Nakaya Riso was a Force-sensitive Nautolan female Jedi Knight who trained under the famed master Vok Shymen prior to his fall to the dark side. A young talent, she met her end prematurely at the hands of Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Syrinn in an essence transfer ritual on Nathema.
Biography[]
Riso was born on Glee Anselm in 729 BBY and her potency with the Force was discovered at an early age, and she was thus sent to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for training. She excelled in her training exercises and her talents soon caught the attention of Kel Dor Jedi Master and High Council member Vok Shymen, who chose to take her on as his first Padawan in several decades. They enjoyed a strong master-student bond, though less than year after Riso rose the rank of Jedi Knight in 710 BBY her master disappeared and was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to Nakaya and the rest of the order, Shymen had actually assumed the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith, taking the name Darth Flurin and training Shiren Dizkar as his Sith apprentice.
Riso continued to serve the order for several years until 689 BBY when her ship crashed on Nathema while she had been attmepting to rendezvous with other Jedi to take down slavers on Zygerria. She escaped the wreckage and sought assistance from two individuals nearby who were, unbeknownst to her, Flurin's apprentice Darth Syrinn and her own student Darth Mowbris. They invited her into their base of operations on the planet, actually the Sith Lord Tenebrae's derelict Sanitarium, but she quickly figured out their dark intentions; she was soon overwhelmed and cuffed with durasteel to an operating table, from which Syrinn used a Twi'lek shamanistic blood magic ritual to transfer her essence over to Riso. Although Mowbris interrupted the ritual, it was ultimately successful and Riso's spirit was pushed out of her own body, fleeing in a cloud of light energy into the plains of Nathema. Riso's body was soon struck down by Mobris and buried in Syrinn's tomb on Yavin 4. At the time of her death the Jedi High Council had been considering elevating her to the rank of Jedi Master.
