chuns for assisting in Aresh's demise, whereas Darvin Rocco endorsed continued prosecution. Daikros elected to support his prosecutors, though he had little personal investment in the case.
Over the following months, public perception of Daikros and Darakhan grew strained as the issue of the Chuns repeatedly made local headlines. King Jedossen e Solo finally settled the debate by summoning both sides to Castel Solo, hearing them out, and issuing the Chuns royal pardons under his own authority.
Appearance and personality[]
Neran Daikros was tall for a Human at 1.92 meters, and retained his heavily muscled, round-faced boxer's build long after his entry into politics; despite the presence of multiple Jedi Knights and Masters and the Selonian Vissica, Corsica Solo found his the most imposing presence in the room. He was completely bald, with blue-green eyes and a fair complexion.
As Diktat, Daikros was even-tempered, but firm in governance; Mali Darakhan believed he never did anything halfway. He was devoutly pro-Corellian and refused to allow the Republic to abuse Corellia, but did not see violence as an ideal course. He had sufficient humility to sacrifice some of his own political power if it was best for Corellia; he was open to reestablishing the Corellian Empire in truth if that served Corellia best, and did in fact carve off half his political authority to allow Mali Darakhan's appointment as Lord Protector.
